Meat and you
ET needs some company..
Who here is a vegetarian? (And why;dont like meator idea of us eating animals)
Or who here loves meat.
I love meat, tastes ace. Especially steak, great and strong. Sure I care a bit about animals, but I don't mind eating them except a dog and cat.

Despite the name I use in games, I'm a vegetarian, have been for several years. I don't miss meat at all, the idea of eating animals makes me feel sick to be honest, but I don't mind if others want to eat it. I only hope you don't all die of mad cow disease or chicken flu or some other strange meat eating disease

Humans are omnivores, I think diversity in diet is the best bet. As an anthropology major, I can tell you that cultures that limit their diets (by choice or not) typically experience problems associated with it.
Having said that, let me point out that I just watched the DVD of Super Size Me last night and I'm never eating McDonalds again!
This guy was very physically fit and healthy and conducted an experiment for a documentary in which he ate nothing but McDonalds three times a day. One of the rules he set for himself was that if McDonalds didn't sell it, he couldn't eat it for 30 days. He would only "super size" if he was asked by the cashier. He gained a ton of weight and his doctor freaked out because he was damaging his liver!
Watch this one! Its good. The guy did the experiment in response to something that McDonalds said after they were sued by a couple of people.... actually, I think it was the judge. He said if it could be demonstrated that a diet of McDonalds contributed to health problems, their suit might have merrit.
I haven't given up hamburgers... but I'll only get them from small chains that hand-make them now. One McDonalds burger can have the meat of over 1000 distinctly separate animals from several different countries.
Don't even get me McStarted on the Chicken McNuggets.

I like meat, but I've been staying away from the ground beef for health reasons (dang US beef guys not testing for mad cow... stupid!). I don't go for fast food anymore because it makes me sick (guess the iron stomach I had in high school gave out finally).
Though I do like to hop on over to Chic-Fil-a (or whoever you spell it) now and then for a grilled chicken sandwich and lemonade. ; )
Man, if I were still in college I'd probably turn fat before long!

I like a good bit of dog. Served with a good marinade and rare, it makes one of the most delicious meals around. I savour the moment, as the delicious but soft chewy meat is unleashed upon by my teeth.
Replace all instances of "dog" in the above statement with "steak".

I thought that over a bit after it was quoted in the movie (Bonus material on the DVD, interview with the author of Fast Food Nation). If the production methods are such that they deal with a high volume of meat to produce mass quantities of frozen burgers, then they likely employ some method of rolling the ground meat into endless ropes of beef, chopping them into small cylinders, then flattening them out.
Remember, McDonalds is the largest consumer of beef in the world (think how many restaraunts they have worldwide). They also advertised at one point: "one taste, worldwide" (or was this another fastfood chain?). You can't get one taste without reducing the variables that create differences. Some beef tastes sweeter, more bitter, chewier, fattier, etc.
I think considering production and desire to control taste variables, 1000 is a modest expectation.

The movie is about how McDonalds is bad for you (in a nutshell)
It seems relevant enough in a discussion about meat since McDonalds serves meat.....

Meat??? So that's what that weird stuff they serve is supposed to be!
Honestly the reasons I went to fast food places in the past (when I was a kid) was to get the toy in the happy meal and to play on the playground. I can get better food at the supermarket, even if it is a bit "slower." My mom made us kids "egg mcmuffins" and they totally blew away the ones at McD's, so that started me down the path. ; )
Though I will admit, they had great french fries at Mickey D's.

I haven't eaten any real Spam since a camping trip a long time ago. It's actually not that bad, just a little salty.
Don't knock it, it's got it's own key!
Turkey Spam isn't half bad though. Spam, spam, spam...it's the meat in a can!!!!
Obviously the real thing is better though. ; )

LOL. In SuperSize Me, they did an experiment where they took a bunch of food from McDonalds and a hamburger and fries from "homemade" source, put them all in individual glass jars and watched over days as they decomposed.
Everything eventually rotted and decomposed except for the McDonalds fries. After well over a month, they still looked like the day they bought them. No decomposition.
