I'm just going to post what everyone is going to tell you. Get Firefox here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
Everyone who knows what they're doing uses Firefox. You can import your bookmarks if you have any, too. And looking at your age, if you're on your "Family computer" - Firefox will not cause any problems with your folks or anything.
It's more secure. Prevents almost all spyware and adware. No pop-ups. Plugins that get rid of ads. And runs faster and better in nearly every way. I've been using Firefox for the last 4 or more years now. It'll only take you a day or so to get everything running smoothly (Flash and video support).
Seriously, don't use IE, you're probably loaded with spy/adware, so use Adaware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/single/trialpay.php
Really, just forget IE and go to Firefox.
