TIE Fighter question

I just found my old, old TIE Fighter disks, and decided to give the game another shot. Installation went fine, and I was quickly creating my first pilot in 3 years.

However, I can't quite seem to figure out how to access the player info screen, where I can see my record, flight data, and rewards/medals. I was unable to locate my manual.

Any help is appreicated.

Just press the ESC key to do that.

I tried that, but it just exits the game into DOS. Do you happen to know why?
