Beyond a NooB

Hi folks. Let's pretend I have no idea what I'm doing.
I have a Macbook Pro running OSX Tiger 10.4.8
I also have the Macintosh version of Sam N Max & DOTT.
I tried running ScummVM, but it doesn't recognize any of the files on the CD.

Am I screwed?
I read the post regarding dropping to a terminal & copying the Samnmax data file, but I don't have one on the CD.

help?

Please?

Ray Jones 01-09-2007 11:02 AM

So. You read the post regarding dropping to a blahblahblah..

Did you read this one, which took me three years of typing, too:

First off, it seems with a recent release of ScummVM you won't need to extract the data file. So screw extract_scumm_mac. All you need is the Sam & Max data file from your CD. Unfortunately, due to a lack of the Macintoshizzle Sam & Max versionizzle dizzle in my warez folder .... warez f ...... wa ............................ CD archive, I cannot tell what its proper name on the CD is. According to everyone (or almost) else on this earth, it's most likely called Sam & Max Data. However, if not, the data file is the biggest file ever on the CD ... so .. errm, ya know..? *empty look* Huh? Aah, I also have this list of needed files, which says it's called like everyone else says.

Anyways, the point is, the data file is most probably *HIDDEN* on the CD, so you see alot of **** and such but not what you need.

But I cannot tell you how to unhide files or copy hidden files for Mac, since I don't have a Mac. Maybe Jake could enlight us with an ugly chunk of knowledge, if he ever returns from his last acid trip..

Also, if you have any problems with ScummVM, maybe you get more qualified answers here, at the ScummVM help forums, eh!

*burp*

?

Greatness. Then you surely recognised the sentence I will now highlight EXTRA and ONLY for you:

Anyways, the point is, the data file is most probably *HIDDEN* on the CD, so you see alot of **** and such but not what you need.

So, as an extra (and only for you) puzzle, find out how to view hidden files (on a CD) under OSX Blahschie▀michtod. Then copy the ****.

Anything else we can refuse to help you getting along with? Electric Sheep Porn, maybe?

Ray Jones 01-10-2007 06:37 AM

See, Ray, this is why we in here tend not to help people. Sooner or later they stop coming back reporting success or failure. If they do at all. No. I don't think it's related to the gibberish I talk, or even the mentioning of Electric Sheep Porn. Classic adventure gamers simply are like that. In particular the Macintosh ones. Except JAKE of course, because, of course, he could ban me for saying such things to him, and I don't want to be banned, because, of course, I am thaaaaat close to be made a mod by his divine hands and administering skillz. Whoo, I now have wee in my pants!! *rushes off*

SyntheticGerbil 01-11-2007 01:38 AM

Ray "wee in my pants" Jones.

Ray Jones 01-11-2007 05:07 AM

How very good! From now on I shall be Ray "the Ray G. 'wee in my pants' Jones" Jones, until I decide otherwise, of course. Excellent.

While we're at it. Where's this punk with his Macbook? I want to shove it up his rectal zone to show him how much better I think my new Core2Duo processor one is.

SyntheticGerbil 01-11-2007 11:48 AM

Maybe he forgot he was even trying to play the game...

itchythesamurai 01-11-2007 07:30 PM

I'm a mod now, but I have no idea how far you guys would have to go before I edited any posts. High threshold of tolerance.

Samnmax221 01-11-2007 07:41 PM

Yes we know, now stop rubbing it in our face's, we're all very butthurt about it.

itchythesamurai 01-11-2007 09:25 PM

How could facerubbing possibly lead to buttpain?

Samnmax221 01-11-2007 09:26 PM

It's the interwebz.

Grey Master 01-11-2007 09:32 PM

You are a mod now itchy?!
CONGRATULATIONS........*pops a champagne bottle open*

Samnmax221 01-11-2007 09:43 PM

Its a good thing too since the Cancer just spread to his lungs, he needed to have some fun.

itchythesamurai 01-11-2007 09:57 PM

Grey Master 01-11-2007 10:12 PM

tsk tsk tsk...
Smoking is like killing yourself slowly....NO champagne for you!!!
(Anybody want some, or a martini?)

Ray Jones 01-12-2007 03:46 AM

The facerubbing - buttpain connect? This is obvious like dog balls: just take a horse, rub your face on it until it's hawt, then grab [EDIT - Ray are you nuts? You cannot really write what you wrote here and think people will be pleased to read this. I was, however. <3 itchy] up your anus.

EDIT: Dude, I so didn't edit your post...until just now, with this part. I don't want to hamper your wily imagination.

EDIT: Prove it! ~ Ray

EDIT: Oh man, this war of attrition is so on now.

Ray Jones 01-12-2007 03:52 AM

Or what about double posting? We shove ter trouble down your throat, it's us or mod, MWHAHA!

Ray Jones 01-12-2007 03:53 AM

Restored.

itchythesamurai 01-12-2007 04:07 PM

Thanks, I've always wanted to know but have been too afraid to ask Google.

Ray Jones 01-12-2007 04:43 PM

One question in time saves nine.

itchythesamurai 01-12-2007 07:58 PM

You fool, are you trying to get Eric to kill us all through your reckless rewording of Huxley?!

Ray Jones 01-13-2007 08:23 AM

I do not fear endless pain!

Ray Jones 01-15-2007 04:07 AM

Oh, no, I mean, I really look forward to being whipped by those crazy hawt biotches from hell, all day long.

I think we should ask Brushguy who dies for God's sins, btw.

SyntheticGerbil 01-16-2007 01:42 AM

MacGyver, of course.

Samnmax221 01-16-2007 01:53 AM

I'm pretty sure MacGyver would find a way to kill god with a stack of 20 year old National Geographics and a wheel bench.

Hahahaa. That was .. funni?

itchythesamurai 01-16-2007 09:48 PM

At least I know what a wheel bench is now.

SyntheticGerbil 01-17-2007 12:53 AM

Yes, what he said. Is this wheel bench I have found for thou accurate? Is it... funni?

I watched "I Am Weasel" AND "Cow and Chicken". And I think 99% of the other cartoons that have been on Cartoon Network since the channel launched.

SyntheticGerbil 01-18-2007 01:25 AM

Dave Feiss (creater of Cow and Chicken) worked on a weird ass 15 page comic strip in The Maxx. Also he is the cousin of Sam Kieth (creator of The Maxx). That comic was awesome.

And better yet, Dave also worked on the pilot episode of Ren and Stimpy.

But I could never bring myself to like Cow and Chicken or I R Baboon or whatever.

Shmargin 01-18-2007 09:59 AM

Two human parents and a theme song that includes the lyrics "Mamma had a Chicken, Mamma had a Cow, Dad was proud, he didnt care how"

It was funny in an insane way.

itchythesamurai 01-19-2007 04:12 PM

With science going the way it is these days, Cow and Chicken is becoming more plausible at an alarming rate.
