For the last couple months every other sunday there has been a jazz performance. Tonight was the "finale" and the main act had our La Crosse Jazz Orchestra lead by Wycliffe Gordan, the performance was phenomenal. You know a musician is good when he can make his instrument talk

d.c. was awesome.
Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.

Dang it all, I acquired a rare and out of print CD box set, and one of the discs has a minor scratch that affects just the last minute of the last track. The track rips fine, though, and I can barely see the scratch, so there must be a way to buff that out. I know back in the day you could use Brasso for this, but I've heard they changed their formula, and it will damage CDs now. Anyone have any suggestions?

Was having a great weekend with the girlfriend... until we got to talking yesterday afternoon, and that opened a whole can of drama. I don't exactly know what I said to tip things over the edge... I just know it was the wrong thing.
Lesson learned: Stop talking. Especially about feelings and stuff. It never leads to good things.
Or maybe I just overstayed my time there. Things would probably still be great had I come home after breakfast to take care of some stuff at my house... which crossed my mind, actually. I should have gone with my instincts. Lesson learned there too...
Needless to say: I feel kinda crappy about it today. Didn't sleep great last night, either.
Another lesson learned: Being hopelessly single really sucks... but being in a relationship is it's own headache sometimes.

Ed, I was up pretty close to you over the weekend. One of my cousins threw a 75th b-day party for one of the surviving aunts on my mother's side of the family. Without giving away too many of the geographical details, we were pretty close to Faxon Park, which I remember being there in my youth.

Cool!
Yeah, I can walk there, though it might take a while to get there from my place. But I used to live in that neighborhood.
And I think I drove right by the park this weekend in my travels.

Ed, I don't know the details.
One thing I have learned in my relationship is there are bad moments. But you always come back together and try to work them out, and cherish the good ones.

Or there are no bad moments but one day she decides to marry someone else anyway. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

yeah man...just let the woman do all of the talking, i've learned my lesson countless times...saying stuff that i know i should just keep to myself, but that's where a stopwatch comes in handy and I see if I can get her to go for world's longest rant. lmao. funny to me, not so much to her.
we're engaged now.

Nooo... Of course not!
We're taking a few days apart to let said drama cool down. She's visiting her mom and grandmother on the Cape.

A year ago, Google was just for gmail and the searching. Now Google+, Picasa, Chrome, and the rest have taken over. This may be a symptom of my Chromebook or living with a Googler. I'm not sure.

Google is gearing up to be the new AOL, CompuServe, Microsoft, Facebook, and Apple... all rolled into one.
I think they want "Google" to be synonymous and indistinguishable from "Internet" or "World Wide Web" the way that MS once wanted to be with "PC" and AT&T with "phone company".
I'm not sure that they'll succeed... but it's possible. And I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing if they do... or not...
The concert tonight is stressful... and the relationship drama hasn't really abated...
My day hasn't gone so well so far...

Girls *need* drama, Ed. This is in connection to their cycle and/or also sexual compensation activities, plus some other minor things. Up to the tiny, unimportant things like previous relationships. Eventually it will always cut down to an indirect proportional drama-sex relation.
However, just like T-Rex, girls can only recognise moving objects, but not steady ones. Same thing with love and, feelings and the boy of their heart. Just keep on moving it, Ed.

yeah i am..running every other day. my time will come down, probably by alot at osut.
i have a meeting with an investigator tomorrow morning from the national guard, not sure...probably cause my credit is really bad or something or that citation for my fiance's dog charging after a kid while i was moving out of the dump still stands...i wouldn't know, because i never received a citation. good times...no sense getting worried, i'm going to osut either way.

Spent Thursday in Plymouth at a rental lake house, visiting with friends from my grade-school years. It was great to see them... And about 20 degrees cooler and far, far less humid where they were.
The GF and kids had a good time too.
Spent all day yesterday just trying not to die from heat exhaustion... And resetting circuit breakers every hour from the over-taxed AC units.
Storms here today. Hopefully, that keeps it cooler.

Yes.
It involves a gallon of corn oil, 6 large inner tubes, a diesel locomotive, and at least 13 barnyard animals...

ran the 3.5 mile straight through at 34 minutes and 30 seconds today. I would like to see that time at 28 minutes and 30 seconds which means i gotta take 6 minutes off the current time. I put heel cups in my shoes, first time running with them in, it seem to help my Achilles/ankle.
orientation at walmart went alright..gotta tell them i'm bailing a week from monday. should be fun.

Dear God... D&D!
I saw almost all of my D&D nerd friends from my grade school days last weekend... and my girlfriend's daughter found a bunch of my miniature D&D figurines a couple of days ago. She dug the ones I had painted, and asked if we could start a project where we paint the rest...
I went out and bought a paint set and brushes the other day.
And my girlfriend actually wants to play it. She thinks it sounds fascinating...
I seem to be getting pulled back into the world of pencil and paper RPG-ing whether I like it or not...
Hmmm...

Pish...
I haven't touched a D&D rulebook since circa 1986... long before 2nd Edition came out.
I'm not about to invest the money and time in a whole new set of rules... 1st Ed. all the way, baby!
I still have all the funky Gygax 70's and 80's AD&D books and supplements, as well as the original boxed " D&D Basic" sets. If I do bother to ever try my hand at it again, that's gonna be the way I go.

Yes. Satan is obviously in dire need of an army of pre-teen virgin ultra-nerds.
However: When I was playing D&D, I was just too busy researching ancient history, medieval weapons and armor, life in dark-ages times, mythology, Tolkien, the architecture of castles and cathedrals, and cartology just to play the damn game properly to really be a good evil minion... so I fell out of favor and was eventually disfellowshipped.
