No, the FM-Towns version was played by a real if small orchestra. Laserschwert found out that the music was also used in a Disneyland attraction or something.
And the SoMI CD audio soundtrack was not recorded from a MT-32. It's synthesized music, but not from a MT-32. And of course there are some pieces added in that version which weren't available previously as MIDI pieces...
