Local Shootings
At first myself and Cristian thought it was a gang war between the Reds and Crips.
Last night, a group of Mexicans hijacked cars and started shooting people. It started in Duryea, and it progressed through Avoca, Pittston, Exeter, and it ended somewhere around Moosic. Eventually, they started running through peoples' backyards and others were firing fireworks as distractions. I live in that area. Specifically Pittston. I heard gunshots outside in the distance, and most definitely police sirens. I was listening to a police scanner while in an Xbox Live Party with a few of my RL friends - whom were also listening to police scanners, albeit at different channels. Just another day in Pennsylvania. |
I will send some extra locks for your closet.

Man, you should move somewhere safer, like the Middle-East.
|
Ugh. Reminds me of west Sacramento. Isn't as bad or filthy as Tijuana Mexico but you hang in one area too long you're asking to get shot.
|
Glad to be Australian.
|
Which part of Pennsylvania do you live? I live in the same state, and there's a few gangs in my area, but nothing too serious like that has ever happened (and considering it's the countryside, they're all wannabes anyway who get arrested the moment they break the law).

:p Regardless, the higher the concentration of people in a given area, the greater the level of chaos the area exhibits. That's why places like New Zealand and Denmark trump all'a y'all asses in this context. :xp: |

Also, foreigners worry about the big and scary animals in this country, but living in this country... I never actually see any of them. Plus, there are plenty of dangerous things in other countries people live in... they've just gotten used to the fact that they're there. One things for sure though, I'm glad I don't live in South America, when it comes to creepy bugs and stuff that can kill ya, that's really the continent to avoid. Funnel webs stay where they are in their nest and do whatever the hell it is spiders do. A lot of the spiders in South America get out and about and go looking for you... and they will come and find you eventually. ....and that is why despite there being people who commit violent acts being everywhere and how Shem was saying that not everywhere is like that in the US, I still feel a hell of a lot safer in a bad part of Australia than I would if I lived anywhere in the US. The entire cultural norm in the US is extremely different when it comes to people and the ownership and use of guns, etc, etc, yada, yada.... whatever. So in short, I'm glad I live in Australia. |
Jeez, Lynk, any other continents I should avoid? :xp: Ugh, I go full-on Rambo on harmless spiders, imagine what I'd be doing when some deadly spider comes looking for me.
|
Africa has a bunch of disease producing plants that could kill you if you touch them... and parasites that live in water that somehow gets into your body and grows to enormous proportions and literally eat your body from the inside out.

Essentially, avoid anywhere tropical, where the nastiest of nasties tend to reside.

They're worse than hillbillies! The rednecks in Texas are at least educated and literate (somewhat). The ones down here in GA......no words for them. Some of them are COMPLETE retards. Some are just downright *******s. Some are just straight up racists, because the rednecks in GA are still stuck in the 60s. |
Oh, so it's a scary spider contest we're entering?

Considering ants and other insects of South America make the Zerg look tame, that's one reason to not want to visit. Still curious about Rio De Janeiro though.
If mexico was any indication of how much worse it is south of there, that's horrifying. It's quite enough to have to check your outhouse hole or public toilets for brown recluses to avoid bites on your choicest bits every time you have to go. Or the myriad of wonderful diseases on practically every surface there. Or deal with venomous scorpions being in everything and have to check all the time if a lethal sting isn't awaiting you around the corner or in your shoe. So I'll take a scum shack in America any day. |

I live in ****ing Ontario. The worst things I have to deal with are Asian tourists and the occasional senior citizen who thinks they can still drive.
If I ever have to move, I'll probably die. |
Wow this thread derailed quite quick.
|
Not really, people are discussing things that people have to live with around their neighbourhood that may end up killing them or someone else in the neighbourhood. The discussion has EXPANDED... and stuff.
|
Southwestern United States... All we got are killer bees, rattlesnakes, scorpions, the Brown Recluse spider(who's bite actually causes your flesh to dissolve), bobcats, bears, coyotes, fireants, and oh yeah the occasional drug cartel.
|
Texas...we have guns, so we fear nothing. Wildlife fears us. :carms:
