Not really, there will always be more subjects and stuff Matt can use, so I say DON'T END THE SIMPSONS!

I say do another season after this simpsons movie, then end it. Most of the newer episodes, although funny at times, don't really do it for me. Overall they are less funny and deal with storylines that seem to be ever increasingly off-the-wall, when compared to to the older episodes. Don't get me wrong, I love the Simpsons. Its just a show thats been on for so long, just doesn't have the same quality that it once had.

What the hell happened to the poll? :?
Anyway, I think the show is now exploiting its own name and milking the franchise for all it's worth, so it should be cancelled and remembered as the great show it once was.

I think the movie maybe a way of putting an end to the series, I mean it has had a good 20 years or so of running episodes and hasn't needed a film to promote the cartoon. The movie is either being made because the Simpsons team 'can' make the film in terms of money or want to end the series. Of course it could go on after the movie but from the standard of recent episodes it won't be as funny as it was.

I don't think I've ever seen the newer seasons. They've just been re-running the old ones here.

I'd say the best seasons were 6-9, after that it started getting a bit old.

"Since 2001 we'd been working to get a script that would be worthy of people actually paying to see the Simpsons" - Matt Groening
They've been planning a movie for a good while, I think. Personally, it would sadden me if there weren't any new episodes. Sort of a fear of change kinda thing, comfort factor.

Yeah, I had the same fear when Seinfeld was ended. It felt weird when I realised that no more episodes were ever going to be made.

OMG0x423a35c7 - A film by Dreamworks, made in 3D, about insects. And the lead is voiced by some sort of comedian. Man, this is ground-breaking stuff. I hope it's not too obscure and unfamiliar for the general public.

I say don't cancel it...I personally find it to be a hilarious show. A lot of people don't appreciate it as much because one of the "wow" factors of these animated cartoons is the "how could they do that on TV?" Constantly, I get the feeling of disbelief from people who watch Family Guy, American Dad, and even South Park. All of these shows push the boundaries of what is acceptable on TV, and that's what makes them funny. They are all good shows, but the Simpsons is still some good fun. In conclusion, keep the simpsons and any other animated show on FOX for now until you can fill it with a show that's just as good...which won't happen for a while...

Oh, by the way, unless contracts change, there will be at least one more season of The Simpsons after the movie comes out. I remember reading it on the news that it was renewed for a couple more (this was last year), and Family Guy got at least one more season in this contract as well. So yea, I doubt the Simpsons will be gone after the movie...I can't wait for it!

It has a different kind of mood. More adult, more sarcastic, more british. I love it and right now I could say I find it more entertaining than The Simpsons.
My favourite quote, from Family Guy: The Movie
Scientist: [ Scientist unfreezes Walt Disney's body] Welcome Back,Mr. Disney.
Walt Disney: Are the Jews gone yet?
Scientist: Uhh,no...
Walt Disney: Put me back in!

The Simpsons being gone would be one more thing from our childhood leaving us...
It sucks! When you think about it, when we're all gonna be 70 no one is even going to remember The Simpsons or Biker Rats from Mars or Carebears or whatever... It's sad.

I'm sure The Simpsons is culturally significant to be known for decades to come. Probably less people would be intimately familiar with it, but vague details about it should still be common knowledge for Americans.

They are actually Mice, Biker Mice from Mars. Its kinda kinda like Teenage Mutant Hero/Ninja Turtles, except instead of Ninja Turtles, you have Biker Mice, and instead of it being set in New York, its set in Chicago.

Yea, Family Guy is one of those shows that if it's "on," it's "on" (meaning good), but if it's "off," it's lame and just no fun.

I don't think you can compare Family Guy and The Simpsons.
The Simpsons is like the comedy cartoon for the whole family, which includes jokes that both 'children' and adults can enjoy.
Family Guy on the other hand makes more references to popular culture which adults can understand and laugh at.
I like both though.

I don't think the Simpsons is exactly a "family" show. I mean, sure people of all ages could find something funny in it, but it's still definitely geared towards teens and adults.

I don't know why a lot of people don't like American Dad. I've always said that it's a "Thinking Man's" comedy though, so that may be why. I personally love it because I love the political humor that's in there. I mean, even the intro makes me laugh (meaning the song).

A lot of clamor has been going up in the Simpsons community since season 9 to cancel it.
And I have to agree.
But jeez, I've mulled over this topic for far too long, and if you really want to get into the nuances of the long, on-going debate, pop on over to NoHomers.net
Also, Season 2 was the best. *Waves Season 2 flag*
