I've really been thinking about picking up this bundle, great value. I do have KOTOR I for the Original Xbox and in the Best of PC collection, but the KOTOR/EAW disc has a large scratch in it and the Xbox KOTOR I have hasn't been played since my previous Xbox died while running the game so I don't trust it hehe. I've never played KOTOR II though and have been wanting to for a long time, I couldn't find the Xbox version cheap hehe. But as of June I know have a gaming PC for the first time ever. And I'm hungry to delve into PC gaming!

I'd go for it! Kotor 1 (as you know) is amazing, K2 is just as good but in other aspects, definitely worth the bundle and 2nd/3rd copy of K1 for - plus these are in HD as I recall.

They don't. The games sport the same resolution options as their original releases, as far as I can tell. Even if they don't there are no widescreen resolutions available, or anything larger than 1600x1200.
The EXE's are obviously different in that they have some kind of greater SecuROM protection, preventing the use of the UniWS and Widescreen HUD mods. I haven't tried these copies of the game with anything else. Has anyone else purchased this bundle and had any problems with any other mods, particularly the TSLRCM and K1RIP demo? Does this release agree with most mods in general?

Yes, that would be a shame if most mods don't work.

So... anybody have the bundle and tried installing any mods on it yet?
If you're wondering why I don't just do it myself, it's because I'm taken up by work lately. Don't have the time to invest in RPG's of this scale at the moment.

Evidently, I stand corrected: There is a new step for setting the compatibility for the older copies of KotOR I & II on Windows 8. I will make a video soon to show how to do it, now that my college is offering Windows 8 Pro RTM through their DreamSpark Premium program. Luckily, it's the only difference between installing the games on Windows Vista/7 and Windows 8.

That is one thing I wouldn't mind being retconned..
Edit: Speaking of TOR, Bioware just started doing free character transfers between specific servers in order to populate them. For the record, SWG didn't do this until 2009, six years in. Didn't want to double post, but this definitely shows the game is struggling...

That, combined with the fact that it's been selling for as little as $10 for the last couple of months and is about to go F2P indicates that TOR isn't just struggling; it's a gigantic flop.

Is TOR flopping because it isn't well-conceived, or are there other reasons?

There are several opinions, but, from what I've gathered, the KotOR fans are angry because of the blatant attempt to pigeon-hole them into paying a monthly fee to play an MMO, while the MMO crowd is angry because TOR is basically a single-player RPG with some MMO elements added that closely copy WoW, and, therefore, bring nothing new and original to the table. Basically, it appears that BioWare got caught in the classic trap of trying to please everybody and ended up pleasing nobody.
So, I guess that LA, EA and BW would've been better off just listening to the fans and making KotOR 3. Gotta say I told ya' so.

Right, no one had a problem with KOTOR as a ligitiment RPG and no one had a problem with Galaxies as being an MMO, but there is huge controversy over the gameplay of TOR.

So basically, it plays sort of like Final Fantasy XII, except that it actually aims to be an MMO and has a monthly fee?
I loved FFXII, but I have to say that this is kind of a bad idea. :/
Honestly though, they could still make KotOR III by setting it either shortly after KotOR II or at the lead-up to and/or during the Great Galactic War, prior to the Treaty of Coruscant. I don't see it being hard...
*Sigh.* But then, the Great Galactic War era is already too well-documented at this point to offer any real mystery, isn't it?

I would love a story that begins with the TOR "Return" video!
You would play as Satele Shan and your companions starting out would be:
Jace Malcom
Nico Okarr

Excuse the ignorance but where would I find a direct link for the PAL version and from a distributor that ships to New Zealand.
I can pay Paypal or VISA
Cheers!
p.s. I wonder if an XBox version will arrive one day - I own the xbox versions and PC ones... a bit like most of us here ;-)

You'd think that the Xbox versions would go on Games on Demands considering they are popular games (on PC at least)

I'm pretty sure she (the ship itself) hit an iceberg.
Unless.....*gasp*......she hijacked the cockpit/main room/control room (idk what the main room is called on a ship as big as that) without anyone realizing and steered her into an iceberg!!!!!!

Has anyone confirmed if this version is mod friendly? I would really like to buy it if it were the case.

This, I will buy it anyway since it's Windows 7 friendly, but would be cool if mods worked.

I bought it, and I haven't installed any mods yet, but I will check tonight. To me, it seems like there are quite a few more bugs in the TSL version, but I am not very familiar with TSL, so they may have always been there.

It is very mod-friendly. However, UniWS does not work on the new EXE's provided. If you want to play it in widescreen, you will need a cracked EXE. The bright side about that is that the Windows 7 stability fixes do not seem to be related to the EXE's, as both games are just as stable with cracked EXE's bearing previous version numbers. The only other real difference between the new bundle versions and previous versions is that they may offer a different installation path than the others (for example, the installation directory that KotOR offers is C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, as opposed to the usual SWKotOR folder; however, this is negligible and no issues will arise out of what you choose to name the directory). Just note that if there are any glitches, they are probably vanilla or stem from mod conflicts. They did not tweak any other aspects of these games other than OS stability and newer EXE's--otherwise, they have all the same advantages and drawbacks as the previous versions (i.e. TSL being buggy as all hell without TSLRCM or other mass bugfix mods).
The long and short of it is: yes, it is. Buy and mod away.

So, as for advantages:
Single DVD for each game ✔
Recent OS compatibility ✔
Updated versions with the latest patch ✔
EDIT: All good. I'll buy it asap.

I've heard that all or most of the mods created for the original versions are incompatible, though. Is this true?

IS it possible that the fixes present for the Bundle could be extracted and downloaded for those of us who have not bought it?

Its not so much a thing of money as it is a thing of a hassle. You see,
I currently have both my KotOR games installed with a large amount of mods and for each one I have done some modifications of my own either to make mods compatible or just add a small personal touch. I don't remember all of these things off the bat, so I would have to re-install both games, reinstall all the mods that I want, make the changes that I know right off the bat, then start playing through the game and seeing things that I had changed in the past, exit the game, make the changes and then keep playing until I have made all the changes to my liking.

Oh, right. I wish LucasArts would do the same with some of their older PC games, particularly Jedi Knight and X-Wing/TIE Fighter.

Quick question for those with the bundle, do you have to use XP compatibility mode, or does it work fine without it?

Since it was specifically made compatible with XP, Vista and 7, I don't think that's necessary.

I haven't installed it on Windows Vista or 7, just Windows XP. From the looks of it though both are fully patched versions of the games on DVD. The readme files for both games reference installation requirements for Windows 7 but it wouldn't surprise me if you still have to use the same workarounds on Windows 7 as before.
