Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings

Credit: Kotaku.

Well, It's official guys, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings is definitely coming out for Wii, Nintendo DS, and an unnamed Playstation system.

Trailer is right here:

http://kotaku.com/5138380/indiana-jo...ys-new-trailer

While, as a 360 owner I am a bit disappointed, I hope the game is still good.

So, what are you guys looking forward to in the game?

GeneralPloKoon 01-24-2009 12:20 AM

Well after failure of TFU and other LA titles on the Wii and DS looks like I won't be playing this game. There goes half the reason I got a 360! Then again it is Kotaku and they have been wrong many times before...

jrrtoken 01-24-2009 06:54 PM

No, it's pretty much 99.99% bona-fide. A trailer of that quality is most certainly not a hoax.

Either way, I'm happy with it. it's good that they didn't just target it to the 360/PS3 crowd only, as they've had their fill of "hardcore" games, now there's finally something as a primarily Wii exclusive. Hope it turns out better than TFU.

Ah, didn't even watch the video...stupid me! But will this game come out? The LA website still has nothing on it and still contains a page for the old 360/PS3 one...

My guess: LA is slow as hell when it comes to updating their website. Case and point: the BioWare/LucasArts page still hasn't been updated yet, even though the MMO has been known for many, many months now. Unless... if it's dealing with an entirely different project...

The Tingler 01-27-2009 03:13 PM

Yeah, you're quite right PastramiX. I also believe that this trailer is a slight leak, and LucasArts are waiting for a magazine's (possibly Nintendo Power's) exclusive to come out before they release more details. It's a real shame if the 360/PS3 version truly isn't coming out.

I've updated IndyJones.net with all the details, including the Facts & Rumours page for the game.

As for release date, I'm betting on or around April 28th - which is the current rumoured release for the novelisation by Rob McGregor.

Samnmax221 01-28-2009 06:26 PM

No 360 version?! **** this **** in its ripe ****ing ****ing *******.

Capisdead 01-28-2009 07:54 PM

Know how you feel Samnmax221. Know how you feel

jrrtoken 01-28-2009 08:13 PM

Wish there was a PC version, though LA seemingly continues their crusade of alienating the PC gamer, even though it was the PC which made LA the company it is now. Without the PC, LA would be ****.

The Tingler 01-29-2009 04:28 AM

I want a PC version for the feeling of near-immortality it gives to games. I can play Fate of Atlantis or even Last Crusade any time I want, but I can't do that with Emperor's Tomb unless I plug in my old Xbox or PS2. PS3's don't really have backwards compatibility, and the 360 BC for Emperor's Tomb isn't perfect.

Oh, wait, I can play it - I've got it for PC.

And if they don't bring out the Euphoria-enhanced 360 version, which was the reason The Force Unleashed never came to PC supposedly, there really is no excuse.

GeneralPloKoon 01-29-2009 11:33 AM

I miss the "Old" Lucasarts....
Show spoiler

The Tingler 01-29-2009 11:40 AM

Agreed... (sighs)

Zwier Zak 01-30-2009 05:04 AM

Same here :(((

The Tingler 01-30-2009 08:07 AM

Well, it's confirmed, Nintendo Power magazine has Indiana Jones & The Staff of Kings on their next cover. I'll post it on the site later today, and Jason from Mojo has already stuck it on the main page.

So come February 20th, we'll know everything about the game. I'll bet the answer to 'why isn't it out on 360/PS3 like you planned?' will be some bull**** like "it wasn't meeting our quality expectations".

Of course, if Official Nintendo Magazine have the exclusive too like I'm hoping, then I'll know February 13th instead - and I promise I'll put up scans promptly.

elmanmasraro 02-06-2009 03:46 PM

Hey, the screenshots are out! They don't really look good... maybe the game will look better in motion.

The Tingler 02-06-2009 05:39 PM

Yep, we're actually getting some info at last.

I won't pass too much judgment until I've played the game or at least seen the animation, but it's not looking too good right now.

elmanmasraro 02-06-2009 07:22 PM

Hey hey, wait a second. This then means that Surfer Girl was actually right! Haven't you noticed? I mean, she said that "a new development team is on board" and that "A2M is working for the consoles who can't stand a 3 on their name-PSP/PS2/Wii/DS" which is quite right, and she also said that the actual game "looks nothing like what was shown in the E3 2006" and that the Wii is "the primary SKU for this title", which is totally right!

The Tingler 02-06-2009 07:36 PM

Heh heh, yeah, I did notice! :P Apart from the PSP part - Amaze are developing that version.

elmanmasraro 02-06-2009 07:58 PM

The Fact Sheet from Lucasarts says that "The PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system version features six robust types of burst gameplay including combat and physics challenges, puzzles and the trademark Indiana Jones chase sequences". Does that mean the PSP version will be different? I'm kinda confused with that post...

elmanmasraro 02-06-2009 09:55 PM

The game has officially received an ESRB rating! Teen. Nothing surprising, as you might have imagined. The content descriptors are Mild Language and Violence.

urluckyday 02-07-2009 01:29 AM

FAIL. EPIC FAIL Lucasarts...you screwed me again.

Our fill of "hardcore games?" What does that mean? I got my 360 90% of the new Indy game coming out....and now you're telling me I don't deserve it because the 360 has legitimate games for it? That makes a lot of sense...

Like I said, LA has screwed me once again...I'm glad they're done with internal productions...they really do suck.

Supposedly the PSP version is being made exclusively by Amaze, but I think this will just be a short bit of extra gameplay, possibly minigames.

These versions were always coming, but 360/PS3 was getting the main LucasArts-developed version. Unfortunately because of LucasArts' internal Civil War over the last couple of years, Indy got continually put on the backburner, and management decided it would take too much time and effort to finish it. So they cancelled their own version, but the Wii etc. versions were made outside of LucasArts so they didn't get any interference. So we're getting them instead.

It does suck, but instead of Vapourware that may never have come out we're getting a new Indy game (and story) soon. Let's hope it's good.

elmanmasraro 02-07-2009 11:03 AM

I'm wondering how A2M made this game. Although I already saw the screenshots, they don't really tell much about the final game. I'm actually getting worried, because from what I know A2M has a reputation of making bad games (like Mercenaries 2 for PS2, what was that?)...

Oh and a question: Does Amaze make good games? At least for PSP?

GeneralPloKoon 02-07-2009 11:27 AM

I've never heard of amaze...

The Tingler 02-07-2009 01:14 PM

Amaze, sadly, have got much of the same reputation A2M have.

We can only hope that with the focus now on these games, LucasArts have stepped in to insure the quality's there - otherwise they're going to get lynched.

elmanmasraro 02-07-2009 04:28 PM

Soooooo.... The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions aren't coming... Thank God I still have my PSP and my good ol' PS2.

elmanmasraro 02-08-2009 08:18 PM

Man I'm starting to love the screenshots! Specially this one:http://www.indyjones.net/2008/screenshot13.jpg

My question now is: how will the PSP version be? Cuz I'd love if I were able to play that rail shooter scene on the PSP...:D

The Tingler 02-09-2009 05:50 AM

Oh, I agree totally! While the graphics may appear low-res, I think the animation and amount of things happening on screen will make up for it.

Unfortunately we still haven't seen anything of the PSP or DS versions, but can't be long now.

elmanmasraro 02-09-2009 05:08 PM

Hey Tingler, you forgot to add this screenshot:http://worthplaying.com/kiwi_popup.p...AtSoK_0434.jpg

The Tingler 02-09-2009 06:21 PM

Heh, wasn't going to bother with that one so urgently, as it's so similar to the other rope bridge one! I wonder who picks these screenshots? You'd think they'd want them as different as possible!

elmanmasraro 02-12-2009 04:42 PM

Man I love the custom artwork! It's just perfect!

elmanmasraro 02-12-2009 10:11 PM

Oh and also the screenshots! First I thought the game was gonna be bad, but then I saw the ones from that German magazine and they're great! This game may be good after all.

urluckyday 02-22-2009 02:50 AM

Just to add to my previous statement...I'm still pretty mad about the whole thing...

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1212/...294f713d3c.jpg

elmanmasraro 02-25-2009 06:38 PM

Finally! A release date! May the 22nd! Yay!

The Tingler 02-25-2009 06:45 PM

I know, great isn't it?

Samnmax221 02-25-2009 07:12 PM

I might cave and buy it. Depends on how the final product is.

GeneralPloKoon 02-25-2009 07:34 PM

I'll buy if it has the ability to use a controller!

elmanmasraro 02-25-2009 07:51 PM

I wanna see PSP screens! (Well, maybe they are just a lower rendered version of the actual screens. Oh well...) I've got both a PS2 and a PSP, and I'm thinking of getting it on the PSP (cuz it's portable!) so I wanna see those screens!

The Tingler 02-26-2009 04:45 AM

I admit I'm more worried about the PSP version than anything. It's being made by another developer (Amaze) specifically for that system, and I'm worried they'll do it even more half-assed than usual.

Out of all the consoles, the PSP is definitely in the weakest position, so I'm worried they're not going to put the effort in.
