I use both methods, If I can stand in one place its much more precise for me to click, when I'm moving around or in huttball I hotkey. Do what is easier for you, there is no Global standard or skillset you must follow, I'm sure they're are people with the most uneconomical play-styles that'll kick your ass every day.
