Game Suggestions
As can be seen on the site, we have some games decided upon, but what other games do you think would be popular in our little community. Games where we could gather up enough people to have a decent internal tournament and have a decent sized team to play against other clans?
Post your suggestions here!

I think a cool game that would catch on to all of us Mojo fans would be like a Star Wars Galaxies but for Monkey island. Players could choose if they want to either be a merchant or a pirate and other stuff, set in the in the MI world! Battles could be done between two pirate ships on the sea and insult contests (insult swordfighting and other stuff)
"So what IS that stuff they pack canned hams with?"

I think he means games that already exist . However, I bet there would be enough people interested to start a Galaxies guild of MI fans.

No one here likes ET (enemy territory)? or it requires too much bandwitdth for the server something? It's a great teamplay game. I'm not trying to push this into someones face, but it would be nice if the game was open for discussion.

I just checked, Half-Life wants Pentuim1 166MHz. That's pretty low requirements for a 3D game. Unreal Tournament (GOTY)wants Pentium2 233MHz. ET wants Pentium3 600MHz.
Edit: Unreal Tournament 2003 wants AMD 700 MHz, 128MB RAM. 3GB Harddrive space. Unreal Tournament 2004 wants AMD 1000MHz, 128MB RAM. 5.5GB Harddrive space.

We tried Wolf ET. It was rubbish. Too complicated to dip in and out of, so nobody was too keen on playing it on a regular basis.
Plus, it didn't work on someone's computer and they complained a lot.
Not many people seem to have bothered getting UT2004, which is a shame because it's great (particularly the Onslaught mode). And I'm sure there are some pretty good mods as well...

ET isn't a frag game, where more frags give your more game value. UT games is more like that I think. ET is very much about teamplay value. The sum of the teams effort and skills to complete the maps task, while still haveing eyes for regular fighting. For example you would have to repair a tank, and escort it to a certain place, blow bankdoors, escape with gold in another vehicle to a new location, while still shooting in concentrated battle, plus tankbarriers needed to be blown up with dynamite.
All people have gun, granades, automatik gun, but when you spawn you have choosed to be a sertain class. Engineer, medic, soldier with rocketlancher, soldier with more ammo, soldier with machinegun, undercover sniper, etc. The different classes makes together a good input of variation and good/fun/interesting gameplay.
"Too complicated to dip in and out of" Do you mean when joining the server without a set date for tournament, so not many people coming to the server and playing all together at one time, then I understand. ET is not fun if, the people haven't read the map info in "Limbo", where is says, that "you need to repair tank to steal gold". It's the map objectives. The other team is then defending the different objectives. It is just like CTF but more varied and more fun. 2 vs 2 can still be good game, though 8 vs 8 would be more fun. There are LOADS of great quality custom maps.
The fact that there are objectives, medics and engineers in the game makes me love it. Be medic and revice your teamates etc.
About the game didn't work for some people. Did they miss to install the 1.02 patch, or didn't have the maps, or their firewall blocked the game to download maps.
I'm not trying to pressing this game into anyones face. If we would try again with ET, it would be nice.

Most of us enjoy games which emphasise teamwork. I love Tribes 2 and Day of Defeat, which are both highly orientated towards teamwork.
However, as far as the MIGC is concerned, they are too complicated to "dip in and out of", as Huz said. Straight deathmatching where your objective is clear and untainted (even Worms is plain old deathmatching, except in a turn-based fashion).
We also generally only play with about 3 or 4 of us present at a time, which makes games like that which rely on more people being around just not work.
I have no doubts that ET could be good (although graphically it looks very manky, and like a poorer version of various other teamplay games/mods out there), but for our purposes it won't work.

Something class-based like TFC or TF is about as complicated as things should get.
The fundemental objective is still "kill other team" so it's still good ol' deathmatch. Even in something like CTF, where the flag is more important than the frag, there is still plenty of killing about.

I suggest the Counter-Strike Source beta (while it's still around) - it's a limited time beta which you get on Steam by buying Counter Strike: Condition Zero. Counter Strike Source is normal CS on the Half Life 2 engine, and it's amazing.
Here's a review: http://www.gotfrag.com/cs/news/2483/ - it was written more than a week ago, so some bugs it mentions have been fixed in updates.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I think I'll just wait until it becomes available properly. I don't really feel like paying for a game I don't want just to participate in the beta. :-/

Isn't Counter-Strike source just Counter-Strike, albeit with shinier graphics and a lot less maps? I would certainly be down for a Counter-Strike get-together though. Bombing an innocent bunch of boxes is where it's at.
Also PT is correct, UT CTF is in fact a win. If anyone knows some excellent custom maps that rival the definitive flag-capturing experience that is "FACE", then please pour those guts of knowledge onto this thread.
The only thing that ruins FACE flag-capping is the bloody redeemer. :~

Yeah, the beta doesn't have many maps yet (unless you get the ones that have been made illegally with the stolen HL2 tools). It's Counter Strike but with updated graphics, physics, models etc., which make it a lot of fun . When the final version is out (shouldn't be long now), it will definetly be an improvement over normal CS, as there will be custom maps coming out straight away, making it the perfect upgrade.
But normal Counter-Stike would also be great to play .

I can't wait for HL2 to come out. I reckon it could be great for the MIGC.
As well as Counter-Strike Source, Valve have also confirmed that the long-lost Team Fortress 2 is still in heavy development for Source - although they didn't say whether or not it was a standalone product.
They've also hinted strongly at a Team Fortress Classic Source too (ie: a remake of the current TFC, rather than the whole new game that TF2 is), which would be brilliance.
Add to this the fact that HL2 will come bundled with a totally updated HLDM, that all the HL1 mod makers won't have too much difficulty porting their mods to HL2, and that there's already dozens of awesome looking mods for it in development, I can see HL2 having the same massive impact on the gaming scene that HL1 had.
Oh, and just in case anyone missed it it, Half-Life 2 can now be downloaded from Steam in preparation for the very close release. It cannot be played yet, but if you're planning to purchase it through Steam it's probably better to get it now since the servers will be too busy to download it around the launch.

I agree. I think HL2 and some of it's many mods would be great games for the clan to play. I'm glad you like it too

MIGC MMORP
How about we all download some free MMORPG like Tibia or something, there are a lot of those out there, and they're pretty decent. Then we can arrange times for us all to meet there and go on...well you know, adventures
The MIGC as a party. I think that would be really cool. We could look out for eachother, maybe if someone is already playing that specific game he could help the other ones out. The point is we just walk around killing stuff and get experience, and it's not boring because we don't just wander alone, we're a team!
Anyhew, it's just something I thought about, it's up to the rest of you guys if you wanna do it. That way we could also be a clan vs someone else, rather than having in-clan tournaments. Not that I don't enjoy those

Hmmmm. That sounds like a good idea, if you can find a good free MMORPG.
That's a big "if", because most free MMORPGs are crap. There's a huge difference between the free ones and subscription based ones. Personally, I'm looking forward to World of Warcraft, but I don't quite see how MIGC could "do" the whole MMORPG scene.
Mostly, we want fun and we want it now, and few MMORPGs seem to offer that, much less free ones.
It sure sounds like fun, but I think it'll have to happen outside of MIGC.

ISketch
Hi...
So I wondered if we could have a little ISketch tournament?
I would prefer a weekday to the weekend as the tournament day. And I am also willing to organize it. So.. who's with me..
oh and is there a way how I can contact other MIGC members apart from this forum?

well, this is more or less the OFFICIAL forum, if you want to contact any and all MIGC folk. You can always E-mail me if there's anything specifically MIGC you want to discuss.
But you want an iSketch tournament?
You've got it! What are your ideas on it?
What rules and things, what topic?
I'm thinking "Swedish porn"

Totally count me in.
Decide on a date and time, and anything else that people need to know, and I'll stick it on the MIGC page.
I should write up a "how to isketch!" tutorial, too.

The current games of choice are Worms Armageddon (played almost nightly), Counter-Strike Source (played a few times a week, mainly by me ¬), and.. well, that's it.
Once our computers start catching up, I'm sure more will move onto HL2DM and the like.
