Try ripping it off your disks if you can't get it to run. I did that with my copy and as a diskless install it runs like a charm, just gotta maximize it at the intro. The disk version on the other hand just plain does not run, so I don't really know what the correlation is. I'm running a Windows 7 64-bit HP Pavillion laptop.
This is a good time to play TSL, there are lots of restoration and enhancement mods coming out.
