Good idea, Rhett!
Interesting, it's not doing bad, but not great. But 76% is still a 'worth playing' rating in my book.

Wouldn't it be better to make clear which game those reviews refer to? I'm assuming they're about the 360 and PS3 versions, but we've got the other editions.

Well one review is marked 'Nintendo', so it's not likely to be a review for the PS3 or Xbox.

Not all clearly specify between PS3 and 360. If the magazine name doesn't spell it out, I'll try and mark system type where I can.

That's the review that mostly interests me, good going.
It didn't actually hit a bad score, but it isn't fantastic either.

Great idea Rhett! And I have to say for as hyped as this game has been, I'm rather disappointed with the reviews it has been getting, although it will not deter me from getting the game as I'm a rabid Star Wars fan.

I'm reminded of Pirates of Caribbean - "They're more guidlines than rules".
Too many people now solely base their opinion on what magazines or review sites tell them. Just because they dislike something doesn't mean we should too.
But 74.14% is still respectable, and still worth it for me.

I couldnt agree with you more. I play games before I read the review. I mean look at RC that got a ok rating but to me RC is one of the best SW games. Or even Battlefront 2. That got a low rating but did that stop thousands of SW fans from buying it? No. So do what I do hire or buy the game from EBgames and if you dont like it you can return it. Read the review after you either love it or hate it.

Should the Wii reviews really be added up to the PS3/X360 ones? The Wii version is significantly different from the other next-gen console versions...

Yes, I know, but it's a different version. The average including the Wii version is a wrong indication of how good the game is. The X360/PS3 (currently) are taking down the average of the Wii version, and the Wii version is making the X360/PS3 version look better than it really is in the reviews.

i've followed the reviews/gameplay progress for most of the systems, mostly throught gametrailers.com, gamespot, etc. One thing that seemed prevalent is that the euphoria and dmm are exclusive to 360/PS3. I was slightly disappointed to hear this since i'm a wii owner. Can anyone verify this?

Yes Euphoria and DMM are not present in the Wii version of the game.

Thats why the Wii has duel mode, to make up for the lack of DMM and Euphoria.
With the bad graphics the wii has (compared to 360 and PS3 (and maybe modern pc games, i don't know)) its never gonna have DMM and Euphoria

Shouldn't they wait for it to be released before they review the game?

They've all recieved copies to play through and review so that their reviews are published to coincide with the public release.

Yeah, I saw some sites that converted the letter scoring to 68.3% The 77% was based on my own assumptions as to what the letter-to-percentage scale was.

I heard (from the demo) that the game-play is kind-of arcade style is that why the game could be getting such low ratings???

Maybe but most serious reviewers aren't going to ding a game for just being of a certain genre. I'd be more inclined to believe that complaints about wonky controls, camera issues, sound bugs and a useless saber is what did it in. Nobody seems to have any problems with the force powers, thankfully.

What? I don't think they're knocking it for having arcade style gameplay. Or are they? I haven't actually read many of them in depth.

the latest issue (#38, October 2008) of XBox360: The Official XBox Magazine (UK)
Verdict : 8/10
Good points: compelling storyline; dark, edgy tone works well; really impressive visuals; force powers awesome
Bad points: not very sophisticated
Summary: the best Star Wars game in five years

I agree, I really enjoyed the demo so I continue to remain very anxious for Sept. 16th to roll around when my free time will be consumed with TFU .

Hah!
Stab PC gamers in the back, pander to the console masses, and create a game for 'frat boys' and people who never gave a damn about either gaming OR Star Wars until you made it look like Dragonball Z, and look what happens.
Here's what I had to say on TFU three months ago:

1) That means it's better than KOTOR. Which it isn't. At all.
BUT given that KOTOR was right on the terminus (2003), it's more fair to say:
2) There have barely been any Star Wars games in 5 years that anyone gave a damn about.
And you know your game is terrible when the XBOX MAGAZINE openly calls it 'unsophisticated' - the magazine for the very console that defined 'mainstream gaming'. But hey, you guys knew better. Clearly this is what Star Wars fans wanted - something moronic and straightforward with a hard-on for dumb action frills.

Well I haven't actually played it (I only own a Wii). I can, however, agree without playing it, that it's not as good as KOTOR (what SW game is?).
I just see it as another game from LA that getting attention for being from Star Wars. I will still buy it though.

If I understand correctly, then what you are trying to say is they still think the KOTOR PC version was the best SW game in the last 5 years?
With that, I can agree...
However, I can also agree that TFU still isn't as good as the console versions of KOTOR.

KOTOR was VERY well praised by the Xbox Community the only console it came to, Its what I played it on and still do today, no mods but its still great! TFU is no where close to KOTOR, I get more of a Bounty Hunter/Jedi Knight mix.

Different games, different era, different genre, plus we haven't played it yet. The five years thing is just a rough estimate and a assumption that the console version was the only release, I dont think the reviewer was interested in the exact date of KotOR's release to the day, especially since he's reviewing TFU, and for the record it is better than TSL (04), the only reason it's playable is because it's basically an expensive Mod of KotOR 1 (with bad unfinished story and characters) I was just pining for more KotOR lol
