Do people still care about those two games? I'm pretty sure the answer of some will be yes, but the "monumental importance" of this happening eludes me.

It's important, because now all kinds of ports can finally be made with the re-released source.

Ha ha, Heretic: the one and only Doom game I ever played. At work no less.

Too bad it took so long to release under GPL. Oh well, better late than never.
