Anyone else starting to feel they won't be disappointed if there's no KOTOR 3?
I don't know, I'll probably get a bunch of "No ways!" from most people here, but I, for one, am starting to think differently. The years are passing by and there is not a single hint that a third Knights of the Old Republic game is even being considered. Every time there are rumors to the contrary LucasArts shoots them down.
Well, as much as I love KOTOR, as time goes on I lose interest. I'm still going to adore the first two games and play them continuously, but I'll live if there is no third game. As a Star Wars fan, there are other projects that easily satiate my long, such as The Force Unleashed. If we don't get a third KOTOR game all of the loose ends will be tied up by Dark Horse or Lucas Books, I'm sure. (The bad thing about that, though, is that the casual fans who aren't into anything beyond the games will never know what happened.)
Now, don't get me wrong, it would be stupendous if a new KOTOR game is officially announced, and I will probably do flips in my living room (and likely break something and have to be rushed to the hospital); but if there is not, I don't really care that much anymore. I love the games for what they are, and I'll survive if the saga is not revisited in video game form.
Anyone else know what I'm talking about or having similar feelings?

I agree completely, I'd love KIII, but as I've said in other threads, it seems unlikely now, plus with the next gen thing a couple of years back, I think a third would stylistically be too different to the previous

Agreed. If another one does come down the line, I will be overwhelmed with joy. Since a lot of time has passed, I will not be upset if it does not arrive. When it comes to storytelling through novalization, most writters release a book's sequal in a short time. We are heading into the third year now, and we have heard nothing definitive on the subject of sequal. I personally believe they will finish the story in comics or novels.

I disagree with y'all I want a conclusion to the trilogy
I wanna find out who these true Sith are and what happened to Revan.

IMO just talking about it in a comic book would be worse than not getting the game at all because it would alienate all the male Exile and Female Revan and darkside players. The Story is designed to be a 3rd Chapter in an rpg. I feel I can almost garantee I woud not like whatever they would do. And mathemically most players would be unsatisfied too I imagine.

The world is not going to end if KotOR III doesn't come out. I mean, it is only just a video game. Yes, of course, I will be happy if it does actually come out, but even if it did, I most likely wouldn't be able to get it because I don't have a next generation console. One day I will, but not anytime real soon.
Life will still go on without a KotOR III....

I share the same sentiment, although I still have hope there will be a K3. But never would I want to see the story continued in a novel or comic. I'd hate that.

But would it be worth living?
Seriously though, it would still be a disappointment to me if they didn't finish what they started. Does that mean that I haven't prepared myself for the likely outcome of no K3? No. It would be a disappointment, but not a surprise.

I've known there's not going to be a KOTOR III since i saw the DS ending for KOTOR II. They didn't care about the ending so they must not care about the sequel either.

...I don't want to know who the True Sith are. I prefer leaving them 'mysterious'. Reveal who they are, and you might strain crediblity and ruin the magic. Even more than you already have with a Force Wound and all. There are other reasons too, but yeah, that's the biggest one.
So, no, I won't feel disappointed if there is no K3. I will feel disappointed if K3 comes out.
EDIT: Okay, fine, I'd be semi-fine if they followed my view of the True Sith. Anything else...nah.

I think it has something to do with momentum. If LA waits too long, the momentum of KOTOR and TSL will be gone, and we'll need to recap ourselves with what happened to understand what's going on in K3.

I have stated before that if there will not be a KOTOR III that it would not matter to me at all; I've pretty moved on from that.

If they do make one, rest assured, I will have five different heart attacks at once and I will then do eight somersaults. But it won't kill me if they don't make one.

I'd be disappointed, but I'd get over it. The way I see it, if LA doesn't give in and make K3 (or rather, hire someone to make K3 ), then that gives me all the more freedom to write what I want
But again, I'd be disappointed.

i'd be slightly dissapointed but i'd live. One thing though if they dont make KOTOR3 i'd like for LA to do up a book explaining what happened to revan and the exile. Maybe also an origin book on darth nihilus and sion wouldnt be too bad either

Now that LucasArts has a new president I don't feel like I have any idea as to whether or not there will be a KotOR 3. If Mr. Rodriguez ever gets around to doing any interviews then maybe he'll make some remark that will give us a clue as to his ideas/thoughts on LucasArts making KotOR 3. Of course if he came right out and told everyone that LucasArts would/woudn't continue the KotOR franchise then that would be swell. I don't think the chances of that happening are very high though.

I will be disappointed if K3 never comes out. I also disagree that next-gen consoles make it unlikely; why wouldn't the game style work on next-gen?

Honestly, if they are going to make a KOTOR 3 it won't be announced until after TFU is released and all the hype from it dies down.

I'm thinking of Kotor now as if no games games of the franchise were ever released. If they announce it, I'll be seriously surprised. "Oh, a Star Wars RPG? How come no one ever thought that?"

Yeah, that's the MMORPG. That's different than KOTOR 3. There's been little doubt that that's coming out.
EDIT: Oh, wait... LucasArts is actually considering the MMORPG the third installment? Well, that's just smurfing retarded! That's going to alienate so many non-MMORPG fans who have been dying to play the third game, but can't due to either lack of money to pay the monthly bill or intimidation at the idea of a MMORPG. I, for one, fall into both categories.
They should make the MMORPG something entirely different from KOTOR 3.
This post sums up my feelings on the matter.

I wont be but if they dont release it they may end up losing a lot of fans as what they created with those two games is fantastic especially the two main characters as many people can releate to them and it would just be plain cruel to not tell us how it all ends.

I don't mind at all if it's not made. The only reason I wanted it to be created in the first place was to find out what happens after the cliffhanger at the end of TSL, but I think that will all be covered up with TSLRP.

I've read where someone else had reported that the MMO and KOTOR 3 were not the same thing. I've also read rumors that stated Bioware was working on KOTOR 3.
Now on the Next Gen stuff. I hope that is seriously wrong. If they do a Next Gen console only, with no PC port, then they will loose money. I'm not spending $50 for a game and then also have to spend $200-$300 for the console also, haven't bought a console in nearly a decade - since I saw the limited edition Episode 1 Racer Nintendo 64 in K-Mart. I won't buy a console just so I can play this one game.

Althought I'd hate LA for life if they didn't release the game for PC, you're not very well informed. Console games revenues far surpasses those of PC, so there's a possibility that K3 never shine it's light on PC - damn, it's likely it doesn't shine anything, anywhere at all.

Actually, it might save them money. The amount of effort to develop the PC version and do verification on a wide array of systems might not be justified by the relatively limited number of PC versions sold.

Limited PC versions sold?
ARE YOU ALL COMING FROM MARS???????????????
The PC industry is at least strong as the Console industry.
Did you read the poll on the main page on lucasforum?
Console! 3.6%
PC! 44.6%
I strike a balance between the two. 51.8%
You see?
The Pc is stronger then never.
If the PC industry is low, then the scale of the console industry is microscopical!!!
I think I voted from the first day the poll appeared, and since I voted, the results of the poll are THE SAME!!!!!!
So what?
I give 3.000.000$ on developing a PC version.
But I give 750.000$ for the PS2 version, 1.000.000$ for the PS3 and also 1.000.000 for the XBox version and another 300.000$ for the PSP version.
And at the end I have like 1.500.000 copies sold on PC and 1.150.000 copies on all the consoles.
Draw the line and see the result.
Stop @$$ kissing LA and thus stop giving them excuses for not making TFU- and possibly other games- for PC.
TFU won't break any recored for sold copies.
Maybe for hacked downloads.
TFU will be on the lower half of the top-sold-games on LA.
