My personal favourite was brought to my attention as Barack Obama announcing Oprah as his Secretary of State. I was hesitant, but didn't think to look at the link before clicking it. So much worse than just an average Rick Roll.

My rick roll story is kind of interesting. I was browsing GameFAQs forums, and I find a link. I click it, and the Rick hijacks my browser, moving it all around, making it hard for me to close it. And when I did close it, a window popped up with the lyrics. Luckily, Task Manager saved me from viewing the whole Roll.
I now don't go to Youtube and I check links using Firefox before clicking it.

However someone thought it would be pretty funny to send out a "training link" to everyone here... It was an internal site with that darn vid on it... Companywide Rick Roll. Epic.

I've been "rick rolled" plenty of times. Thing is, I actually like the song, I'm old enough to have listened to it many times back in the day. What I still laugh about is his dancing, it's just priceless. 
Though anymore, rick rolling along with the words "epic" and "fail" [and it's many forms] are the most over-done, warn out things on the internet.

first time: someone already mentioned this one, but a friend sent me a link to something that was supposed to be a serious thing of something and the window didnt close, only popped up the lyrics in individual windows
second: same freind sent me a video called "Nalin' Palin" i guess its a real porno, but just as i was gonna get good....rick roll'd
third: Macy's day thanksgiving parade....*sob* didnt see that coming at all

Early 2008 I was in transition from kendo back to european rapier fencing. We the fencing club (get it through your skull, this is not the epee-foil olympic style crap--this is the medieval kind with bigger heavier swords that can HURT you) had made a yahoo group. 'Twas inclusive of the regional areas surrounding our town.
One of the more mischievous members of OUR group decided to make a rickroll page with all sorts of custom alert messages attached in succession. Can't close the window until you okay ALL the messages. Click the button and another pops up. (Hold the enter/return button to go through it fast). That hit every member. All 150+ of us.
You can imagine juuuuuuuust how aggravating it was for the eldest regional members who had been doing it for 30+ years.
Yup, nothing like bringing shame and embarrasement down upon the group.
--It's okay, I got him back later on when I recorded him sucking his thumb asleep and showed his girlfriend the video.  And some of the stuff I drew all up on his face with a marker while he was crashed out--priceless.
