Thanks everyone for your honest input, I appreciate it... seems the movie may just be worth venturing past the front door for

Wow... I just got back from seeing it, and it was ****ing good. Incredible. If Ledger doesn't win an Oscar for this, I'll be severely disappointed.

No one. I repeat, no one could've come anywhere close to pulling off that role like he did. This is easily the best movie of the year, and the best superhero movie ever.

I posted about this at The Swamp, but this movie seriously was the best movie ever. The only problem I have was that everyone outacted Christian Bale.

That's what I was hearing.. mainly my reason for my previous post on whether the movie was really that good. I didn't want to see it if everyone else's performance was lackluster and Heath had to carry it entirely.. but seems the other cast members did remarkable as well so I'm hoping it's true. One out of everyone else doesn't seem to be too bad.. though Bale being the lead actor still makes me wonder

It doesn't help that everytime I see Christian Bale, I either see Patrick Bateman or Demetrius... and the latter is my least favorite character in AMND.... But honestly, my favorite performance was Aaron Eckhart.... So yeah, definatly you wanna see this. And when you do, here's a recommendation, learn to hold your bladder, because you won't wanna miss a moment.

I wish they had more Christian Bale in TDK, but I still think he did a great job as Bruce Wayne/Batman. But, yeah, he did get overshadowed by The Joker and Harvey Dent.

Wow! The Dark Knight sucked!

Well, not really, but it could have been better. (Sorry Achilles ) IMHO it was slightly better than The Incredible Hulk, but not as good as Iron Man. I will say this though, Heath Ledger's performance was outstanding and kept the movie afloat.

No problem with feeling that way: different strokes for different folks. Though I am curious as to WHAT exactly you didn't like about it, or what about it you thought fell short.

In my opinion it ran a little long, and they didn't really USE the batman character enough. I also didn't like how outrageous they made Bruce Wayne... or rather, how they made it so blatant that Bruce Wayne doesn't care about his image. I still think it was a brilliant movie and those gripes are minimal at best. Would you agree with those or are there other things?

I watched Batman Begins last night and I think they were pretty consistent with Bruce Wayne.

Ehh, Achilles should blame the nerds. You could ignore the viral campaign if it wasn't for the nerds on every forum hyping the film. And that video is gold, there's a whole bunch of other ones that are hilarious.

I believe we are thinking along the same lines, but I would add that I didn't like how...

Yeah Harvey Dent is dead, but I think Two-Face may still be alive. There are arguments against him being dead or not. I think he may still be alive. And we all know that Christopher Nolan likes to throw in twists.

Nah, he's probably dead. It was part of his character arc, plus having the fall spread out across more than 1 movie? I thought we were trying to avoid the prequels here

I'd quite like to see Nolan's take on The Penguin - he's managed to reinvent the Joker, so what could he do with Mr. Cobblepot? Or maybe even try and create a new Selina Kyle.

I agree that Nolan has done great things for the Batman franchise, but Heath Ledger reinvented the Joker.

I saw it again today, and I was blown away yet again. His performance was somehow even more chilling this time.

Agreed, I did however think it was the best new movie I'll see this year, Heath Ledger was good, but not as great as some are making out - he was very good. However if he gets an Oscar for his Joker, I have to ask why didn't Hugo Weaving get an Oscar for Agent Smith in the Matrix?

I liked the the darkness of this movie, didn't see Rachel dying, but had figured Dent was going to become Two Face...

The Dark Knight is #1 on IMDb's top 250!!!

That's just...wow!
The only movie to come out this decade, and it just came out this week!!!

I haven't seen it yet because my fiancee is scared to death of clowns/jokers, bless her...I will at some point though.

Saw it again the other day. Two scenes are particularly good. The first is where the Joker is giving his chaos speech to Dent in the hospital. The second is when he escapes from the jail and is driving the police car with his head out of the window. It's like he's some sort of animal...

Uh, did you miss the LotR Trilogy, each with three separate rankings for each of the films? Or WALL-E, another recently released movie? Or The Departed, No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood? Or Batman Begins?

Meh, I think that a Saw-like Riddler would be much more interesting to watch. Also, I hope that Nolan calls it quits after a third installment. The last thing we need is another Batman franchise that has been milked until it's dead.

I concur, Hugo Weaving was perfect as Smith, and deserved an Oscar, as does Heath Ledger for the Joker.

The movie was awesome, I saw it in a packed theater, which for the first time ever, was perfectly silent. Brilliant movie, 5/5.

Yeah. I'm seeing it for the third time either this Monday, or next Saturday with my friend. Its her third time as well. There are things that you might not get during your first showing, so its good to see it twice at least.

I have been a lifelong Batman fan, and I don't think that the Joker has ever been portrayed as evil as he was meant to be. I also noted that this movie is incredibly Dark. You'll have to see it for yourself to know what I mean.

Also, as soon as the movie started my heart was beating faster than it did after a 50 meter Butterfly sprint.

spoiler:
Also, in the first scene I felt like screaming my head off as I saw the Joker manipulating his minions, so they all died, one by one.

Finally, this movie sets a record as the loudest movie I have ever seen in my life.

Me too.

That was a nice moment, realizing that the Joker was one of the guys behind the masks as he tricked them into killing each other.

I say Ra's Al Ghul's daughter Talia, or maybe Riddler or Freeze if Nolan and company can reinvent them like they did with Scarecrow and Two-Face (I think most of the credit for the Joker's reinvention goes to Heath on this one).

Best movie since Empire Strikes Back? I think so. The entire movie was awesome. It started at Batman Begins and stayed there until the beginning of the Second Part, after the return of Jim Gordon, upon which the movie snorted a line of cocaine and went into overdrive awesome mode.

Let's not blow things out of proportion.
