Newbiemodder's Korriban Expansion - TSL

Since everyone and their brother seems to be doing a wip these days, I decided to throw my hat into the ring. I've been working on this mod for several months now and have decided to share a little with rest of you. Basically, it just allows us to explore Korriban a little more, fight a few more baddies, complete a couple of sidequests, etc. Hopefully, it will enhance re-playing of tsl.

Here are some images:

http://img96.imageshack.us/i/701kor.jpg/

You won't be able to access the new area directly from the EH. You still will have to go to the old Academy to get access.

For the floor of the valley, I'm reskinning 902Mal.
http://img709.imageshack.us/i/740kor.jpg/
http://img251.imageshack.us/i/740korstat.jpg/

The Trayus Acad from malachor will be a Secret Sith Academy run by a new Dark Lord. For the interior, I reskinned the Queen's castle.

http://img10.imageshack.us/i/745kor1.jpg/

We'll meet a couple of new characters along the way...here are some.

http://img32.imageshack.us/i/740korbel.jpg/

And maybe an old one too.

Here's a couple of other random shots as well.

http://img251.imageshack.us/i/747kor.jpg/
http://img718.imageshack.us/i/745korsent.jpg/

This is a new area/room I created inspired by the work of Quanon and Disbeliever. I've never done any modeling before..the pillars, and buildings I took from dxun. Special thanks to Disbeliever and Magnusll for help getting it to work!!

http://img10.imageshack.us/i/748kor.jpg/

No time frame yet for completion, I keep tweeking the story and quests, add new things, etc. Thanks guys. Try not to be too brutal.

Is this new Academy completely replacing the old Academy? If so, where will the Sion cutscenes occur? If not, how do you access it?

Considering trying out (or returning to) SWTOR? You may as well go through my link and help get me some SWTOR referral points!

No no. Completely separate from the old academy. You still will have go to ruined academy and fight and flee from Sion. The idea is a secret adacamy that has existed for furthering the expoloration of the dark side located down in the valley of the lords.

This is really good. I just have one question though. Will there be voice overs?

Excellent work! I love it when someone completely off the modding radar comes in with a brilliant project and has made significant progress.

Best of luck in finishing the project. If the quests and dialog are even half as good as I'm predicting, this will have a spot in my override.

As of 3/14/10, TSL is restored. The Sith Lords Restored Content Modification by Stoney and Zbyl has been finished and can be downloaded here.

newbiemodder's been here for awhile.

He was pulling a "True Sith" by waiting for the perfect time to strike! Or... well, to post a WIP

I probably won't download.
Why?
Because it may look really nice, but nobody can ever match the feel of the levels created by Bioware and Obsidian, and it makes me feel strange playing it.
Also, I highly doubt anyone here has studio grade equipment, so mics crackle, and voice actors are never the best.

Hey that's cool. Everyone has their favorite types of mods. Some love new robes, or new sabers. I like new areas and characters. I'm not promising the perfect most spectacular mod ever created. It will have flaws. It's just a labor of love and hope it adds to re-plays.

Good for you! I think, with that, we should fold up Holowan and TUCE and simply stop working... our modding projects will never be up to TR's standards

I think the work is fantastic, NM! When I saw your WIP thread I looked with morbid curiosity, and to my happy surprise saw considerable skill and effort.

Keep at it, despite the village idiots...

And do you realize that he's re-using Obsidian-made modules for this project?

and some people do actually have high-quality mics. Not all sound have background noise and a tinny sound to it.

Anyways newbiemodder, I just wanted to comment on your WIP cuz I realized I didn't earlier. Ahem..

The reskinned Korriban Modules look pretty sweet, I gotta say! It has a Jedi Knight: DF2 feel to it sort of and I gotta say, I'm liking!

My only input would of course, be the existence of NPCs to talk to: Korriban at this point is presumably uninhabited, so I don't see why there would be anyone alive on the planet, y'know? But it is your mod, so you make the calls

I'm not sure if I have something new here or not..I couldn't find any previous solutions in the threads so here it is:

http://img17.imageshack.us/i/jettd.jpg/

I was able to get the child to hold a lightsaber. Let me know if it has been done before and if I just wasted a morning. Anyway, if I can I plan on making this young padawan a puppet for one of our characters. For those of you who know your history and recognize the name the boy is a great ancestor to the great Biggs Darklighter friend of Luke Skywalker who was shot down by Vader over the Death Star.

You'll be waiting for awhile then. The new M4-78EP has a long ways to go, though on the bright side, the HK Factory is likely soon to be wrapped up.

@ Newbiemodder

Hells yeah! It's a Darklighter! No offense, but I can't imagine it would be terribly difficult to get a child model to hold a saber. But, I don't know..

How are the animations working? Does it have power attack, flurry, etc?

And to which character do you plan on making him a puppet to?

This looks really good. Great use of Malachor, IMO. It would feel weird playing in the same Korriban modules, so I think that was a very good idea. I look forward to seeing this progress

It looks like it's coming along very nicely, can't wait to see more. BTW, if you ever need a tester or a dialogue writer, just tell me. Also, I can take screenshots in 1680x1050 (on max settings of course rofl) and some nice lag free HD videos. (Unless, of course, you can already do both xD)

Impressive, very impressive.

Taken by suprise, wow, some cool reskins in there. At first sight I didn't recognize the Onderon Palace. A ton of Kudos to you sir Newbiemodder.

And did I see glimpse of a self modelled area? In the game?

I think the model has only the basic animations. I don't know. I'm not too familiar with how those work. But, he can fight and defend himself which is ok for a puppet.

That looks really good. Are you planning another planet to create Kotor2? That would be more appropriate for these nice pictures or modules.

Just a little update. Things are proceeding. I have all my modules laid out with placeables and npc's etc. Now the tedious task of working on dialogs and making things work. Lot of trial and error with the scripts.

Not going to share too much at this time..do not want to ruin any surprises, but I have decided to incorporate a tomb that I had created for another mod of mine..the secrets of dagobah(never released)...you will find it somewhere on Korriban. Here are some interior shots...a reskin of Telos living quarters.

Hey,

The Mod looks great!

I'm loving the new pics

I have a question on how did you darken the module?
From the pics it seems that you darken Telo station's original module.
What did you alter to get his more darker feel/mood.

Keep up the great work!!

Logan

@logan23 ---I just darkened the lightmaps a touch. I used gimp and toned down the brightness of each lightmap. Saved it under its new name and then hex-edited my room .mdl model with the new lightmap name.

I saw the Jawa,...Have you done anything with the Vandar model/yoda. I sure people would love to see and download that.

Keep up the great work.
