Andros took the pilot's seat and muttered, "Seat of the pants time." He streaked the ship behind an Avalonian fleet vessel and shot for the planet's surface. A few enemy fighters were on their tail and firing. Andros muttered, "Drawing em in closer."
The fighters were almost on their tail with a clear shot. With a deft move he throttled back and hit the brakes. The fighters shot past them, too fast. The started to burn up in the atmosphere. Andros merely nodded and continued on to the planet's surface. "Another happy landing you think?" he asked.

Jun-la deflected a blow before delivering a rib cracking kick to the Rashikian general. She replied, "What business is it of yours of what's in the Archives. Our people know you are a disgrace. You and your kind."

"Your people's time is passing. You will fall before us. And with Avalon destroyed we will conquer the galaxy." The General told her. "Even if it happens, you won't live to see it. You can't escape your fate either." Hethra said to the general. The General then Force pushed Hethra into the Tower, and leapt in after him. He then locked the door behind him as he entered. "The Avalonian can't help you now, Master Iazoki." He said.

Jun-la replied, "You have been trying to 'reclaim' Avalon for millenia. You will never succeed."
She wasn't quick enough when the Rashikian general shoved Master Hethra into the tower and locked the door. She looked at the door and then sat and closed her eyes. Reaching out as the masters had taught her, she reached out with her spirit and touched Hethra, giving just enough to hang on. Opening her eyes, she leap to her feet and began to scale the tower.

Andros made a hard landing but the ship was still flyable. He checked to make sure everyone was ok and said, "Komad, follow me." He popped the hatch.

"See? The data is gone, and this planet is worthless to you." Hethra told the General. "A planet is a planet. We will take it anyway." The General replied, driving Hethra further and further up the tower.
Komad looked as one of the militia threw a thermal detonator into one of the Rashikian landing craft and watched as the ship blew apart. "Continue the assault, we've broken their lines!" He shouted.

General Heros saw his older brother looking older than ever approaching with another half Twi'lek half human sentient. He surmised that it was Komad and beckoned Alka to follow. He approached his brother and gave a warrior's handshake, "Brother it is good to see you well. We have broken their lines andcontinuing the assualt. As for your old friend, there is no word."
"What of my sister, Uncle?" Tulre asked.
"There is no word," General Heros repeated. Right now we need a force to drive back the lines to their ships.
"We will all go," Andros replied, making the decision for everyone. He then turned to Komad, "Is that alright?"

Jun-la had no idea how high she climbed. All she cared about was getting to Hethra and the general. A blaster shot hit the tower walls sending debris flying. Clinging to her holds, she waited until the dust cleared and continued her way up. She had no idea that ahe had gotten ahead of Hethra and the general when she found the hole and jumped in. She stood there and reached out to find Hethra, her blade drawn.

"Yes." Komad replied, getting a very uneasy feeling about Hethra.
Hethra and the General were now at the top of the tower, where he was still being driven back by the General. He stood at the edge of the tower, and the General grabbed him by the neck, forcing him to deactivate his lightsaber and drop it on the floor. "Death is upon you, Master Iazoki." The General told him. "You too." Hethra managed to say before grabbing his lightsaber with the Force and activating it, thus mortally wounding the General. Unfortunately, he was unable to regain his balance, and fell from the tower.
Kalla felt Hethra's fall in the Force and immediately alerted her father. "We have to go the Archive Tower, it's Hethra!" She told him. "Right." Komad replied. "We'll meet you at the rendezvous point." He then told Starlighter.

She felt Hethra fall. Sheathing her blade, she took a running leap and jumped out the hole she had just climbed to catch up with Hethra. She said, "Nice of you to drop in." Her fingers were fiddling at her belt for the grappling hook.

Andros nodded and with a burst of the Force sprinted towards the tower, his son and brother in pursuit. They saw Jun-la falling with Hethra and Andros quickly sat on the ground and concentrated. He hoped to slow their rate of descent.

Hethra knew Jun-la wouldn't have time to grapple to safety, so he positioned himself to break her fall. The fall shattered his spine, and combined with his now crushed throat, he was dying. Komad and Kalla arrived at the scene. "Bring...Almalexia...here." Hethra told Komad, struggling to breathe. "Right." Komad replied, activating his communicator. "Almalexia, it's Komad. You need to come to the Archive Tower immediately." He said into it.

Almalexia felt it before Komad contacted her. Her eyes welled with tears and she made her way to the Tower.

Andros had slowed the descent but Hethra was a stubborn beast and roke the fall of his daughter. Always risking your neck for others he thought as he slowly made his way to where they landed.

Jun-la landed hard on Hethra but not without some injury to herself. She knew that Hethra was dying and she tried hard to bite back the tears. She said, "You old kath hound. Always thinking of others before yourself. Why couldn't you let me help you?"

"It was either me or you." Hethra replied. He looked as Almalexia arrived. "It's the end, but the moment has been prepared for." He told her, and with that, his body faded away into nothingness as he became one with the Force. Kalla was clearly distressed by this, and hugged her father tightly for comfort. Komad began to wonder how his sister would take the news of her former Master's death.

Jun-la whispered as he faded, "It didn't have to be."
Almalexia had kneeled beside her husband, tears in her eyes, and watched him fade. She knew he was at peace when he became one with the Force but she didn't want to be alone. Brushing her tears aside she composed herself for the sake of the boys who would want to know and for herself and stood up and said, "Let us finish this."
Andros nodded and deftly handed her a blade he produced from nowhere.
Jun-la looked back up at the tower. The general was dead but the one who started it all was still alive. She numbly followed the others to head back and drive back the reamaining Rashikian forces.

Alka didn't have to be told. It hit her like a knife through the heart. She knew that Master Hethra was dead. She had never quite believed Andros when he said that some bonds form so tightly that when one dies, it creates a void. Now she understood how he felt when he mentioned how and when his wife died. She also felt another hurt, an anguish that felt deafening. It wasn't her own but someone elses. She thought it to be Lady Almalexia's.
General Heros noticed her and asked, "Everything all right?"
Alka cleared her mind and replied a firm no. It hurt but there would be time to grieve later.

"With the General defeated, the Rashikians' morale will have dropped significantly, which should give us the advantage. What do we have left that can take out their command ship?" Komad asked.

"That won't be a problem," General Philos' voice came through the comm, "They hightailed it out of here before we could even board the ship."
"There is no point in pursuing," Andros replied, "There are bigger fish to fry." He gazed at his daughter who had stood, a little wobbly from the fall, looking at where Hethra disappeared with a strange glint in her eyes. He was worried but there were no dark threads emanating from her. He reached out but she pushed him out. He didn't persist for he knew that she would react worse like when she was ten. He looked at the rest of the group, and Alka, who joined them, and said, "We should regroup and figure out our next course of action."

"I agree. The sooner the Senate knows of what has transpired here, the better. It will shorten the debate greatly, and most likely will sway the Senators into voting for rebuilding the Republic's army. When the Rashikians attack again, they will do so with a much larger force. Planetary Militia and a few Jedi won't be enough next time." Komad added. "We should inform the Chief of State as soon as we return to Coruscant."

"You forget that the Avalonians offered their services," Alka replied. She was rather impressed at the organizational skill of the Avalonians. Besides they would know best how to fight the Rashikians. It is said that the RAshikians were once Avalonians before their banishment.
Before a fight could get out hand, Andros said gently, "Perhaps General Philos would give us all a ride back to Coruscant. The Senate would wish to speak to him as well. Would you agree?"

"Very well, we should leave immediately." Komad replied.
On the ship, Komad opened a channel with Kol Skywalker back on Coruscant, informing him of the attack on Tython and of Hethra's death. "I'm sorry to hear about Master Iazoki, but I will need to speak with your sister about this. There is an old tradition we must adhere to." Skywalker replied. "Very well." Komad then went over to his sister. "Master Skywalker wishes to speak with you." He told her.

Alka acknowledged her brother, "Very well." She then looked at Jun-la who was staring out at the hyperspace streaks.
Andros looked at his daughter while speaking to his brothers. He was worried about her. She was always one who was the more steady of the twins. It was puzzling for he sensed no anger, just...nothing. He said nothing but listened to his brothers as the ship entered the skies above Coruscant. When the ship landed, he left to head to his quarters. He had thought of something and needed to go find it. He passed Alkea who was talking to Master Skywalker.

"Hethra's death must have been very hard for you, as you were his apprentice, but there is something I must ask of you. Traditionally, when a Grand Master, current or otherwise, dies, their body, or if they become one with the Force as they die, their robes are burned at a funeral pyre by one of their past apprentices, and I would like you to give Hethra that honour." Master Skywalker told Alka.

Alkea nodded and said, "I will master. There is something else," and she gave a motion in Jun-la's direction who was talking to her twin about something or other in their language. "I think it is something you should look at."

"Very well, let's see it." Master Skywalker replied.
As Komad stepped out of the shuttle, he turned towards his wife. "We should inform the Chief of State and the Senate as soon as we can." He told her. "We cannot carelessly risk another planet like Tython."

"I agree. Let us go now," Greea replied. She gave a slight nod to Andros who nodded back and headed towards the bay where the speeders where kept.

"Master Skywalker, Jun-la was there when Msater Hethra passed. She hasn't mentioned it but she has a faraway look and something is off," Alka voiced her concern.

"From what your brother told me about Hethra's death, this wouldn't surprise me. Not only was she there when he died, but she also tried and failed to save his life. There's nothing I can do." Master Skywalker told her.
The speeder carrying Komad, Greea and Andros arrived at the Executive Office Building, and immediately an eerie feeling came over Komad, as he not been inside the building since the assassination of Chief of State Tabula Rasa sixteen years ago. As the three of them entered the Chief of State's office, they noticed the heavy Cathar influence in how it was decorated. "Chief of State Hame, we must speak with you immediately." Komad told the Chief of State. "Ah, Master Jedi, what might this be about?" The Chief of State asked. "Perhaps you were unaware, but while you and the Senate were discussing this crisis in a committee, the planet of Tython was attacked by the people who were attacking our scout ships near the Unknown Regions, and we barely managed to hold them off. Jedi Master Hethra Iazoki, former Grand Master and close friend of my family, died in the attack." Komad told her. "I am sorry to hear that, but do not assume I am as much a fool as Tabula Rasa. If I had known, I would have done what I could." Hame replied. "Rest assured, I will allow you to speak to the Senate personally at the next session of Congress."

"But Master Skywalker," Alka replied, "What if it were possible that nothing emanates from her through the Force because of it. Master Starlighter wouldn't say anything but I know he must sense it, the emptiness." Alka then paused to give the master respect and wait to see what he said.

Andros listened quietly to the murmurings of Heme while his thoughts dwelt on his daughter. Miklos, before he died long ago, revealed that his mother would retreat into that world of nothingness when overwhelming grief came upon her. He wondered if it were possible. The Force can run strongly in families. He was aware enough to hear Heme announce that they could speak at the next session of Congress. He asked, "When will that be Chief of State?"

"Even so, this is something she must deal with on her own. I can do nothing." Master Skywalker restated.
"In a few days time." Hame replied. "The Rashikians could attack another planet in that time!" Komad replied. "Not likely. Given what I've been told about the attack on Tython, it will be some time before they can stage another large-scale assault." Hame responded.

"Only if they have someone to lead them. In the past they have been used as pawns and therefore have scattered when the leadership is compromised," Andros replied quietly. "They are very much like the Sith, fighting each other for the right to lead. Perhaps they are among the original Sith?"

"I understand you can do nothing master," Alka replied, "but surely there is something I can do?" She liked Jun-la and the free will and independent spirit she showed. It would be tragedy to let it die.

"That makes sense, the General appeared to be very high ranking, and thus difficult to replace." Komad commented.
"All I can think of is to help her cope. Because of the nature of the problem, how will be up to you." Skywalker explained.

Alka nodded. She then asked, "Would it be possible that she stand with me for Master Hethra?"

"I am not sure. The old loremaster Petronious kneew such things but he died when...when my mother was young." Andros withdrew to think. He wasn't sure who was the current loremaster now of his mother's tribe but perhaps his sister would know.

"Very well." Master Skywalker replied.
"It's highly unlikely that the Rashikians are related in any way to the Sith. The Sith were a combination of the natives of Korriban and the original Jedi Exiles." Komad replied.

"The Rashikians were thrown out long before the Mandalorian wars. Remember it is said that Avalon is where the Force began. Perhaps they are. Like all those with power, those that gain are afraid to lose. A split within the Rashikian divisions I am suggesting," Andros offered helpfully. "Tython was the first planet the first explorers came to."

"That would make sense, given how familiar they were with the landscape. Which gives me worries about what their next target might be, when they manage to reorganise themselves.
"Master, I know how Aunt Alka was close to Master Hethra when she was younger, so I'm wondering how she could have acted so indifferently when he died." Kalla asked Reyvan during a routine training exercise.

"Your aunt well, it's a complicated matter," Reyvan began, "The first person she loved killed himself when your parents first met. She exiled herself and was tricked by Tyrannus into thinking that he was a friendly." It was complicated. He knew she cared for her old master but she sought solace in a withdrawal from emotion.

"Perhaps it would be best if we brought the fight to them," Andros suggested. "Amshrey is home to a unique race of our people and the natives were quite helpful in the time of Revan so I have heard. We mobilize but let them come to us. Tyrannus could never resist a challenge."

At the mention of Amshrey, images flashed in Komad's mind of his torture at the hands of Darth Mortis. Out of all of the girlfriends and boyfriends he had before meeting Greea, none had bore more ill will towards him than she did. "I trust you know that if you are planning a trap at Amshrey, I cannot join you. That is where Mortis rebuilt the Death Star, and it holds too many painful memories for me." He told Andros.
"You seem unusually quiet, what is your opinion on this, Master Bodonawieedo Kaltas?" Chief of State Hame then asked Greea.

Greea had been listening to the conversation in silence. Andros had a point and usually did. She could also understand her husband's fear of Amshrey though it was by no fault of the natives there. By her reckoning, the Shreyites and the people put up a hell of a fight.
Andros asked in a nonaccusatory tone, "What are you afraid of?"
Greea added quietly, "We should mobilize. It is wrong to forsake an ally because of one instance."

"I hold no objection to what you are planning, I simply do not wish to return to the Amshrey system myself. I agree that the Shreyites could be powerful allies against the Rashikians." Komad retorted.
"The first person she loved? That's who my cousin is named after, right?" Kalla asked, attempting to change the subject slightly. Her aunt's three-year exile was not something openly discussed, much like her father's time held in captivity by the Sith.

((Cousin?))

"The wish not to return is equatable with fear," Greea replied. It was going to agitate Komad but the sooner he faced the past, the sooner the shadow passes over.
Andros saw that things could get out of hand. He interjected, "Our people on Amshrey are powerful. Their blood holds the blood of a race thought long gone. The Shreyites know the forests like they do the cries of their young. Both are a great help."

(That's who I was referring to.
PS: Since I stated a few posts back that Komad is bisexual, I should let you know that it's been common knowledge since before the events of the first RP, but as such, isn't really important)
"You're right, but I believe it would be best to wait until after we speak to the Senate before any further action is taken." Komad replied. "After that is taken care of, I will go with you to Amshrey."

((thanks for the heads up))

"Yes your cousin was named for her first love. He killed himself after being possess. It was the beginning of the deception," Reyvan replied. "You did ask the question young Padawan."

Jun-la was approached by Alka. She looked at Alka with a look of sympathsizing sadness. She was sad herself but Hethra was Alka's master. Such a bond should be respected. She listened as Alka explained about Hethra and the ritual. She replied gently, "The bond between master and apprentice is sacred on our world. We give it respect. I will be there as you wish but you must do it yourself."
Alka looked at Jun-la. She was at a strange kind of peace but she could not sense the Force flowing from her at all. She had only heard of stories of long ago where one cut themselves off. This was unheard of. Maybe when they were finished with putting Master Hethra to rest would she get to the bottom of the matter. She sought Master Skywalker out and said, "We are ready."

Andros replied, "Agreed." He then stopped. He sensed something far beyond his reach physically but it was there nevertheless. He knew what it was and he was loathe to acknowledge it.

Tyrannus opened his eyes with a grin. He had touched Starlighter's mind with great effort. He wanted him to know that he was still around. He will have his vengeance for his family. Starlighter's mother may have thwarted them the longest but he will have the blood repaid as was sworn in the days of Kirabaros.

(Picture this scene set to the music played during Qui-Gon's funeral in Episode I)
"This way, then." Kol replied, leading her into the Great Hall.
Attending the funeral were several Senators, Jedi, and former soldiers all united in their grief for such a great man. Among them was the former Chief of State Kaité Naberrie Enu, the elderly Ben Skywalker, Alkéa's father Alkonium Kaltas, as well as Komad and his family, her husband Reyvan and her son Scooter, and Almalexia and Hethra's two sons. Komad listened attentively for his sister to give her eulogy before setting Hethra's robes aflame.

Alka looked at Jun-la one last time to see if she would like to say something but Jun-la held a glint in her eye that clearly said she would not trespass. She did agree to stand by Alka and did so.
Alka looked at the people in attendance and noted Andros hiding in the background and checked a sigh that threatened to form. Why he had to hide was something she would never understand but perhaps one day he might explain. Keeping her eyes fixed on Almalexia and her sons, she said, "The Force surrounds us, penetrates us and binds the galaxy together. Master Hethra understood that connection as he made connections with family, friends, and pupils.
"Master Hethra was not only a master to me but a loved one and such a bond is what he created in all our hearts. He was a father, a friend, a master but more importantly a guardian of peace and justice. A Jedi."
Jun-la listened to every word. It was true that Hethra did what he wanted and he would have said that it was the will of the Force. She knew she had no reason to blame herself for his death. As Alka set his robes on fire, the pain gradually melted away. She watched the flames consume the robes and thought she saw her father hiding behind everyone else and remembered back to when Princess Almalexia and Master Hethra met to try to bring her father back to the Republic. Things will be set right.

"Rest easy, old friend." Alkonium said, standing over the pyre. Of the three Jedi whose contribution had led to the end of the Great Droid War, he was now the only one still alive. "Your sacrifice will not be in vain." Komad said, looking back at the attack on Tython. He did not want the galaxy to return to war after sixteen years, but if it was inevitable, he would fight to the end.
