Double post, sue me.
But I'm poor now. But I did the math and I decided to get it last night because by New Years I predicted that with collected debts, paychecks, and gifts, I would get over $700. So I just took a cash dump of $420 and have plans to still make a gain. Hope my bank doesn't call all pissed off that I just emptied a good chunk of my bank account.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Dual-Core Processor - Retail
$160 + $10 for Thermal Paste and Shipping

PNY XLR8 8800GT 512MB
$240 + $7 3-Day Shipping
Big upgrade from AMD 3800 Single Core and a 7900GSKO 256mb. I plan on selling my CPU to a friend for like $30. And I might sell my 7900GSKO on eBay of something. DX10 here I come... this **** will run Crysis and UT3 no problem... muwahahahaha...

You know, Christmas is almost here. Wouldn't you feel much better about yourself if you bought gifts for other instead of for personal gain?

UT3 actually runs incredibly well on any system that can play most games. They did a good job with it.
It runs great with an ATI X800XL and a Athlon 64 3500 with 1GB of cheap ram
It runs perfect with an ATI X850XT and an Athlon X2 4400, with 1gb of good RAM
and then it just cannot be slowed down with a Q6600 and an 8800GTX
Crysis on the other hand...only ran well for the last option

I sure love my Q6600. I was thinking about getting an 8XXX series card for my new computer, but I found a deal for the 7900GS for about $120 at TD about 4 or 5 months ago and I haven't really regretted my decision. I decided that the only reason I'd want an 8XXX generation card would be for DirectX 10 capabilities, but in all honesty, I don't see a reason to upgrade until they release the 9XXX series. It will probably be much more efficient than what appear to be simply over clocked 7XXX cards with a few goodies attached.

Personally I've only REALLY seen the benefits of a quad core processor in two games..supreme commander and crysis.
I remember I was stuttering like hell on the 81x81km maps in supreme commande r with a dual core processor and now its completely smooth. Huge performance increase with that

Well I wasn't even talking about gaming. Just regular daily computer use is so much nicer. I'm the type of person that has pidgin, firefox, zone alarm, music, word, steam, skype/vent, and any other programs I may be using up all at the same time and I rarely encounter stutters.

My XLR8 8800GT 512mb arrived early yesterday. But I'll need my CPU before my computer starts to purr.
But I'm like super sick, I'm having trouble walking and anything else I do.

Frame rate in Crysis on minimum settings with a 7900GS was only in the 20's.
But with my 8800GT it runs high settings at around 20-30 fps. I plan to adjust though once I get my new CPU, my 3800 was clearly killing my frame rate.

I was commenting more on UT3, though.
Since you said "This **** will run Crysis and UT3 no problem"
But you're right about it having issues with Crysis.

Anyway, got the CPU and after spending 20 minutes trying to apply the right amount of thermal paste I've got it running.... and holy sheeeet, Crysis... mostly high and a few medium settings @ 1280x1024, no AA... Getting 30-40 fps and only dips down a little in heated situations (25-30 fps). I'm so freakin' happy. And to top it off, it got rid of my sound bug problem in Crysis, so I know what I'm getting for Christmas! : D

This made my day so great!
Finally got my free copy from Ubisoft!
Reason I got this game for free? My store outsold the entire district in one single day. My entire staff got free copies of Assassin's Creed!
So far I LOVE this game. I was kind of doubting it at first thinking it would be another Splinter Cell/Prince of Persia clone...but it is soooo different than that. My only problem with this game is finding places to stop, because I have to work in the morning...etc.

How do you like it? I really enjoyed the first one and I'm a huge fan of dnd, but I only played the second one a little bit in the very beginning and I thought it was really boring and slow moving, but shortly after that I read reviews saying that it really picks up after the first hour or so.
What are your thought?

I've never understood the appeal of having a nice mouse. It's probably because I've never tried a gaming mouse or anything, but for years I've been able to beat godlikes on UT 2k4 with my standard logitech optical mouse that comes with most computers.
I guess having the extra buttons would be nice, but I think I'd be pretty confused until I got used to them.

Well, after using balled variants for so long, getting this new mouse was like upgrading to first-class from sitting in the airplane wheel-wells. It's so ridiculously responsive and there's no annoying build-up of yucky-ness that hinders movement with the balled ones.
I figured it was just time for an upgrade. :3

After switching from a Microsoft Intellipoint Optical mouse, to a wireless Logitech laser mouse, I will never go back. Logitech just makes the best electronic accessories period.
The thing with mice, is it is about how much you spend on the PC....online....gaming....homework....whatever. Optical mice were the way to go. Balled mice get that yucky build up, and the only real way to clean it is to roll the ball around on a piece of tape. Like who has the time or patience? Optical WAS better, but if that eye get's dirty, it's something else. This is my first laser mouse, and I will never go back. And don't believe that crap you hear about batteries in the wireless. The mouse shuts itself down when it is not in use, and powers back up as soon as you move it. A set of batteries will last me about 3 or 4 months. (also, I have a couple sets of rechargeable batteries) And I am on my PC pretty much every day of the week.
Speaking of accessories and what not. My immediate family did our Christmas presents earlier this evening on the account of the extended family coming tomorrow. My present from Santa this year was this:
http://www.tddirect.ca/products/1227...S22WJWKBM_XAA/
I finally took the plunge into a flat panel LCD monitor. I have wanted one for a while now. By getting this I gained two things, an extra 2 feet of desk space I forgot I had, plus, High definition resolution. At the moment of this typing. My PC and all of it's components and peripherals are brand new.

Sharp AQUOS 42"
I still won't be getting it for at least a week or two though, can't wait to set it up in my living room in front of my new [faux] leather couches...
*edit
I finally decided to go with 2 IKEA Säter couches, they're much more comfortable...

I also got a couple of Lack tables to go with them.

Only cost me $10, and so far, it's quite fun.
I also bought and Oilers Jersey, but there was a 2 for 1 sale, so I bough two jerseys and paid only for the price of one. And I also bought a polo shirt and a hoodie/pullover with the same sale. Saved $200.

I made my brother pay for it since I payed for the upgrades. We're still in California so I won't be able to play it for a day or so until I get back home to Washington.
Things I got for Xmas: $100 cash, Star Wars Sand-Trooper figure, nice watch, The Simpsons Movie, Indiana Jones Trilogy box set, and a hand full of gift cards... My parents still owe me $120 and I have two pay checks that I haven't collected yet... So eh, not much but I'm still okay.
I also played "Impulse" on GH3 at the BestBuy that we got Crysis at. Holy crap is that song fun and fast. I couldn't really handle the fast chords in some sections but it was a lot of fun and a crowd pleaser. I love showing off on GH/RB at store demos. : D

Very funny.
I just bought a replica. No name, just the jersey.

Rebellion
Lost my copy so I bought a new one on ebay. I didn't realize that it was a French language copy...so now I can brush up on my Français and play computer games at the same time. Very good things!

Rebellion is a damn good game.
Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.

Actually I haven't even started playing it yet - I've been playing through Dark Messiah and System Shock 2 lately so NWN2 has been on the back burner so to speak. I'll send you a PM about it when I do start playing it though! Meanwhile, there's a thread in the SWK section that might help you.
