AAAAAnyway, moving on to another thread related subject...
I give props to that company who attempted to make the Super Mario Bros franchise into an educational game or two. Mario is missing, and Mario's time machine. They did a great job of bringing history lessons into the home on consoles in the early-mid '90s. It was the first attempt to use popular VG icons characters to promote education in gaming, or at least some practical use for systems instead of them just being these little electronic devices we hook up to our "idiot lanterns" and twitter with for hours on end.
EDIT: OHHHHHHH! I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rhett, you lucky bastard! You truly are a superhero.

I agree Q...
We who have been around here in the 04-05 range remember the Galaxy Forge project and if you really have a ton of free time you might be able to find some remnants of that 'event' from way back then.
No more about TSLRP here though, ok folks? While slightly related to the topic it can only serve to heat things up as the people on both sides can't seem to control themselves.

I remember you and D3 citing that years ago when I first joined and I did a search and read everything I could find about it. It was both an entertaining and enlightening read.
Yup, I'm trying to spread the info on things like this because many newer posters have no idea that people get their "jollies" by stringing them along with bloated promises. To tell everyone the truth I am personally against WIP threads because of the bad feelings caused by the GF project and others since, I much prefer to lay a new mod upon an unsuspecting populace... far more fun for me that way. -RH
OK, then I'll make another GAS statement:
Baldur's Gate 2 was Bioware's greatest game and, with the notable exception of KotOR, it's been all downhill from there.

KotOR I HK-47 is not funny. It's clearly tilting at wyrd humour with a psychotic edge, except it's missing the wyrd. And the humour. TSL is where things actually get good in terms of humour - both with HK and elsewhere (most notably right after Peragus).
NWN2 has the funniest single moment of either NWN or KotOR series in the Blacklake District. I'll let you figure out what I mean.

How about Dino Crisis after beating it a second time in a row? It all becomes prehistoric and silly, like a bass fish shotgun, similarly banana and bones pistol...it's actually quite hilarious.

Of course it's lame! That's why it's fun.
Chapter 12 of A Soul Adrift is out.
Short stories:
T'katlu: On the planet Felucia, a young apprentice of the Dark Side thinks back to the beginning of her training as she lies in wait for her prey...
All the Time: After four years in the Unknown Regions, the Exile returns to the known galaxy to visit an old enemy.
Broken: A master of the Dark Side finds himself about to lose the one thing he cares about--and he will do anything to stop her from endangering herself.

Battlefront 1 Was way to short. And didn't include enough content... It could have been better, a lot better.
Battlefront 2 Was so unrealistic. Had good replay value, but also lacked content.
Mario Kart Wii Boring after 10min... Seriously, Nintendo could, and needs to do better on the next game.
Mario Party (any) This one really gets me... How can anyone like these games..? It gets boring after your first turn.
^Just a few games I thought were overrated...

Battlefront 2 is the same frickin' thing as Battlefront 1. The only significant additions were features that the first one should have already had in the first place (that is, space combat and a single-player story mode that was worth playing). BF2 is a glorified expansion pack of BF1, much like Jedi Academy was for Jedi Outcast (except with even less replay value).

Dont forget the removal of bad ai(they became artificial nothing, they dont deserve the intelligence part in BF2), prone, most of the good maps from BF1 and the addition of game ruining heroes

and the funny thing is that i actually enjoy these "problems" like the exploration with the Mako and even the story. ok, yeah, the story was kind of predictable, but it was still a good story. my only problem with the game was the weird texture issues on the 360 version. i guess it all does come down to taste, but i just can't seem to identify with all the Mass Effect downers.
and i do have some more beef with the gaming industry: the decline of PC games. for the last time: quit blaming it all on piracy. if you could just admit that its more difficult to develop for PC hardware (and its almost infinite combinations) than it is for consoles, i would be more than happy.
and another thing: quit punishing those of us that actually legally purchase games by bundling it with ludicrously limiting copy protection software. if someone's going to copy it, they're going to do it no matter how good the copy protection software is. heck, its not surprising to see your "uncrackable" copy protected game available on torrent sites within days before the game hits the stores.
and its not like games that don't have copy protection don't sell. the game "Sins of a Solar Empire" is proof enough of that as it has sold over a million units in the past year despite the complete lack of any copy protection software (not even a CD check!!). just make a good game, and trust us: we'll buy it.

Knights of the Old Republic: I love the atmosphere and the feel of this game. Overall I must have spent hours playing it when I first bought it in 2003-2004.
Knights of the Old Republic II: Despite all of the hate out there, I still have fond memories about this game. It's a complete parallel to the feel of its predecessor; the atmosphere is gloomy and dark, without the feel of hope. Now if only they made a KOTOR I & II Final Mix with all missing content restored, with added bonuses. Maybe for a handheld? (I know, wishful thinking)
Jedi Academy: The gameplay struck me as a little odd, I could never really get into this game very much. Not too fun imo.

I loved HK's psycho-ness, but Jolee had the funniest line "12--no, wait--13!!!", and another one right after that if you have Canderous in the party, too. I need to find a mod that'll let you have more party members just so I can hear all the different interactions between Jolee and the others.

There are a few of them there, but my favorite is still Sand's comment if you bargain with Tholapsyx before going to take out the fire giants. Those 7 words made the game worth every penny and more.

IMO Outcast is superior to Academy, even with Academy's "improvements". Said improvements seemed to be mostly flash and less substance.

academy was pretty fun.
Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.

No doubt. That game was awesome. I remember playing it way back when it was first released. But, no way those two SW games are better than KotOR.
Battlefront I and II were both awesome. Battlefront is the reason why I joined this forum. Hell, at the time, those were my favourite games. And I remember getting stoked and hyped for Battlefront II. And it was worth it.
Jedi Outcast was so fun. Definitely up there with KotoR as my favourite SW games. Too bad a friend is borrowing it read now. Kinda want to play it.

@ stingerhs: I guess I appreciate it more when a developer has the guts to delay their game so they can fix all of those obvious problems.

- Deus Ex : Invisible War is more fun to play than Deus Ex
- Half life 2, Episodes 1 & 2 are better than Half Life 2
- 90% of all non-RPG boss fights are boring, repetative, and occasionally downright tedious.
- Graphics don't matter that much
- Fallout 3's VATS was the greatest part of any game in 2008.

Lol.
I guess a more accurate way for me to phrase it would be '- Deus Ex : Invisible War was more fun to play than Deus Ex'. I had such low expectations of it after reading the reviews that I put off playing it until a year after release, only to throughly enjoy myself.
Consequently, I've replayed it many more times than the origional (I do honestly think though that the sequel has more replay value).

Same here! That game is awesome and will always have a special place in my heart.
Also, Episode 1 Racer is great.
NWN 2: So boring, just like NWN 1. I'd rather play BG2 a few more times than to endure the boredom that is NWN. (motb is awesome though..)

To each his own, I suppose. I don't hate Deus Ex: Invisible War, it's a great game alright, just not "Deus Ex" like the original. And the gameplay in the two games was substantially different, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone likes the latter over the former. Trex here I'm guessing must be a console gamer at heart, yes?

So have I, because replaying is pretty much a given in a game that gives you hundreds of choices and lasts only 8-10 hours. This reminds me, I need to see if someone has managed to speedrun the game in 20 seconds.
Lemme add some more names now:
Max Payne 2: Fall of Max Payne - As much as I loved the production values of the title, I hated the Neo-style bullet-time gameplay and the direction the story took. They twisted all the preconceptions I had of the character, and while Max was still okay, Mona and Vlad were just annoying. Gameplay was way easier than the original, what with that stupid standard bullet time indea. And most of all, I miss the old Max with his quirky face expressions.
Planescape: Torment - Could be that it's just old now, but that combat was terribly annoying and distracting. After about half of the game, I just went on godmode. For a game with a story that's a whole two decades ahead of its time, the combat was pretty annoying.
Bookworm and Bookworm Adventures - Two largely underrated games, especially the latter. A well-designed, fun to play RPG adventure involving word creation? I'm sold!

real life is actually a good game when you turn cheat codes on.
Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.
