RUMOUR: Rogue Squadron Trilogy for Wii
EGM is saying that LucasArts has handed over the Rogue Squadron series to a new developer and that that developer will be creating a Rogue Squadron game for Wii which is an updated version of the Rogue Squadron Trilogy (Rogue Squadron on the Nintendo 64 as well as Rogue Squadron 2 Rogue Leader and Rogue Squadron 3 Rebel Strike for the GameCube) with enhanced visuals and Wii controls.
Sources:
EGM - rumors- What are you waiting for?
Rumor: Enhanced Rogue Squadron trilogy due on Wii - Joystiq
I hope this is VERY true. I'm a big fan of this series and it's what got me to be a member of LucasForums for MANY years... XD

that would be awesome! now if only they'd bring it to the 360 with xbox live multiplayer...

Psh @ talk of 360.
This is a Nintendo bred game series and will stay with Nintendo. Plus it'll be more fun with Wiimote+Nunchuk controls.
And stop being so off-topic, Niner, that's your first warning, two more and you'll be banned temporaraly for a week. *nods*

Better watch out Niner.
Definitely hope this is true. I have not played much of the Rogue Squadron games so I'd love to get the chance to play them on Wii.

They are? That wouldn't make sense, especially if the versions of Rogue Leader and Rebel Strike are a straight port with minor enhancedments as has been suggested. Are you sure it's just not 360 players trying to be optimistic? Like how they always expect all the PS3 exclusives to jump ship?

I sense drama... yes, much drama under the surface...
Anyway, I'd love a port of the RS trilogy to, well, anywhere. I haven't played that game in years. ('Course, that's also because I have a Mac and I've no money to get Boot Camp... and also because I have had barely any time for video games these days. )

I think a lot of people here stopped playing Rogue Squadron after Factor 5 didn't release the PC version of Rogue Leader... which is a shame.
Remind me again, was there a PC version of Battle of Naboo?
Well either way, I really hope LucasArts would release the original Rogue Squadron and Battle for Naboo on Wii VC... and also the Super Star Wars series and Shadows of the Empire and Episode 1 Racer.
So many good Star Wars games that they're not letting us play. Instead they release what? The Force Unleashed?! BAH!

I miss playing RS on my Nin64!
That said, I don't own any consoles and don't plan to anytime in the near future, so if it doesn't come out on pc, it looks like I'll miss it.

This is all just a rumour. But if I were to look at past game rereleases this generation, I'd say if the rumour was true then you won't be seeing a 360 version at all and there's no hope for one so nyah

So we will get to play it with decent graphics for one thing, and Xbox Live multiplayer for another.

You're honestly telling me the GCN version of Rogue Leader and Rebel Strike doesn't have decent graphics?
What's wrong with you leXX?
I mean, come on, I have a HDTV, I view all kinds of HD media on it, PS3 games, my friends 360 games when he brings it around, Bluray movies...
...and yet Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 Corruption still look bloody AWESOME on it despite it being Standard Definition.

The graphics on the GCN and Wii are okay, but wouldn't it be great to play Rogue Squadron with next gen graphics and sound? Who wouldn't?

What next generation graphics? All I see is a higher resolution output with higher resolution textures and some more effects.
What next generation sound? The sound in videogames hasn't improved very much since the last generation.

Okay then, let me ask you this. What will make Rogue Squadron look better specifically on the 360 over Wii? And don't say "next gen graphics"... we're talking specifics here.

I'm simply going to repeat what I said on msn and leave it at that.
"there is no talking to you honestly. if you can't see that it would be awesome to have rogue squadron on 360 or ps3, and you'd be quite happy to settle for it only on wii in this day and age, then i give up."
edit: And you are a Nintendo fanboy, you just won't admit it.

leXX, it'd be awesome to have a decent Star Wars game on any platform, period. And yup, I'm a Nintendo fanboy... in fact, I'm a Sony and Microsoft fanboy too There are lots of PS3 and 360 games I love playing.
