Grim Fandango is continuing the Film Noir style. If you watch any Humphrey Bogart movies you would notice that he smokes and drinks heavily in all his movies. Yet he does it with great style that would later kill him. With Grim Fandango everyone smokes and does it with style.

Yeah, that's what really makes the game excellent...the style, and the smoking (not condoning actually smoking) just supplements that style and makes it all the better...small details are what make good games...excellent.

I think they smoke because it makes you look edgy and cool. And as they're dead they don't have to worry about the health risks or the awful smell it produces. After all, what can nicotine do? Kill them again?
