All those drawings are fantastic, creative and beautiful.
Though I don't agree with quite a few interpritations =). My personal favourite is Eva so far - as a matter of viewing the character, of course.

I love the look of those beatniks. When they're standing next to each other, the different shapes of their faces really stand out. Thanks for the Toto pic, too. Your design of him really reminds me of something, but I can't put my finger on it.

These are fantastic... what about the angelitos?
I'm done putting links in my signature because every time I do it just links to some old crap I've long since stopped updating.

The angelitos have wings. Thats going to be a wierd and not accurate interpretation.

I agree with you Charie. Eva is my favourite illustration together with Chepito and Raoul.
Toto reminds me of Willem Dafoe, VampireNaomi - the actor who made the Goblin on Spiderman, for example.
Slisko sounds black to me, Shuz. But I'm not too sure about it anyway.
Those beatniks, I don't like them very much. I was pretty tired when I did them.
I like Maximino better. I was fresh in the morning.
I can't see why the angelitos should be a problem because of their wings and yes I did Raoul, the french waiter, Terracentral. Try page two of this thread and you could see it.

Those are wicked man!!! I can't get over how good you are at drawing. How do you, like visualize how they looked with skin so well?

That's it! You're absolutely right! Another thing Toto reminded me of is a villain called Pretorius from The Mask cartoon. Anyone know that?
Anyway, I too can't see the angelitos being a problem. They didn't have wings when they were alive, so...

Achrono: I guess they've done them with skin before turning them to skulls. That's it.
The game is full of sterotypes too. Like Maximino as Vito Corleone, or the french waiter like some kind of sissy, or the rest of characters taken from Casablanca.
It all helps.
I remember the bad guy from The Mask, VampireNomi. He shaped the mask related to his personality, taking more square edges than Jim Carrey's character.
It makes me think of some bad guys from the Marvel comics too.
Thanks b0abi Wan!
Me, inspiring? That's not bad. Look for Guadalupe Posada's work for inspiration if you have a broadband connection. That's better.

Absolutely excellent work elbiolin. You've done a great job of capturing the souls of the characters, not to mention the skin. Would you mind if I included these in the eventual museum-style Grim Fandango Network renovations? Most of the fan art is so old that seeking permission isn't really an option, but since you're alive and kicking I'd better be sure to get your courtesy!

That Carla is awesome! I almost feel like I'm seeing her entire character a lot more clearly now, if that makes sense. Great work. And the angelitos are so adorable with those expressions.

Here there is a cover box that I did for a fake ad with skinny characters.
It's still a work in progress but enough to show, I guess:
And this is a screenshot from a sepia version for GF Network:

Almost there.
I'm a little worried about the color schemes so I'm posting some samples.
Wich one do you prefer?
Color:
Yellow sepia:
Orange-red sepia:
Red sepia:
Brown sepia:
I like the orange-red sepia but that's my preference.
I'm thinking on sending the finished Ad to Tim Schafer but I don't know if he would accept it.
Wondering what the text says?
Something as follows - in spanish, obviously:
"Kids! It's time for BIG FANDANGO
Yes, little ones! It's the new game
from the creator of Full Throttle,
Tim Schafer!!!
What's happening
in the spooky
WORLD OF THE LIVING?

I like them all, but my favourites are the first and the last. The first one has a great colourful atmosphere and the last one looks like a real classic. The second one isn't bad either, and makes me think of lemons.
But above all, I like your idea of making up a similar game set in the Land of the Living and then making the ads as if you're marketing it to the dead.

The text is hilarious. ArteLoco indeed.
...Though doesn't really strike as a potential story for kids.

I'd much rather have a skeleton than a game but that might just be me.
I actually like the first one the best. It seems more like how a cheesyish commercial would be toned. The green-toned one gives off a weird air...as if I'm not suppoused to know what is going on. The orange red looks very nice but gives off this very mellow tone which conflicts with the skeleton's expression. At the same time....he is a skeleton so it sort of works. The red-speia has a little more "power" behind it but the skeleton's suit is too bright and makes that the main focus. The brown sepia is nice but makes me think of old times and not advertisements which try to be colorful and attention-grabbing.
My two cents

Wauw... I think it's a couple of years, since I was here last. So hello, again :P
Anyway, I love those drawings. They're truely amazing! By the way, I like the first one in color. I think it's looking like an advertisement for a cartoon-movie. I think that the colors, maybe are the the reason for that
What'd **** !?!?

Pretty cool, that.
I think if you reworked it to look more detailed and made the eyes a bit more Manny-like in personality (he seems a bit wide-eyed, almost seems naive) it'd be a great piece.

I was messing around one day and drew this guy. After I drew him I thought he looked like Charlie, so i colored it with him in mind.
