Plasma walls

How do you make those huge plasma walls so you can see out into space but not go through them? You know the big force field type things...

I think there is a difference between a force field and a plasma wall. I think of a plasma wall as in Halo, huge globs of a coloured substance moving around, not the small grainy appearence of a forcefield

By the way in one of the texturesets (as I'm not loading Radiant now, I can't remember which) is a neat blue force field, nicer than the bog standard red one
