I know it's a forbidden thing to port, and I want to be sure I will not be killed if I release a skin I nearly finished...
I made a skin for Canderous in K1 : it's the mandalorian Neo-Crusader armor (common armor for Mandalorians in the game) in Mandalore-style (TSL).
I took parts of the TSL Mandalore armor and pasted/arranged it on the K1 skin.
It's just a reskin of K1 Mandalorians looking like Mandalore from TSL. Only the helmet and shoulders are like K1 in grey (I adapted the helmet a little), and there are no pipes.
I hope I didn't make grammary errors, english isn't my native language.
As far as I know, 'sourcing' textures like that is fine...
It's been done in at least one major mod than I can think of and it was never made an issue...
I wouldn't do it too much though, just in case.

I don't know... I took each piece of the armor and pasted where I could, resizing and redrawing some parts.
Here is a screenshot.

If a moderator could confirm I am not doing a stupid thing, I will continue (the helmet has to be remade).
I see it like an adaptation, Mandalore's armor is based on the classic mandalorian armors (see the kneepads ?), so I chose to copy it directly...
That does look pretty good. It sucks that porting is so forbidden. I am sure there are modders who have done some pretty cool things with porting but haven't released it because its not allowed. Maybe some day.

I hate to hijack another's thread, but this relates to a question I have. I have a new head mod nearly ready for KotOR I, using parts of an existing skin. The base model for the new head exists in both games, but the skin I used to make parts of the new head texture isn't in TSL's files. I was wondering, therefore, if it was legal (and allowed by LucasForums, et al.) to release it for both games or if I could only release it for KotOR I.

Umm....For those want to be surprised by my upcoming mod, don't click below. Otherwise, this should answer the question.

I used the eyes and lips from the original texture, but reskinned the rest. That's why I wondered if I can legally release it to KotOR II also despite the original texture not being in TSL's files.
Ferc, the armor looks excellent, a nice show of commitment right there! I'd do a bit of tweaking on the helmet though, just a little bit of sharpness and definition to the white outline around the visor, but otherwise great job.
I'm more of a '3d fabricator' than a '3d modeller', meaning I prefer to construct things from reference, blueprints or schematics rather than to design stuff of my own.

DSieg did the armor, not me; but, I too think it looks nice. I was merely asking in the same thread if my head was legally able to be released to both KotOR I and II, having only reused the eyes and lips from a head texture found exclusively in KotOR I.
Whoooooops... silly me :xd: Must've been way tired. How embarrassing. But nevertheless, same opinion.

Im sorry to hijack another thread too but, is it legal to use the other variations of the K1 robes for TSL? Because in TSL they only put the Original [Brown] Texture variation. And im wondering if its legal to use some of the robe variations in K1. Thanks

I think it's illegal because since its not in the TSL texture files, you used parts from the KotOR game's textures. I may be wrong but I wouldn't release to stay on the safe side, unless you PM a MODERATOR and they give you the big NO because its not illegal.
EDIT: rearranged words

Well Marius said DSieg's legality issue was fine, so long as he didn't do it too much. Considering what Ferc did and Marius said I think it'd be fine of Ferc released it. However, I'm no authority on the issue so it'd probably best to PM a moderator.

Easiest solution, regardless of everything: use your own site or facebook page to promote the mod, and host the actual file somewhere else, like rapidshare.

You will be hunted down and brutally murdered for your blasphemy! This will not go unpunished! There will be a reckoning, I say, a pointy reckoning upon you for this...this...HERESY!!!
You, sir, will retract and destroy this impiety, or die.
