I think obsidian is doing it as they are working on a "unannounced project" as stated in their job openings :-) Also Obsidian stated that they would love to work on Kotor 3 when LA agrees (a long time back they said that). Also LA said they see Kotor as a Franchise. All signs point to it :-)

I've played both games on Xbox. I prefer the first one as it's longer and the story doesn't have as many plot holes in it. I just bought KotOR 1 for PC so I could see what the space station is like. Sadly, the game keeps crashing when I take the elevator down to the undercity on Taris.

My mom reserved it at an EB Games today, and we're going to pick it up tonight. We looked 3 places yesterday with no luck... I'm getting it because my birthday is next week. Yay.

Being a devout kotor player (meaning i've betten both every possible way twice and still play it), i was glad it was a solid game. But i found there was a number of glitches and unanswered questions in the story. The hk-50s were a big one. Turns out you were supposed to destroy there factory with hk-47 but since the game was rushed onto shelves, obision had to cut sections out of it.

My favorite RPG ever was and still is KOTOR. However, I've recently grown more fond of TSL. While there are still issues with it's apparant incompleteness I am now beginning to think that it is the better of the two games and perhaps I may end up playing it even more than the first KOTOR.
"Blasphemy!" you say. No, not blasphemy, just a recognition of the fact that Obsidian has talent and knew what they were doing when trying to create a sequel to a multiple GOTY RPG ever. A daunting task indeed.
Obsidian instituted the often times frustrating Influence factor and the equally confusing random item drop feature. Along with these two new components to the KOTOR world we also encountered a complex upgrade creation process.
The Sith Lords gaming experience relied more on your choices and type of character than its predecessor. Once you've reached a certain point in your Force alignment you are visited by Visas. Chances are that if you are neutral for most of the game you will not get her until very late. I've not played it grey so I could not factually confirm that. Also your party changes according to your gender and alignment. Even your choice of Revan's gender and alignment alters the game.
Yes there are a few things I would like to have implemented. For instance if I find Bindo's Band in the beginning of the game I really don't think there should be another one found later. I had at one point four Onasi Blasters. Sreiously. Did Carth mass produce his weapon? The random drop feature needs tweaking.
Also some of the sidequests got completed even before they were added to my Journal. It was a little frustrating to have a Journal Update and find that the update was added to the completed sidequests section. Most memorable is the Fuel Sabotage Sidequest while aboard the Citadel Station during the Sith invasion.
It would have been nice to have the missing content put in. The droid planet would have been fun but it really isn't needed to further the plot. Leaving it out is understandable. The last game took me over 36 hours recorded but there were plenty of times I reloaded. Having a whole other planet and potential sidequest would be simply enormous. There's nothing wrong with a bigger game, I just think having it in would complicate the entire story. The game isn't about the HK units hunting you down or G0T0 commisioning them. It's about the lies and deception surrounding your Exile.
Overall I really like this game. I just hope KOTOR 3 is planned for developement and a serious effort at it will be afforded.

Well, I have to say that this has to be one of the most immersive and incredible games I've ever played. Before starting this, I'd just finished playing Oblivion. I had enjoyed that, especially the environment graphics, but I felt too led around by the nose, like I didn't have a chance to figure anything out for myself, and combat was terribly clumsy, IMO.
This was like a breath of fresh air. The story very involving, combat nice and clean, and more about building your character than having a quick clicking finger. I don't like just chasing and killing things. I like conversing, and I like having your behaviors have consequences. Everything in this game means something.
I've never played KOTOR I, so that's next

Hmpf, when my brother and me bozhgt this game an installed it, the first thing we recognized is that
It doesn't run!!!
Although it needs the same System prerequisites (if this ist not the correct translation of "Systemvoraussetzungen", blame my dictionary) as the first part, which runs without any Problems.
Can anyone help us? Meybe? Otherwhise we really (especially him, because it is his Computer) go NUTS...

Just completed the game! what I think about it . . .
Hey all, just completed knights of the old republic: The Sith Lords, I have to say it was and still is a awesome game, I had never played any of the knights games before and didnt know what to expect, i loved how the combat system worked, and the rounds played out so quickly it was great for screenshots, but yea, you were all kinda right at the end game, there were loads of rooms that u cud go in but couldent, must of bin cut or something, Darth Sion was a wuss, but kreia, took me ages to beat that b***h, and fighting her sabers was a chore too, i died once when against the sabers, now that iv done it, im gonna go back and do the dark side of the game, plus great mods too, espacally the combat arena (great job stoffe).
Pros: Good gameplay, I liked it how you could learn about the party members history and stuff. Good story.
Cons: The start of the game, on peragus I HATED, it was so boring, and i got a depressing feeling that i have to play it thru AGAIN. Also the End of the game didnt really feel 'finished' and I felt a bit confused and had that annoying hunch feeling what would happen next.
BTW completed the game on 23 hours 48 mins, with a level 27 Jedi master.
Great game!
EDIT: feedback would be nice

Do you have the power yet? You'll get it shortly after you've finished the first six planets and are on the dark side. Once you have it, just go up to an opponent and click the option use Force crush.

I think the other planet was really needed. It wouldn't have made the game a lot bigger, because they ended up moving most of the quests from it onto the other planets. I found a few of the other planets were just TOO long.. they really started to drag in places. Having an extra planet and more evenly distributing the content would have really helped the pacing.
Plus it seems like it was really needed to flesh out the bao dur, goto, hk47 and mass shadow plots.
Also, I seemed to spend half the game running arounf with only one or two characters.. then just as i'd got some more characters to talk to/play with the game ended. I don't think i got to use goto or hk47 at all. Or mira that much.
I've just finished the game for the first time, so obviously i currently hate the damn thing. I'm sure that once my annoyance at it being completely unfinished wears off I'll remember the fact that a lot of the experience was pretty enjoyable. Still, i can't see myself bothering to replay it all again just to try out another alignment. Especially not all those repetetive Treyus Academy fights. zzz.
Overall i'd give it an 11 out of 10 for ambition.. but only a 5 out of ten for execution.
I'd still be interested in a sequel.. but I couldn't face it for a few months yet.. and i hope that if they do make one they give the interface, the controls, the party system and the combat a major makeover.

So far I like the way KOTOR2 is playing - I just wish I could 'talk' to my crewmates more. I'm getting tired of asking Atton if he could teach me to play pazzak. Oddly enough, it's Kreia's instigations that is letting me talk to the others. I like the worlds, etc, and how it explains a few things. I like the first game more, personally.
Does anyone know how to get the cheats working, though? I've done everything I'm supposed to, but it's just not working.

The cheat console in TSL is invisible. You can get it to work the same way you do for KotOR I.

Well, with both games, they're enabled by adding 'EnableCheats=1' under Game Options in swkotor(2).ini, and pressing ` in the game.

The cheat to become invincible should be enabled just by typing 'invulnerability' into the console and pressing enter.

But...that's what I've been trying to do. I'll give it one more try.

I have found the cheat console is case-sensitive. You shouldn't use capital latters or caps lock.

There were things I liked and things I didnt. Lets start wit things I like:
It was darker
HK had more hilarious comments
It was longer
You were a wound in the Force, whateva that means
The plot was very interesting
Kreia talking in cryptic
We got to visit Korriban and Dxun, best planets, I love mandalorians
More force powers, feats etc.
Things I hate:
The ending.What the hell?
No proper romances
The cut content, no HK factory, cut out planet etc.
The glitch that ruined the entire experiance, on Nar Shadaa, When those guys take ova your ship, you do that and you get a message from the Exchange bout meeting you, this neva happened, thus making my game unwillable.
The Genoharadan. On Nar Shadaa they were supposed to hunt you, but it got cut.
And more
Overall, the cons outweighed the pros, ultimately making me get rid of the game.

I don't know a lot about Xbox modding for KotOR, but isn't it impossible to have new modules on it?
If so, the restoration project wouldn't completely work. It uses some new ones.

Well, first off hello to everyone here.
I finally finished the game with a DS Sith Lord. It was fun, fun.
But like everyone else, I do not understand the ending.
There is a part where the Exile asks Kreia about Raven and then in the conversation she mentions a female, she refers to someone as she did not understand or something like so. Sorry, I don't remember the exact words, and I was wondering who she meant by that.
I am currrently playing now with an LS sentinel/weapon master just so I can see the LS ending. My favorite character of all is Kreia, she is just amazing, but she left me with more questions then anything else.

i love it. i absolutely love it. it took suprisingly long however, to get a lightsaber, but in the end you will have like 5 spare lightsabers ;D
i love the combat system , the powers, everything. i also love the ablitlity to change the color of your lightsaber, especially into viridian or silver.

Really, I think Obsidian is downright awesome, and any issues in TSL (of which there are a lot) come down to Lucasarts pushing Obsidian for a holiday release. Really, Lucasarts is a downright ****ty company in my opinion, but unfortunately they hold the rights to Star Wars. TSL's story, though incomplete, is better than KOTOR 1's. My problem with KOTOR 1 is that it's a generic, cliche big-evil-guy-building-a-big-superweapon-zomg. TSL's is more subtle, makes more sense, and is generally much cooler. I love how Kreia brings in the idea that there is more than Light and Dark.
The main issues with TSL are
1) Bugs, which can be fixed by various mods
2) Difficulty...e.g. the game is too easy to do. Regardless, Beancounter's difficuty mod fixes this.
3) Incompleteness, which should mostly be fixed by Team Gizka.
Unfortunately that so many issues must be fixed by third parties, but once again, I blame Lucasarts.

Hell, I agree. Mostly. I think KOTOR's story is great, and just the fact that it is a complete game, with almost no bugs, and correct difficulty puts it above TSL. Only very slightly IMO, both are mega awesome games; any and all bad things in them are LucasArts' fault.
