i have never seen engines or any thing of the matter on it in the movies so does any one know?

Though you can't see it, it carries light and sub-light engines for long and short range travel.

The Force. The Emperor can move it using telekinesis from as far as Coruscant :)

This is one of those things that is best left unexplained I think ;)

cmon Moeller, TK answered it correctly, and I have provided reference material... it is far from a mystery! Of course the DS needs hyperdrive and sublight, just as the Falcon needed them to make the trip from Alderaan to Yavin

It jst spins like a large planet: spin clockwise it goes right, anti it goes left. Up and down who knows???

Ever see those videos of Carl Sagan demonstrating gravity by rolling bowling balls and ping-pong balls on rubber sheets? It moves like that. It rolls. Hence the sphere. Duh.
