Post X-Wing 95 Pilot Recovery .NET

Hi,

I'm new here and all, and I just wanted to let you guys know I've created a pilot editor for X-Wing 95. As it stands, I can't really find one for X-Wing 95... only for the DOS version. Considering how hard X-Wing is, I usually took it upon myself to keep back up copies of my pilots considering how easy it is to be captured in that game, and thus lose your pilot. Unfortunately, to really protect your pilot you have to keep backups after every mission, and it's a real pain.

Although the Win 95 version of the game lets you recover your pilot, you also have to sacrifice your score and rank to do so, and that's not cool (they made the automatic backup/restore in Tie Fighter for a reason!). So, I got tired of it and made my own restore utility, eliminating the need for constant back-ups. If your pilot gets toast, just run the utility and you can restore your pilot at no cost.

This is not a full fledged pilot editor, but if any of you would be interested in seeing one, I could just as easily turn it into one. You can grab a copy from my site:

It does require the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or higher, but there's a link for that right on my web page if you don't have it already.

I would like to see it as a full pilot editor where you can skip missions your having trouble with to go along with reviving your pilot. Lately I've been playing X-Wing 95 in the historical missions so if I die I won't lose my status. I have saved my pilot file over the years after completing the game.

X-Wing and Tie Fighter 95 are still some of my favorite games and they came out in 1998. I don't know if I'll ever stop playing them.

That's a pretty good idea. I'll think about adding that feature. Thanks.

I found this thread via google -- Thanks for this utility! I wish with the updated X-Wing trilogy version they had included some of the features from TIE fighter. I was not able to run any other utlities because they are all 16-bit DOS which does not run under Vista x64!
