The Amazing JK Enhanced

I am just starting to play thru JK fully with JKE and am amazed at the great quality improvement, it is a stunning and beautiful work and really enhances the game tremendously. I really appreciate the hard work that went into this and this brings JK up to the Enhanced Gold Standard of a number of similar enhancement efforts for other SW games and is a wonderful achievment. Shred did an amazing work with this. Credits at end of this post..and linkeys in case you dont have this amazing enhancement yet.

It is great to see how these classic games continue to evolve and retain their fine qualities.



the improved textures and the great level design and lighting make this a wonderful visual experince as well as a great journey in the SW saga...



the lighting and the surprises really make the progression of the game great, and the vast improvement of the visuals is wonderful...





the compliation and selection of enhanced textures is just right for the settings and the scenes they are selected for...



and the many varied environments make the game continually surprising and fun....

and the improved models make the game itself fit more with the excellent cut scenes and in game vids... a great job on this enhancement indeed.



along with the Tie Figher Total Conversion, the X Wing Alliance U project, the Team Gizka soon to be released restoration of KoTOR II and the combined work of X Wing Redux and the currently active project to translate XWR into english, and the great DF Mod into JKA the entire series is alive and evolving in great ways.

well with mots,thats a bit difficult since nobodys doing anything with it,but what i did is rename the file extensions from gob to goo and most of the texture fixes and npcs show up in mots as they do in jk.which is cool since i did not expect this to work at all for mots.

well basically all i did was take the jk enhanced file and the retexture file and renamed them from gob to goo,thats it,again it only changes what was changed and upgraded in jk,ie if they didnt change the ships then in mots they dont change,but if you notice like for example the gran and stormies have changed and look better this change shows up in mots.hope that makes it more clear.

Great ..that is good to know. As Darksaber and the crew at XWAU allowed them to use the models that were created for the enhanced XWA for JKE, maybe if we do end up working up some additions to the enhancements for MotS they will allow more of the great enhanced ships in the DSUCP to be used as enhanced versions, i havent played MotS all the way thru yet so i dont know which ships appear yet.

well i can tell you that quite a few ships show up from xwing alliance,and also in some of the add on levels as well that were done for mots

Excellent, there are some reallly good upgraded and enhanced ships that have been made for the XWAU project, in fact hundreds of them, and some of them are fantastic in detail...and more are being made ...so that would be a great addition..if we can get permission from the guys who made them and if it works out to make an enhancement for MotS

i dont think you need permission to make a mots enhanced.... i think he said if anyone wanted to do it they could... i could be mistaken tho..

Yep i saw that permission from Z ...i was referring to the ship models that were made for the XWing Alliance Upgrade project and Darksaber and others fine ship models and seeing about permission to use them if an enhanced MotS is done someday.

there is the ship hanging in the hangar in the opening scene. the one that releases from the ceiling and blows up....

it looks a bit simple in construction and like it could use an advanced model.

I must say the Enhanced Texture pack really does a good job on JK, in the aceduct area it is remarkable....



and another shot from later in the game from a buddy who has told me a lot about this great addition to enhancements for JK



Darksaber and the XWAU did a ton of great X wings so that would be nice to see if they would let one come to MotS.

The only other thing that I wish would get done are the light sabers

its too bad you can like mix the SBX sabers with JKE

if you do... the SBX models overwrite the JKE models

hmm i havent had that happen to me and im using both saber battle x fot jk and saber battle x for mots,and they dont overwrite the models,at least not for me,the way i found that i could get it to work was to drop the gob inside the the jke folder alongside the jke gob.
chris has some screenshots of the lightsaber mod im using maybe he could upload some of them so you could see what im taking about.
with mots i was able to get the jke.gob to work in mots by renamaming it to goo and putting it in my jkm folder withat goo and editing a 2nd bat to work with the jkm folder.
i never really liked the saber ingame and the saber battle x mod was the one i enjoyed the most especially since it allowed me to turn off the saber and keep it in my hands.

Here are screen shots from both JKE (with both the Enhanced mod that improves the models and some of the textures and sprites AND the Texture pack) from Jedi Mike to demo the improvments....















these are also about a ehanced saber mod.....saber mod that we have been discussing which works in both JK and MoTS, and allows some nice adjustments and custom settings for the saber...

and in MoTS....
here are pics from MoTS.....of the JKE pack and the new Texture Pack which also work in MoTS if you re name the Gob files to Goo and place them correctly in the folder tree... these pics are also from Jedi Mike

Many thanks chris for posting these,i just wanted to show that the sbx saber mod does work with jke and mots.
JKLE_Cougar,at the moment im not doing much online play,sadily,but ill let you know once i open up some time,thats the critical factor with me at the moment,im open to it,also you can use the mod JKLE_Cougar,i never actually stopped using it.again i prefer this mod over the standard ingame saber.

I am cirious as to how you did it cause when I did it, it overwrote Kyle for me....

also if you want SBX or any other JK mod your looking in the wrong spot

JKLE_Cougar,when the whole thing of jke was started i noticed that the saber was just not how i wanted it and looked for a mod i had used back when i used to play jk and mots.the problem was as you said it overwrote the models but i found out through experimenting that if i put the gob of sbx inside my jke folder inside the jk base folder,the mod would run just like you saw in the screenshots.
since i bring up jke using the bat file the sbx for jk is inside my jke folder and the game brings up both mods together.
mots i wanted to see if it was possibile to put the new models in jke in mots and i found a way also the same with the new texture pack for jk as well and in my base folder of mots i have a folder named jkm,inside i have my sbx for mots and the jke.gob except renamed to goo.

chris i think put up a location for people to get it but i passed the 2 files to chris both sbx,but yes if im not mistaken i mustve gotten both files from massassi,back in who knows late 1999?maybe?
i cant remember when i got them,but i still kept them because of how it looked and and main thing of having the saber i the off mode in your hands,i never understood how lucasarts didnt make it that way.

Oh I know how to get JKE to work with MotS.. thats a simple fix hehe

the only thing on massassi that does not work is patch commander... but you can get that on jkdf2.net

Also what is that map in the MotS SS's it looks like an addon map with mara jade

Yes Massassi Temple is very well revered site for mods and the hub as well, and your new site is a great resource also, we are glad to see so much great work for JK and MoTS preserved and continuing. yes,its a add on level titled escape from eriadu,that one and the continuing adventures of mara jade are some of the best and my 2 super faves from mots.
The best one for jk was siege on derra 4,hands down that one was just amazing,play it with jke,god its so much better with the new textures and models!
yes thats why i had to find a way to get sbx to work because patch commander would not work for me now,but im glad to say i got the sbx mods to work with the jke mod.

I tried siege on derra 4 with the JKE and I saved the game but when I died and tried to load the game it froze up. I could only get the JKE to work with the main Jedi Knight game. Any Ideas?

Ham yoyo,i just tried siege on derra 4 and did a very fast quicksave and exited the game and then loaded my quicksave through the game menu and i had no problems.Have you had problems with saves in the regular game using jke?
Are you using any other mods?It would be interesting to see if anybody else is having this problem,i know im not,but you never know.
since the jke mod extends to all add on levels basically you should not be having a problem with saving if you can save during the main game.

I will try to load it through the game menu. I'm not running any other mods and I haven't had any trouble with the main game. But I haven't done much with it because the game is still a little dated for me. And for the first 5 years I had the game I played it like crazy before JO came along. But I still love JO and JA.

While I disagree with some of the creative choices (everything doesn't have to look just like Jedi Outcast..!), overall it's a pretty cool accomplishment, and I was excited to see some of my old faves like the Veamon and how they turned out in higher res.

I haven't tried the texture pack yet.

The coolest thing about these things is that they should be fully compatible online, even if people playing with you don't have them, since they're completely visual.

Sadly MotS doesn't have any unique model replacements, so some of the weapons look funny on the non-JK models. Still, pretty cool! I hope some other folks make new models for it, because the original creator is done working on it.

You have to be sure to start a new game with JKE enabled, add the unofficial patch, then add the updated textuers and then add the JKE enhanced folder to your main game folder and use the JKE.bat to start it.

It will look great, i am still amazed at what a great job the team did on this and hope to see something similar to MotS.
