Read my example in the spoiler and you'll see why I'm annoyed.

spoiler:
Example: The very first opponent I had with my new saber was Visas... I was ineffective against her with my hard won and so called wonderful and all-powerful saber... I then equipped my hated vibrosword and lo and behold I actually hit and damaged her and was able to complete the segment, to make matters worse I didn't have any of the extra vibroblade feats either, I selected only the feats (Saber Finesse, Saber Proficiency, etc.) for the saber in preperation for the moment I aquired it too...

And yes CaptainSkye, I'm making a Modding list... and checking it twice!

Though maybe not all of my list... some of it is growing on me!

Visas was so incredibly easy when I got my LS, all of my opponents were, it was truly awesome.

Thumbs down Frankly, it's everything I dreaded it would be

First order of business, that little **** of an Obsidian Dev (C. Avalone) did not inspire me with a damn bit of confidence when I booted up this game, but he certainly was honest in letting me know what to expect of the game's tone and storytelling style, so I'll have to thank him for that.

It's a total rush job. Onced you get past "OMG, it's KOTOR2," you start noticing "little" things like the game crashing every couple hours. (And yes, it's a legit copy), or Revan's gender changing twice in the same paragraph of a conversation.

More breadth in the romance options - everyone is availible in theory, but there's zilch for depth. 4-5 convos and some cutscene bickering, then the whole thing just ends abruptly. (bro-in-law playing LSF) Hell, the Juhani romance in K1 was clearer.

All the attention apparantly went into the combat system. Joy and rapture. Lightsaber forms, "kewl" new powers, and the descriptions don't appear to be all that accurate. (again, indicitave of a rush job)

Converting most of your party to Jedi? Well, I still dunno what to make of that. Sure, I have the Carth and Mission Jedi mods on my heavily-modified K1 (more because RedHawke is a mod-making genius), but part of the appeal in K1 was that you had mixed nuts aboard the boat, and even one of the Jedi hardly considered himself such...

Top that off with the sheer cynicism in the game's writing. LS options are often discouraged, ridiculed, or scorned by your party members. The game also has a habit of treaking LS actions as something akin to a futile, useless sick joke (at least playing up through Nar Shadda). Bro in law and I got REALLY tired fast with Kraia(sp?)'s "kindness is cruelty" lectures. Made me nostalgic for Bastila's Dark Side ranting, frankly. In 1, I caught myself refraining from DS actions because I didn't want to do those kind of things in front of my party because I wanted to be the kind of person they thought I was. Here, I tend to want to tell most of the crew to shut up and help or take a walk out the airlock.

So, I read ahead in the strategy guide, and find others who've hit the ending, hoping the plot gets any better.

It doesn't.

Sorry Mamba, you are talking about the early convo about Revan you have with Atton, but that is not what Allronix was referring to.

It happens later on in dialogues all through the game, the dialogues refer to Revan being the wrong gender from the one we selected. Sometimes even as Allronix stated... twice in the same dialogue.

A worthy sequel.

The music. Amazing score. Carries as much emotion, if not more than K1's. I was very impressed.

The story; very good, very bleak, enjoyed it a lot. Except the end kind of sneaks up on you....

A worthy addition.

Despite what some people say about the game it is the best game I have ever played and in my opinion much better than Kotor even though it has a few glitches but those will most likely be fixed for the PC.

Gah, I succumbed and bought it for Xbox, even though I said I wasn't going to. I'll probably end up buying it for PC anyway though, because mods are just too b*chin' not too!

WOW-That's freaking awesome; I finished TSL in 25 hours; and by reading your reviews, I see now that I missed some quests; (though I didn't miss a single character) but beating KOTOR IN 25 HOURS!!!!!!!??????? Thats incredible; after six times passing it, the shortests amount of time it took me to finish it, was 43 hours!!!

Sure about you talked to someone?

I was impressed by the depth and amount of dialogue, and how all of the dialogue is recorded, instead of just text, like in some rpg's of that scale. I also like the slow pace. makes it fun.

I loved the 1st game, my cosin rented it once so I played it for a bit. Then, using his x-box, rented it my self. Beat it with in a week. This didn't stop me, I later re-rented it 2 more times. Beat the game about 5 times. I loved it so much that I wanted to get an X-box just for it. Though I got some money, and Halo 2, and Fable just came out. So I thought...Hey why not, I rented Fable, beat it. So I bought Halo 2. Well soon, Kotor 2 came out, I had to go out and buy that, a day after x-mis. I love the game beat it once already. Still really enjoy the game.

I played many games before, yes I am a loser with no life. But I love how these games are. If you really enjoy them. Should look into Neverwinter Nights. Its D&D ( Dungeons and Dragons ) E3. This game was made after the E3 rules. With skills and feats. (( Yes I use to play D&D the dice game. )) Anyway I enjoyed it.

This game is impressive. Yes there are some flaws and it seems rushed at times. There are some dialogues that the developers forgot to close out after the appropriate actions were completed. Some of the Journal entries left without the ability to complete them.

Rest assured the game is still very worth it if you like KOTOR I. A lot of these things can simply be overlooked for the sheer joy of playing another KOTOR game.

I dont have the option to get the PC version since I don't have a decent computer to play such a game so I only have the XBox version and a lot of the problems people state are not a huge problem.

The game for me... from the very start to the very last lightsaber I struck down took a whopping 62 hours and 24 minutes... because I like to swagger about and walk a lot just to watch the robe flutter so's I could immerse myself into the universe... also I completed a lot of the side tasks.

I guess it's about time that I put my impressions...or after-thoughts...

KoTOR 2 has it's pros and cons, but really, it's just a big setup to KoTOR 3.

The bugs, framerate problems, and graphics really brought it down. You could tell that there were incomplete things that were never finished...

But other than that, I LOVE the new battle animations and the new Robes.

Based on about 16 hours of gameplay, here are my impressions.

The voiceacting is, in my opinion of course, quite lacking. The only one so far to pull off a five star performance is Kreia. The worst in this section would probably have to be Dao-Dur. Everytime he speaks, I have to turn up the volume, and it just makes me want to slaughter him. Dark side hit anyone? :P

The graphics are of course a bit dated, but with the AA and AF cranked up, it actually isn't too bad. The forcepowers sure look good, and I haven't had any slowdowns in framerate what so ever.

The story so far is engaging and interesting, but we all know that.

Animation is decent. The fighting animations are top notch, but some of the more common animations, like running and especially walking are not quite on the same level. While walking outside on the Peragus station in the spacesuit, I felt like a metal Teletubby.

So far, so good. However, all these good things do not fully make up for the games shortcomings. The game is absolutely riddled with bugs. There's quests you can't complete, dialogues being skipped, and pathfinding going haywire. I'll give you some examples:

I killed a certain person, yet 15 minutes later, that same person came back from the dead to advance the plot.

I got a quest to convince a guy to come out of a room, but I closed the conversation prematurely. When I talked to him again, the conversation options to complete the quest were gone.

I was in a shuttehangar, and there was an enemy in front of me, about 10 meters. I ordered my PC to attack, and he started running in the exact opposite direction. Now that's pisspoor pathfinding for you.

Also it seems that when I talk to T3, much of his dialogue is skipped.

I'm very, VERY disappointed with this game having no proper console functionality. Being able to mess around with the game is one of the reasons I also bought this for PC, so imagine my disappointment when I installed the game only to find there was no console. I sincerely hope they add console functionality in patch, and soon, or this game will collect more dust on my shelves than it has to.

Overall, this game has left me with the impression that it is a diamond in the rough.

I'd give it 7,5/10

From what I hear, there is a console, although it's invisible.

It's not quite a console if you can't see it. Believe me, I've tried to get it to work, but to no avail.

Mostly it's T3's dialogue that skips, but I've experienced it with some of the refugees on Nar Shaddaa too, mainly Hussef.

It's less convenient that it's invisible but a console it is none the less. They seem to be getting along fine enough with it in Holowan. Maybe spelunk over there and see how they're doing it to try and find a workaround for your problems using it.

Just got this game, and I can say that I'm impressed.

Three hours into the game and I still have not gotten past Peragus.

Obsidian has made some good improvements over the original.
Such as: filters for items, the construction bench (very fun!), the lab thingy (fun), alternate weapon selection, datapads have names and they also open on retrieval, full sized robes, green interface , and finally SKILLS MEAN SOMETHING THIS TIME!

Overall 10/10.

Graphics: A little disappointed with the graphics. I have all the settings maxed (with an ATI Radeaon 9800 Pro/256). KotOR looked awesome, but TSL looks like the anti-aliasing is hosed. Cut scenes flip-flop between game quality and "comic book" quality. All in all, I'm a little disappointed but not terribly, because I'm not in it for the graphics.

Gameplay: I like a lot of the things that OE did with the game. Hate the new swoop racing. Love the new pazaak. Influence is cool. NPC are much more important this time around. I like how they worked in a lot of "transportation" opportunities
spoiler:
like the Mandalorian guide in the encampment on Dxun

Story: Great story! Epic...so far.

Bugs: A lot of dialog skipping. Cutscenes rarely play cleanly. A lot of general weirdness in the last part of Telos. Game starts in windowed mode. Distracting, but not infuriatingly so...

Vandar?

spoiler:
Dead, Dave. You coax this out of Vrook.

Juhani, Jolee?

spoiler:
Likely dead, Dave

The game hype calls your character the LAST known Jedi.

spoiler:
Bastila is in hiding if you say Revan was LSM. No trace of her on any other path. LSF Revan option provides a 3-hankey tear-jerker bit with Carth.

And under the "sucks to be the admiral" department:

spoiler:
Cut from game (but in the dlg files) was an encounter with Dustil on Korriban. He had gone quite irretriveably mad and was cowering in the tombs.

Trust me, guys. If you REALLY want to be sadistic, say "Revan was LSF" and ask a modder to replace the above sequence. It'll most certainly rank up there with the "Carth hater" mod.

Just beat the PC version and my -final- impression? Poor. Most people who are giving it the highest ratings are those who've only played it for a few hours, which I have to admit, are good. But everything just becomes bland afterwards, especially the characters. While the odd relationship between the Exile and Keria is rather well developed, the rest of the party members didn't seem nearly as well done. The voice-acting was also somewhat hazy. Everyone bitched about how they hated Carth's whining, or Mission's teenager-ness, but you -remember- them. I can't remember for the life of me what Atton sounds like, and I turned off the game about ten minutes ago. Everyone just seems to have that monotone way about them.

Also, the rather haphazard way for which they are put forward. When I was playing LS in the original, I cared whether or not Bastilla was saved or not. Or whether I could corrupt her as DS. In TSL, I didn't know, or give a damn about most of my characters. Visas and Keria aside.

By the way, running on a Radeon 9600xt with a 2.something Ghz AMD processor, I suffered -terrible- lag issues, not to mention forced to roll back my drivers just so the game would run in the first place. And with the graphics so low that I wasn't stuttering everywhere, I could not really get a feel for anything eyecandy wise.

My final opinion? I wish a lot of the functions in TSL were implimented into the storyline and dialogue of the original. Being able to influence my characters would be awesome. I want an evil Carth dammit and have the much improved workbench.

I have played for two days now (maybe 14-15 hours all in all). I'm a slow player, so I haven't goten that far, however I have finished Dantoinee as well as Telos and Peruga (or whatever it was called).

My first impression was that it was A LOT like kotor, which is not a bad thing. That is what I wanted when I bought it. However the new features soon appeaseb my need for something new as well. I actually use blasters now, since I can change it when the enemies close (which almost all do) without having to go into the equipment-menu and look through my looooooooong list of weapons to locate the one I want to use.
That you can, in an emergency, create your own computerspikes and parts was also nice, plus that once you got into a computer you genereally could use it, without having to hack it wqith spikes for EVERY action.

The story is very good. I have no problem with any of the characters, or their voices (which people seem to dislike... well, I don't). Sometimes there are a bit too long conversations, but I can live with that. Better than no conversation at all...

The glitches bug the hell out of me, but generally they can be amended by turning the game off and the on again. The story-glitches I haven't encountered yet.

My computer is pretty good, but when there is smoke or gas around it lags so bad it sometimes becomes unplayable (imagine my anguish in the gasfilled room in the dormatory!).
Also there are some problem in the big citys. But I can live with that.

Love the new robes btw. I vehemently hated the robes (except revans robe) in kotor. they looked silly. Now I feel more jedi-ish.

First impressions?

Just got the game yesterday, and there are a few points I'd like to make:

1. I hate the new inventory system; I got so completely lost when trying to equip my first weapon. The system in KOTOR1 was practically idiot proof; in the new game, there's like 3 boxes for each hand...a little annoying, but once I figure it out, I'll probably like it more.

2. Thank God the fighting animations changed!

3. I like the dependence on the other team members, especially in the very beginning. It's a little disconcerting at first, but I feel like the team members are team members, not just hangers on that I can call on when I need a door opened or whatever.

4. Kreia and Atton keep getting on my nerves, and I'm only 2 hrs. into the game!! Argghh!! Kreia's
spoiler:
constant talking in my head is making me batty!!!!!

5. I like the idea of using your skills in different facets of the game...
spoiler:
like when you are trying to fix the Pergarus computer just after you get Atton. There's a whole new dialogue option if you are putting points into repair that is a nice touch.

More later
