Clone Wars plans to resurrect Darth Maul

http://www.starwars.com/news/darth_m...urns_2012.html

To quote a dear friend of mine: "I'm sickened and disgusted."

But am I surprised? Not a bit. With all the continuity changes this kind of thing's been a long time coming.

Your thoughts?

In fairness, Darth Maul has been resurrected three time already. One of which was considered canon.

"The decision to continue Darth Maul's story was something that came directly from George, and we all agreed that his return needed to be unique, unexpected and revenge filled. We don't know what his outcome will be, and as a fan -- that's exciting."
That's funny because Lucas specifically stated he had him cut in half in order to make sure fans couldn't find a way to bring him back. That still didn't stop fans and it looks like it now didn't stop George.

lets just retcon the OT and have Anakin use the force to re-grow his limbs and heal his burnt flesh, then we can CGI Hayden in to the 2017 special special edition

It's kind of like your average daytime soap opera....no one ever really dies. Maybe he pulled a Voldemort and put a part of his essence in a holocron.

Following the current trends and the way things are going in Star Wars, this sounds disturbingly possible.

I don't see what the problem is... it's just more EU stuff... even if it did "come from George" my strict interpretation of Star Wars canon is if it's not in the 6 movies, it's not canon... therefore I'd only ever really get uppity over stuff that goes on with the 6 movies.

Clone Wars is Clone Wars, just a fun little side trip for folks who like Saturday morning toons, no biggie.

I have a similar structure. Everything out of the 6 movies is secondary canon, where I can pick which stories belong to my personal canon.

Though I agree with both Lynk and Alexrd (I do something similar to you), doesn't change the fact its a monumentally crap idea. I'm not going to get stressy or anything over it, but still think its a bad idea.

I would be fine with crap retcons if they didn't affect future merchandise. It's entropy at work!
What's next? Malak in a jar in ToR?
Palpatine fighting Cade Skywalker?
Ahsoka as Anakin's illegitimate half-sister?
Where will the line be drawn?

Is it really so hard to come up with something new? It doesn't even have to rock and it may even suck down the road, what would matter to me is that they'd actually have tried.

Meh. I never liked Darth Maul, but if this means he gets to die again, I'm happy with that.

But thankfully not considered as canon by the franchise itself.

yea me too, at least it was infinities time-line, or one shot comics not included in canon. Now Darth Maul survives being cut in half and falling down a mile deep shaft.

Maybe he is a Clone? that would be acceptable (crap, as I dislike cloning force sensitives) but more acceptable than surviving said fate.

I don't think it is that unbelievable considering Luke fell down a similar shaft (possibly longer shaft) and survived:

Maul was chopped in two. You see his upper half bouncing off the side of the shaft as he falls.

****er should be dead. If he isn't, then that's just stupid.

The shaft Luke fell down was more conical and had a sort of protective wind tunnel.
Also, George wants more Maul toys to sell. It will be the jewel of his TCW collection. Unfortunately fans are too weak to reject buying it and exerting their market power. Just like the new Blu-Ray releases.

How is it being weak to buy something you like? Nobody is being obliged to do anything they don't want to.
