What do you think about the animal rights? Are they exagerated?

What do you think about the treatments they get in circuses? Is it a good thing to keep them captive to do tricks for our enjoyment?

I personally think as long as they aren't extremely abused, meh. I like to eat them, that's for sure.

I have to admit, some of what PETA is advocating for is pushing the adsurdity level. I like their enthuasiam and what they are doing for the animals, but sometimes they just can't seem to get their heads out of the hole and realize the entire situation.

While I respect PETA for wanting animals to have rights, I don't see the logic in a law against eating meat. While I would never kill an animal in the fashion they do to make burgers, I'm not going to stop eating the burger. I've gone deer hunting before, but unlike most poeple, I use EVERY BIT of the deer. I don't waste things, especially meat.

I am a supporter of animal rights, but I'm not a radical, and I won't spill paint on a fur coat, it just made it to where the animal died in vain.

dogs in a city, cats in the flat, bird in a cage, fishes behind glass: not ok.

I for one don't like animal cruelty. I think people who are cruel to animals should get kicked in the jimmy junk. unless they are female then they should just cut their face off.

I dont know, I mean, typically pets live a lot longer than their free and wild counterparts, and for the most part they are better taken care of and lead a happier life.

when he said dogs in the city he meant apartments. That's all there is in the city, apartments. houses are in the suburbs.
Dogs should not be confined to small quarters even if they are a small dog. They need to roam around and excercize regularly, also exposing them to different enviroments is good for mental developement. Denying them such, is mental abuse.

Glass fish tanks louden sounds so even a whisper near the fish tank is like a yell to a fish, just barely brushing against it is like fingernails on a chalkboard to a fish. this can cause unneeded stress on the fish, which can create severe lack of immune function.

Always you non echoing material for a fishtank, zoo's use glass but they use specially made "quiet" glass that pretty much deadens all sound except the extremes such as hard banging, yelling, etc.

Birds need lots of space, if they don't get much time to fly, excercise they can become weak and unwilling to do much, once again this adds unneeded stress.

If you plan on getting an animal and don't live in an apartment, make sure you have time in your life to take the animal out (unless it's fish ) let them explore and grow.

sad thing is animal cruelty cases are on the rise yet again, especially in the south and major cities in the north. Until we get stricter consequences on these crimes, I'm not sure it will ever slow down much less stop.

it is HOW they live.

fishes are fed wrong, birds have not enough "freedom" to fly, imagine you are a dog running around in a heatened flat the whole day and ONCE a day you get out for 15 min to do what you normally could do whenever it is necessary. and outside it's cold, lets say from 24°C in the flat to 0°C outside, but you wont get anything like clothes, your "master" is shouting at you just because you behave doggish like sniffing on things, but HE is freezing. to accomplish this, your nose is exactly at the height of the cars exhausts. and then your "master" goes shopping and YOU have to stay outside. he ties you to a tree or whatever and says something like "sit". then he leave for at least 30 minutes.

what a (long) life.

All I've got to say is "Factory Farm!" Visit a slaughter house, or an industrial sized chicken coup. That is the reason why PETA takes itself so seriously. As for my opinion I eat meat occasionally, preferably smoked german sausage

i mean uh...my dog is well taken care of and i think she enjoys the walks i take with her, she was a stray and probably would have died if i didnt take her in

But that's where capitalism kicks in...it's not really in McDonald's best interests to let cows & chickens to go extinct, so they're gonna keep food species populous.

Exactly. Parts of the meat industries are litteraly torturing animals and birds.

Animals and captivity: Depends. If you want to put two tigers in a zoo, it's okay as long as they are comfortable.

That would be just fine if we were lower on the food chain. But it doesn't work out that way.

Personally, I have the utmost respect for animals, especially if they are prepared propperly. Medium rare. No steak sauce needed.

Except when short-sightedness kicks in first. Capitalism doesn't exactly have an excellent track record when it come to preserving endangered species.

Then again, cows are not really endangered.
