Star Wars: Rise of the Sith

Hello everyone,

First, I would like to apologize for having left the mod so abruptly last time. Due to an urgent, and most unfortunate family issue, I had to leave it and take care of some things. However, I am back now and have some of my old team with me as well. Due to expanded boundaries we have now as far as module editing, I have decided to change things around a bit story-wise. Here is the basic plot of the mod:

It has been centuries since the fall of the Empire and the New Republic is thriving in the galaxy. However, a new threat is looming as a large group of mercenaries called the Talons of Dehros threaten the peace by making claims of injustices done by the New Republic. This group is quickly becoming their own faction, and, with their claims and promises, has gained much favor from the outlying planets in the galaxy.

Some of the members of the Jedi Council believe they have a means to fight back when archaeologists unearth a temple built by an ancient civilization called the Malkazi. This civilization grew vastly in technology and once dominated much of the galaxy. Their weapons became so powerful however, that their civilization was destroyed by them.

The temple contains two cryogenically frozen pods containing what appear to be the last remaining members of the civilization. Their purpose, and the purpose of the temple itself, was to pass on the legacy of the Malkazi to others, long after they had gone. Included in this legacy, is the military technology and power that made the Malkazinians so great.

A dilemma forms when some of the council members feel that freeing the Malkazinians without knowing enough about them could be dangerous. This creates a rift in the Jedi Council, and sets forth events that will dramatically change the fate of the Republic and the people of the galaxy.

If you would like to know more about the mod and see screenshots/composed music/our forums, please visit us at www.infinite-empire.com.

-Concept Art (weapons/landscapes/graphic designs/panoramas/vehicles)
-3D Modelling (weapons/and other non-organic objects)

HOORAY MOD REVIVAL!

I'm guessing that this mod will be released when it's done...?

I saw your site on the "Where can I find mods?" thread, and I was wondering if the Reign of The Sith mod and the Rise of The Sith mods are one and the same.

Also, speaking of that thread, it might be a good idea to update the list to accomodate the new domain name...

No, Reign of the Sith was my first storyline mod and was an extension of the Dark Side ending for Kotor 1. Rise of the Sith features an entirely new storyline. As far as the website I will contact one of the moderators and see if they can change that link.

Hey, since this is during the New Republic era, will there be stormtroopers? I love fighting stormies. If there would be, you should ask prime if you could use his excellent mod.

Are you one of those poor Macintosh gamers that are in the possession of Empire at War, yet because of the scarcity of Mac players out there you have nobody to play against? If you are, PM me if you want to set up a game.

It was our original plan to do that yes, but considering that it is centuries after the Storm Troopers were created, we figured the design would have changed significantly. Also the empire/remnant are not present at this time.

Hey there everyone. Thanks again for all the support, I am glad to see so much anticipation . Here is an early render of the Jedi Council Chambers on Yavin IV. The Sky is temporary, until our Concept Artist, stylus, finishes the new Yavin backdrop. Once I fix the floor texture, and add a bit more detail, it should come out quite nicely.

More info when it comes,

Hey everyone,

Thanks again for all the support, glad to see so many people are anticipating the mod . I have a few renders for you in the area of lightsabers. Right now, I just finished up the model for one of Amara's lightsabers, her red one, to be exact. Here are some out-of-game renders of it, I will get some in-game renders of it tomorrow, with the metallic texture added.

Wooooooooo! *clap* Welcome back to modding GSCCC!! Brilliant progress on ROTS! It is looking brilliant! You are welcomed back by all here at Holowan. Hey everyone,

Got another update for you, the Jedi Council Chambers are more or less completed now. Here is an in-game screenshot to give you the idea:

Now that that's done I can start on the Malkazi Temple. I will show you guys that one soon.

You're right, it does seem to be a little dark, I was going to have it be cloudy during the council meeting session, but I figured I might try a few different options. What do you think of this one? It's a bit brighter, less clouds in the sky so the sun is let in a bit more.

Unfortunately, that mod only really existed on PCGAMEMODS and now that its down, the mod has been wiped from humanity... Not that its really a bad thing though, I made that mod a long time ago, when I was very new to modding and quite a bit immature in both my writing styles and, if you check my threads back then, the way I spoke with people .

Thanks for the feedback . Could you be a little more specific though? Do you mean the lights as in the AuroraDLights in the module or the textured lights?

I meant the AuroraDLights. What do you need to have on and off? Is this something to do with specular and diffuse? I guess I should try more stuff on my own...

Well you need to check "Is Dynamic Light". This will make the light show up in game. Next you want to set the Radious, this one you have to judge for yourself, which means you will be doing a lot of going in and out of the game to see if it looks good enough.

Multiplier sets the inner circle intensity of the light, again this will only be seen in game. Priority is only if you have more than one light in your module, unfortunately, only two lights will remain on at once in the same area, I'm not really sure why this is, I think it has to do with the fact that these aren't the lights they use in the original game. Anyways, setting a priority of 1 will make it the maximum priority and obviously 5 will be the least priority.

The other options are pretty self-explanatory. If you need any other help specifically with that, just send me a pm and I would love to help you out. Though I would think Quanon would be a better person to ask those questions as he has more experience in that area than I.

Hope that helps,

-Gsccc

Not really, you're pretty spot on on how to use the lights.

Another setting you might explore is the Ambient. Its strong though in color terms. I tried to use a red light, but the hue was to strong, it started to look like a brothel or something, not what I was looking for.

The sky looks better now, its best to use:

SelfIllumColor 1.0 1.0 1.0

You'll have to add that in the ASCII file on the Mesh of the Sky.
Strangly Diffuse and Ambient channel get out in the export, but not the SelfIllumColor.

It make things bright, well the texture that is , skys and landscapes always reflect light.

The thing that gets me all the time though is that the lights fade out if there are more than 2, in the area. So only 2 lights will stay on at a time, once the player moves even 1 meter away from the light, if another one is closer that light will turn off. Do you get that too?

-Gsccc

Yep all the time and fiddling with the priorty often makes it far worse...
It looks Bioware had a way to export/convert the Max lights.
These AuroraDlights seem to be more for extra atmosphere then real lighting.

Plus ofcourse the power of Lightmaps. I should really look into that, its not that hard to create a lightmap, but like most of the times the hardest part is to get things working in the game.

Have not yet found (obvious)cluess to where to use the second channel on meshes, so that I can apoint a lightmap to it.

Anyway, I'm on a break now(modding) , these last few weeks I somehow fell drained and actually not enjoying myself with the tools.

It looks Bioware had a way to export/convert the Max lights.
These AuroraDlights seem to be more for extra atmosphere then real lighting.

Plus of course the power of Lightmaps.

I completely understand Quanon, you've done A LOT of modeling.

I would tear what's left of my hair out if I tried to do what you're doing

Looks great Gsccc, I can't wait to start putting stuff into the modules.

Tell you what, I will put a poll up on our forums about it that way we can get a better idea on if we should use it or not . Thank you very much for the feedback though.

Yes, it is a project for TSL.

I should have more updates this weekend, probably a model of the Malkazi Temple and the cryogenic chamber.

Okay, after long hours of grueling and sobbing, I have made a playable model of the Cryogenic Chamber in the Malkazi Temple, it is a very ealry render, still have to add a LOT of detail, but I figured I would try and get you guys a few in-game pics.

Here is how it looks right now:

The lighting is terrible and the lights themselves need work. I need sleep though, it's 2:00 AM over here.
