Why don't you just defrag the computer...? IF you have to reformat...unless you put something bad on there, it shouldn't do it again...I mean, the only reason it's "less stable" than other OS's is simply because all of the crap we put on it...and we don't put as much crap on Linux or OSX because not as many things work on there...

Well, once SP3 comes out, I doubt you'll be having that problem anymore...otherwise, I'm not expert, so I can't really help you out too much I guess...I can only recommend what I know works for most people, and that's reformatting...I'm almost sure it would work out...

Well, you could always just wait for SP3 then...it'll most likely fix all your problems...either way, I doubt anyone should blame (which I know they will) Microsoft for it...

What distro do you use Shmargin?
Also Vista is worse than XP. I'll grant you that it's more stable but I'd rather have an OS that doesn't sap most of my system's resources and crashes once a year (maybe) than one that is designed to use up all of my system resources.
Also .NET has to be the easiest development platform I've ever used followed by Qt.
