restrictions on f2p?

Hey all, I'm trying to figure out exactly what the restrictions on f2p will be. I've read up on the list, but its nice and vague. Does anyone have a more difinative list?

so...do we know if I'll be able to continue the story on both sides? If I'll still be able to do heroics, or the other form of dungeons (been so long I've forgotten the name)?

You'll be able to do practically everything except Operations and other endgame stuff and with the rest you can still do it but have a limited number of times per week you can play them.

Check this: http://www.swtor.com/free/features

Ops are enough to make me pay $14.95. I enjoy paying for my humiliation.

I did intend to continue subbing, but if Ops and the like are what your Sub pays for I may save myself the $14.95 lol.

I do dailies to pay for my wardrobe changes the Rest is pure exploration and immersion.

so....access to speeders will be limited? or access to qt? all my toons are on krayt dragon, and last time I checked that sever was all but dead. not really worried about not getting priority login.

Everyone should join The Harbinger and if BioWare lets people transfer their toons between servers finally (without being forced), you should all move yours to The Harbinger

I am transferring away from The Harbinger, the server just isn't big enough for both me and Lynk.

Joking, yeah transfer there. We are having a blast killing stuff.

With 1.5 on the test server...It is becoming clearer what is meant by F2P and the difference between free and sub.

Interesting, so F2P get access to OPS as well, just have to buy them. Kinda weird about the unlocking of toolbars. I see no reason for that. And smugglers are REALLY going to be hurting there.

The two extra quickbars won't be a big deal for f2p folks mostly because for all this time subscribers have only had 4 quickbars since launch and we've survived with only 4 all this time. A few of us do need the extra slots but for the 99% of people who play the game, it won't really make any difference.

I know I've filled out all of my slots, but that's all due to the fact that I run ops fairly regularly.

The toolbars are what I'm most excited about. On my sawbones right now I don't even have quick travel or my stim on it. Not necessary by any means, but it will be convenient to have qt, repair droid and companion dance where I don't have to open the menu to use them.

urp, looks like I got things wrong, on pts now and they've tuned it so that everyone on there is treated as f2p players... ONE quickbar... that means you can only have 12 abilities on there unless you buy more using cartel coins. Wow... just wow. I'd understand 2 but ONE?

yeah to play f2p everyone but a shadow dps is going to have to pay for addition quick bars....No way I would even attempt to heal with that set up and Lynk had me spend all my cartel coins on junk. So I am done testing.

The reasoning going around the PTS boards on the official forum is that the idea seems to be that they want F2P folks to purchase Cartel Coins to buy more accounts for their character/account as they need them.

Basically they think that people will start to play swtor and then suddenly get hooked and bam, they're paying subscribers.

You can move them anywhere or reconfigure them to 3x3 squares. I have my healing one right in the middle of the screen so I can only see my toons head. I use a different UI during dailies and regular play, but for group play when stuff gets deep, I pulling out a group UI. You can also shrink the one you don't use or vanity ones. I plan on one with just speeders and travel options on it and it will be the 3x3 setup and as small as possible.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to my smuggler and if I can even handle 1&1/2(in/out of cover) toolbars. I know I wouldn't be able to heal with only 1 bar. Good heavens... I could get by with 2 or 3, but 1.... ugh...

Anyone who is F2P, former subscribers or new players will feel the affects of the F2P limitations. So if you started off with 4 bars because you used to subscribe, you'll be cut down to one unless you buy more with the Cartel Coins.

Well former Sub will get Cartel Coins for the time they had a subscription, so my suggestion is to first and foremost use those to unlock quick bars.

I certainly will. Just noting that for someone that is starting out, those bars are kinda important for some classes.

Like I wrote earlier, about the only class that will work with one bar is a infiltration shadow. Even then it would be difficult.

No way in hell with a sawbones one bar would work. Hell 4 isn't enough, I still have to go to the menu to use qt and inventory for a stim.

Hurry up, you are going to be surprised to see the imp side of things. We have, will soon have enough imp toons to do Ops. Not just enough, but enough players that actually do ops. Shouldn't have any problems getting HMFP going beyond I think we are a little low on tanks.

Oh yeah, speaking on F2P, BioWare now says you guys get 2 quickbars and that anyone who was previously subbed to swtor gets "preferred player status" which means that they get other perks too outlined in this post: http://www.swtor.com/community/showp...14&postcount=1

The best part? All you need to do to get this status is to buy a single month or subscription to swtor and you're in... and once you have preferred player status, you keep it permanently.

So what do you get as a preferred player?

Quote:
As a Preferred Status Player, you will gain the following benefits compared to Free-to-Play Players:
• The Sprint ability at Level 1
• Access to your Cargo Hold (an 80 item Player Bank)
• Access to Secure Trade (starting at level 10)
• The ability to send Mail, including one (1) attachment
• Increased allowance for chat message frequencies in Public chat channels (such as /general)
• An increased Credits Cap
• Access to the Who List
• Three (3) additional Sale Slots on the Galactic Trade Network (for a total of 5)
• One (1) additional active Crew Skill Slot (for a total of 2)
• Reduced skill point respecialization costs
• Increased Server queue priority

That's my estimate, not something BioWare would lay down in concrete... but I'd say that's the best bet at this stage...

Also, if you've already been a subscribing member before the F2P sets in then you get Preferred Player status anyway.

Yeah looks like they are actually listen to people that on the testing server. Everyone now gets two bars even though that are just F2P. http://www.gamezone.com/products/sta...o-play-version Also doing 5 instead of 3 warzones for F2P players.

I really didn't know how anyone was going to be able to complete even the main story with only 1 bar, glad BW saw the light. Give people a good experience and they may Sub to do other endgame stuff.

I seriously thought that 1 bar was going to be the death of the f2p. I'm glad that they are giving people 2 bars.

if I re-activate my sub now...then cut it off at the end of nov, do i get anything for my trouble?
