Jun-la barely heard him. It was something like a holocron but not. There was a certain way to get it open. She just had to...She murmured something in archaic Avalonian and the box sprung to life, opening. She gave a short chuckle and said, "Well those lessons from the Earth-Benders were helpful."
She reached in and pulled out a small sphere. Holding it upright it came to life revealing a holo image of an Avalonian Jedi. The awe effect was spoiled by Matton asking, "Is it me or does that Jedi look a lot like the princess here?"

Komad recognised her though. "I believe this a recording of her grandmother Ashira-li. It can't be good that it was in the hands of a Sith Lord." He commented. "We should see what it contains, and speak with the Jedi Council about this as soon as possible."

"No not Master Starlighter," Jun-la replied in a dreamy voice, "This is much older. Taken from a master, possibly ended in death."
Tulre then said something in a similar dreamy voice, "Older, when the wheel last made a turn."
The twins were enthralled with the figure. Tulre knew that it wasn't their father's mother. His mother's hair was a natural dark brown and had blonde highlights, a mark of her affliation with the Haida women. This one had lighter hair, almost a golden brown and the eyes were different.
Matton took a closer look as well. Face value it looked like Jun-la but even he could tell she was different and it was much older. He pointed it out, "The twins are right. This thing is much older. Look at the age spots on the outside."

"Indeed it is. I wonder if Virul stole it in the first place, or if this was secondhand thievery." Komad commented. He looked at the hologram further. Clearly she was important, whoever she was. "Any idea who she is then? That might be of some help in figuring out how it came into Virul's possession. And for once, I doubt Tyrannus had anything to do with this. Different body or not, he'd sense Virul, and they weren't on good terms, even by Sith standards, the last time I saw both of them together."

"Both ruled by the same master," Jun-la replied in her dreamy voice. She peered harder and thought for a moment. Then the words came to her and see murmured them. She placed the sphere on the ground and the image expanded.
Besides the woman there two men standing there. One had green eyes like Andros Starlighter and the other had a sure about cocky look about him. The one with green eyes spoke in the second river Avalonian, "This was made in time gone by for the lines forged that are mine."
The woman then spoke, "Forged for the time when champions meet and again the wheel turns a beat."
The cocky one with brown eyes then said, "So activated by familial ties and they heed the peoples' cries."

Komad thought about this. "It seems they knew about both families descended from Revan, and that means Virul knows." Komad commented. "Are you even sure there is only one enemy? There are too many unconnected events here for this to be part of one single plan. Virul may be using the Rashikians as a means to divide the Senate, but they are not working together directly."

"I don't think so," Jun-la replied. She had been listening to the riddle for some time. "It has always been known that the daughter of Revan had descendants but for the most part, the paternal side has never been known. It is a secret that has been kept by the Loremaster and the family itself, revealed to the few that could be trusted."
"You have any idea?" Matton asked. He had been enamored by the third person in the hologram. He looked sort of like him but also he noticed that the young warrior Tonatius bore a similar resemblance. He thought it one of those wierd coincidences like the doppelganger effect.
Jun-la realized that what she was going to say may be a shock to some. She summoned the datasphere and it deactivated and returned to her open palm. She closed her fist and said, "The paternal side is the bloodline of Kirabaros, the Heart of the Guardian. The woman is the daughter of Revan, my mother, the green eyed one is the son of Kirabaros and the third is the child of one called Atton Rand. his line descended to the wife of Master Hethra and to you scoundrel. They were and are the Children of the Jedi."

(I thought we were sticking to Revan being male)
"My family line is descended from Revan's son Owen Kaltas. His line was known to the Jedi but to few others. Though for millennia we kept the bloodline alive in secret, we still remained wary and did what we could to protect the the galaxy without drawing attention to ourselves." Komad pointed out. "Interesting that neither line is entirely human anymore."

((We are. The woman referred to is his daughter. The daughter is called Jun-la's mother))

"It was always said that Revan was not of known space. Perhaps there is some truth to that," Tonatius replied after finding his breath. He had been suprised to hear of his relationship to the Children of teh Jedi. Their lines were thought to be lost. "According to legend, the Children of teh Jedi were the most powerful. Probably due to the bonds between then."
"That would be obvious since one married another. I am curious though as to how you know this," Matton added, looking at Jun-la.
"Yes how do you know, my Lady?" Tonatius replied, giving the honor due to her.
"My years at home and beyond the Outer Rim. That and the Loremaster helped me."

"Those who are descended from Revan know to keep aware of their heritage." Komad commented. Komad started to wonder what this would mean for his own family, as on his mother's side, he carried Secura blood, and Greea was descended from Jaden Korr. "We should discuss this further in the morning." He then stated. "If you wish to return to my apartment for the rest of the night you may, though I will understand if you would rather go with Jun-la. I would prefer you remain on Coruscant until after we speak to the Council again, however." He told Tonatius specifically.

"Not coincidence this is," Jun-la replied, "Where blood is tied so must it stand together with teh Children of the Jedi. Things happen for a reason and that cannot be changed but as you suggest the Council must be spoken to and I take my leave. Besides I don't think this Virul creature ever touched it. If he did there would be the taint that is like death to our senses." She then turned to head back to the speeder. It had been a long night and she needed the rest.
Tulre and Matton followed leaving behind Tonatius. He was still in slight shock at what he found out. He wanted to know if his mother had known. He gave a slight nod to Komad and followed them.

After returning to the apartment, Komad said to Greea. "I still can't believe that after twenty years, he's 'alive' and causing trouble for the galaxy." And with that, he returned to bed.

The next morning he went to the Council Chambers with the others present at the attack the night before. "Last night, there was an attempt made on my life by an assailant wielding a red lightsaber. He admitted to the murder of Roan Fel, and claimed to be Darth Virul." He told the rest of the Council. "Impossible. Darth Virul was killed twenty years ago. You were part of the mission that ended in his death." Kol Skywalker replied. "I am aware of that. However, shortly after that, his spirit manifested itself during the Battle of Rhen Var, took control of my sister, then the Jedi Scooter Tory, who killed himself in a failed attempt to destroy Virul's spirit." Komad explained. "Then there is far more at stake than we thought." Master Skywalker commented.

Jun-la and the others went back tot he ship. It was clear to Tonatius that she wasn't going to say more that night. He understood that the decision to share knowledge rests with the beholder. It was a Jedi and Avalonian belief that knowledge did hold power and the choice to reveal it had to be weighed carefully. He was content to wait and wait he did until they went to the council chambers in the morning.
He followed Jun-la's lead of kneeling and bowing before the masters. He remainined sitting on her knees as she did when she said, "Indeed the situation is grave my masters. Yet it is a cycle that is destined to repeat time after time. As the elders have said, the wheel has turned full circle. Again a battle must be fought."

"We did not expect the Sith to return so soon." Komad commented. "However, Master Kaltas, this is a Sith Lord that we have encountered before. You know better than I that Darth Virul led the Sith Triumvirate until twenty years ago." Quinlan Vel, Greea's former apprentice, stated. "He might as well be. We have no idea how much he has changed in twenty years, and we don't entirely know what effect possessing other people's bodies might have had on him." Komad added. "We don't actually know for sure that he's really Virul, but that does not make him any less dangerous." Kol Skywalker commented.

"Sith, Rashikian, titles merely for what that darkness of evil is called," Jun-la replied, "The Jedi, the Republic, those of the light. Constant battle to maintain a balance of both. One cannot live without the other. Children of the Jedi cannot exist without the Blood of the King." Jun-la looked at the masters. She held the datasphere in her hand.

"And yet they cannot peacefully coexist, and therein lies the paradox." Komad commented. "If we allow the Sith to exist, we threaten our own existence, and as such, we try to stop them, which threatens the necessity of our existence. And you know that the Republic is not inherently good, or unified, and it is on the verge of civil war." Kol knew about Komad's apparent obsession with the divisions in the Senate. "This is indeed an opportune moment for the Sith to return." He suggested. "It would seem that way at first, but it is not so simple. Virul also admitted to using Senator Fel to divide the Senate before kllling him, claiming 'he was of more use dead than alive'. Fel himself mentioned something coerced shortly before his death." Komad added. "You were once emotionally involved with Senator Fel. Are you certain that what feelings you still have for him do not cloud your judgement?" Kol asked. "That was decades ago, and we had both moved on." Komad replied, slightly annoyed at the overly personal question.

"No need to be annoyed Master Komad," Jun-la said, rightly guessing his feelings.
"Any issues you have, and still have must be resolved," Tulre added, echoing the thoughts of his sister. To many masters it was annoying how they could finish each other's sentences and hear each other's thoughts with clarity. It was like a collective hive mind but the individuals there. Even highly gifted twins didn't have that same effect.
"The lesson of Jolee Bindo is that in a clash like this the dark side is never gone. Suppressed yes but always lurking, waiting for it's chance." Jun-la placed the sphere on the ground in front of her. "Perhaps a clue may be in here?"

Andros, old as he may be, knew when something was amiss. His daughter had left suddenly but he figured it had to do with Almalexia's boy. He shook his head. He had way too many secrets for one lifetime and yet the very survival of his family and others required those secrets kept until such a time that should be revealed. He was wondering if he was right in speeding things along as he stared at the blue image of an old friend. He asked, "Did she find it?"
"Find it yes. Opened it yes. Though I think she wasn't suprised to see the image."
"I imagined that she wouldn't. She has heard many times that she takes after my mother and that her brother takes after my father." Andros gave a wry smile at the memory.
"Do you think she will understand the meaning behind it?"
Andros had been deep in thought but returned the question, "Komad will be suspicious. Always was ever since that time. Healthy suspicion is good but his... Jun-la will have studied her history and I suspect some teachers have shown her the way as well. She will have traced family lines but for the twins to truly understand, they have to know the history of their beginnings."
"Komad will insist that Revan had only a son you know."
"Yes I know. Proves how good we were at hiding my side of the family tree."
"And how good you were at keeping secrets."
"Yes," Andros replied, "Thank you old friend and may the Great Ones see you safe."
"Good-bye old frind," and the holo image disappeared.
Andros sighed a bit, organizing his thoughts and assuming his usual expression. He went out to the training yard where Geiph and Miklos were demonstrating a technique that Republic squadrons used and how Avalonian tactics would give element of suprise. They had just finished when Andros walked up and said, "Squadron battle tactics, Geiph? You work fast old friend."

"Then it would be best to activate it." Kol replied. Having seen some of the Holocron, Komad wondered how something that ancient would have a clue to Virul's plan. He did know, however that conflict was no longer avoidable.

Jun-la gave a nod of acquiesence and ooked at the sphere. She picked it up and spoke in archaic Avalonian, "Covers thrown back, light is shone. Reveal to me what must be known." She held it up and the sphere floated on its own.
Again the three Jedi stood, forming a sort of triad looking at their audience. The woman spoke first, "What do you seek?"
The man with the green eyes then asked, "Ask a question."
"And we shall tell," the man with the brown eyes finished.
Jun-la looked at Kol Skywalker, her eyes asking what she was to do.

Andros looked over the ideas that Geiph had and said, "I think these will work particularly if we have to defend Coruscant. If anything history has shown that an enemy attacks a central government at the heart to crush. Is this not right Gieph?"

"Ask what they know of the Sith plot to divide the Republic. Even though civil war is inevitable, we're more likely to end it sooner the more we know." Kol replied.

"The trouble is, we're out on the borders of Known Space, and Coruscant is at the Core. If there was an attack, it I doubt we could make it in time." Gieph pointed out. "These Rashikians seem to be focusing on this of space. They'd be put to better use defending Avalon."

"Avalon has always been a threat to them. We had been fighting since the beginning of the Force," Miklos replied, "Lady Ashira-Li always knew that we would be fighting them sometime soon and she tried to make ready." His voice held a slight sad note.
Andros recognized the sound. Not long ago, he found out that Miklos was his mother's adopted brother. Miklos had a twin who died during the Clone Wars and had married his brother's wife who was his mother's lady in waiting. His son was actually the son of Andros, his namesake. Family. That is what we all are even though we are not related by blood. He spoke aloud, "Yes, my mother did know. She was brave and loyal to the Republic. Perhaps it is right that we have some guard here. Since Belos and Amshrey are warrior worlds, it would be wise to use units from there. What do you think Gieph? Would you be willing to lead Avalonians of Mandalorian birth?"

"Error," the brown eyed hologram replied.
"Entity Sith unknown," the green eyed hologram added.
"You must ask a question," the woman replied.
Jun-la sat back on her heels. She was comfortable in that position having sat that way all her life. She pondered the response. Sith and Rashikian had become interchanged and taken to mean the same thing nowadays. Four thousand years ago it was more clearly defined. Since the sphere was like a holocron, perhaps it had a teaching component in it like the Jedi holocron recovered from Vader's Fortress. She asked, "What are the Rashikians?"
The green eyed man replied, "The Rashikians are the abomination of a people dedicated to preserving life and protecting the Republic."
"Rashikians are death, Avalonians are life," the woman added.
"Both come from the same place and both must return to the same place," the brown eyed man ended.
Matton was slightly annoyed at the fact that a straight answer was asked for but none was given. He spoke his annoyace out loud, "Doesn't really give a straight answer does it?"
Jun-la and Tulre had been listening to the answer. Both had been raised to listen and eventually they would hear all. It was Tulre who replied to Matton, "If you listen, the answer comes. It is the way we teach our children. If you gave them the answer every time, then what value is it to you?"
"Well all I know is hokey religions and such are nothing but simple tricks and nonsense," Matton replied.
"Listen," Tulre repeated. It was hard for non Avalonians to understand but it formed the basis for Jedi Teachings.
Jun-la asked, "How did the Rashikians receive their name?"
"When they fought and lost," the woman replied.
"The Force began at home. Those that wanted power to dominate learned to love death," the brow eyed man said.
"Those who wanted peace and justice learned to love life," the green eyed man finished.
Jun-la looked at the others watching and wondered if they were understanding why she asked this line of questions. She said to them, "It was not made in this lifetime but one long ago. It wouldn't know of this plot."

(I'm starting to figure stuff out for Part V now, so I'm wondering, what would make a better title: The Threefold War or Death to the Sith/Rashikians/Jedi?)

"The Sith and the Rashikians are not entirely the same. The Sith as we know them were once exiled Jedi, who fled Korriban, where they encountered the True Sith species. Over millennia they became one people, lusting for power, and stopping at nothing to get it." Komad commented. "Of course, this means both are after control of the galaxy, and will fight both the Republic and eachother for it."

"I will lead any who will follow." Gieph replied. "As long as they are capable soldiers. Remember though, this is not what I was trained for. I was trained to lead a single squad in covert missions behind enemy lines. I've been paying a bit of attention to reports from Coruscant, and the Rashikians may not be the only attacking Avalon in the near future."

((Threefold War sounds better)))

"Respectfully, they are the same," Jun-la replied, she then turned and asked, "What of those that returned home?"
The woman spoke, "Once they followed the way of life."
"Power they sought," the brown-eyed man said.
"Traveled to the dark places. Following the call of home," the green eyed man said.
"The dark places where those already exiled are sent." The woman in the hologram looked sad.
"Hearts never forgot," the green eyed man said.
"Merged with ancestors, those that chose death," the brown eyed man replied.
"Ancestors?" Matton asked aloud
"Those that lived when the Force began," all three said together, "Divided into life and death."
Jun-la didn't know what to say to the masters. She had known how similar the histories were. It was hard to comprehend though. There was one last question that she yearned to ask. She looked to see if Kol Skywalker wanted to say anything.

"Well they have Mandalorian blood in them," Andros replied. "They are warriors and they follow orders. They know the way of the sword better than the those of us here."
"Not true sister-son. For you trained with them," Miklos replied softly, acknowledging for the first time his relationship with Andros' mother.
"They were born and live by it. I ask Geiph for they need one who is a leader," Andros said, "Are you a leader?"

(Yeah, Death to the ______ was more just a nod to Death to the Daleks, one my favourite Doctor Who serials, although Death to the Sith might be fitting since Virul's practically immortal)
"Yes. I am a leader." Gieph replied.

"With the Sith backing the systems that are threatening to leave the Republic, and the Rashikians unlikely to stop with Avalon, this is a war that I do not know the Republic will be able to win." Kol replied. Komad began to wonder about how Virul could have done this. He was a fool and a brute, more likely to wipe out an entire planet than conquer it and use its resources for greater conquest. Regardless, civil war was upon the Republic.

((I will introduce the true Blood King. Virul will still have a part and Tyrannus has his))

Jun-la listened and decided to ask the question, "What is the Key to the Light and Dark?"
"The Children of the Jedi," all three answered, "The Children of the Jedi."
"Three lines, three keys," the woman said.
"Of honored houses in a war gone by," the green eyed man said.
"Three against three," the brown eyed man said.
"Three against three?" Tulre asked the question. He had studied numerology among other things with the master Air Benders. He knew the power of numbers as much as he knew the power of blood
"Three lines of honored houses," the woman repeated, "The warrior returning home."
"The warrior of two," the green eyed man said.
"And the warrior lost and found," the brown eyed man added.
"The Children of the Jedi. Three lines of great houses," the woman added before the sphere turned itself off and returned to Jun-la's hand.
Tonatius looked at everyone in the room. He said, "Three lines of three houses. We know two, what of the third?"

(ironic; this has had the longest run time-wise, but the shortest post-wise. Another post or two, then gear up for Part V?)
"Perhaps Revan had a third child, that neither the Jedi nor the Avalonians were aware of. But that does not explain the third enemy." Kalla suggested. "One of Revan's offspring absent from the Kaltas Tomb on Rhen Var is understandable, but two? Two secrets kept by two different lines." Komad commented. "Who are each three?" He then asked the holocron.

Jun-la frowned a bit to think. She uttered her thoughts aloud, "There were only two. Yours and mine. The three refer to three lines. One was Revan, one of the Guardian..." she looked at Matton and Tonatius, both looking at her with a raised brow. Could it be? "...and the scoundrel?"
Her brother looked at her and asked, "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
Jun-la nodded, "Under our noses."
"Makes sense."
"Two can equal one."
"Alright what are you two going into?" Matton asked. The twin talk was annoying and it was clear in his voice.
Jun-la, half excited said, "The three against three is the light versus dark. Three is considered powerful. The three for the light are from the lines of Revan, the Guardian Kirabaros and the Lost Jedi."
"The warrior returning home was Revan," Tulre explained, "Revan's true home was always in the Unknown Regions on our world. He had two children yes. The daughter returned home after serving in a war. You Master Kaltas have returned home. Always returning home, the same as us. It's in our blood to return home."
"The warrior of two is Kirabaros. His son married the daughter of Revan. Of two. Always the lines have been connected." Jun-la watched to make sure her audience was listening, "The warrior lost and found is a lost Jedi, one the Exile brought to the ways of the Jedi, the scoundrel Atton Rand."
Matton looked at her as if she were out of her mind. Tonatius though thought about it. He didn't know about the Force but understood that there was always something greater in play in the galaxy. He said, "Then all three houses are here in this room but it implies only one from each. How do we know which is which?"
That was a question Jun-la couldn't answer. Greea however said, "Perhaps it won't matter. The twins make one since they function as one. My husband is connected to these events and the two Rands," she motioned to Matton and Tonatius, "also function as one. They just need to learn how."
It was a plausible one since Jun-la and Tulre had been together and trained together. They were complimentary to each other. Matton and Tulre as connected as they were, were just the opposite of each other yet they made a balance. Jun-la thought a bit and then said, "Perhaps you are right Greea but I think that one is missing from the equation. She looked at Kalla who had been silent the whole time. "Two can function as one. What do you think, Master Skywalker?"

Andros looked at his old friend in the eye. He said, "Whether it be a small or large group, you are a leader as such. Tiye, the daughter of the Clan Ordo will help. Is that alright to you?"

((One or two more is ok. I can explain the three of darkness in this story or in part V. It depends on how Kol Skywalker answers the question.))

Before Kol could respond, Komad spoke up again. "You forget, Jun-la, that like you, I am also a twin. I believe my sister will have her part to play in this." He commented. "Perhaps, but I believe it is your daughter who the other named from the Line of the Warrior Returning Home." Kol replied. "It is clear that two of the other three are the Sith and the Rashikians, but who would the last be?"

Jun-la replied gently, "I did not forget but something tells me that she has a different part to play. Your daughter however is connected deeply to you. As to the Three of Darkness, one is Virul and one is Tyrannus. Both powerful yes but both serving one master, the true master of darkness."
"Are you meaning?" Tonatius asked. Like all Avalonian children, he had learned the history of his people. He knew most of the stories and legends of his people, particularly the one between the masters of light and darkness.
"Yes," Jun-la nodded, "The one called the Blood King in Basic."

"Then our worst fears have been realised. If we cannot emerge victorious from this conflict, then all will be lost. The Jedi have been brought to the verge of extinction before, but if the Blood King triumphs, then no Jedi will be left standing, and all of the galaxy will perish." Master Skywalker fearfully commented. The fog of war had descended once again upon the galaxy.

(Well, that'll be my last post. On to Part V!)

Jun-la looked at the five who were more or less chosen, perhaps against their wills, but through the will of the Force. It would be a long road ahead but maybe, just maybe, three against three wouldn't be so bad.

To Be Continued...
