I beleive a MMO would probably be more succesful than a RPG. But it won't be storydriven, you'd just end up farming bosses to continue the cliffhanger. But there are more people who'd buy an MMO just because its an MMO. Plus it has name recogniston with Star Wars and KOTOR. It could be terrible and still do well. Either way even if its a good MMO it won't continue the story well.

Could you please clarify?
Chapter 12 of A Soul Adrift is out.
Short stories:
T'katlu: On the planet Felucia, a young apprentice of the Dark Side thinks back to the beginning of her training as she lies in wait for her prey...
All the Time: After four years in the Unknown Regions, the Exile returns to the known galaxy to visit an old enemy.
Broken: A master of the Dark Side finds himself about to lose the one thing he cares about--and he will do anything to stop her from endangering herself.

The content would be the problem. The experience KotOR offers is somewhat unique, and on my view impossible to be reproduced to a MMO. How about the choices, the dialogs? A plot and, for God's sake, an ending? The characters? The feeling that the galaxy really relies on you and not on "Joe_Doe4evar" to save the day?

Well I guess it's possible then that Obsidian Entertainment is working on K3, since Bioware is doing "The Old Republic".

Yep, something superior to the two would be great, but failing that, I agree that KotOR would be a better model than TSL, given that it had an actual plot twist, and an ending...

I personally think that the original KOTOR is a lot more boring than the second one, at least after seeing the plot twist once. In the second one, there are a ton of powers to try out, hundreds of lightsaber upgrade options, TONS of dialog options (well, except for Bao-Dur and Disciple ) and, IMO, a much more interesting storyline. I'm still trying to sort out the true stuff Kreia said (however sparsely placed it may be) and the baloney.

The only thing that confuses me is the idea that TSL has no ending, yet K1 supposedly does.

^ plus its heaps more interactive than the 2nd one in every sense IMO
The idea of a KoTOR MMO just wouldn't be KoTOR at all. It has a certain unique experience that I know the MMO prject will never be able to duplicate. If there is anyone to blame for this; it should be EA for coming up with such an incompetent, lazy idea.

Something just came up in my mind (doesn't happen very often, blame alcohol).
I wasn't an active member at the time K2 was released.
But I do remember Lucasarts released a trailer. One trailer only. Including the date the game was to be released.
Does anybody know how many months were between them?
Because, I have a certain feeling the 21th will give us a trailer. Because artwork won't do. "The wait is over." We aren't waiting for a boring announcement.
I know this has been in development since 2007, but does anybody know how much time was between the trailer-release of K2? We might have a possible release date for k3 too then.
PS: Since Christmas is impossible. Maybe a Q3 2009 release?

Content-wise and graphically, I will concede that TSL was (marginally ) superior, but IMO the storyline of KotOR was better.

Maybe it's just that the KotOR endings are more interesting, more dramatic - especially considering it was a standalone - while TSL was alway supposed to be part of a series (True Sith bit). TSL's ending was a little bit of a letdown, IMO, as the two were so similar no matter what, contrasted to KotOR.

 Two days left!
I'm not a MMORPG fan in any means. I just want this to be over. I want to hear Knights of the Old Republic this or that. I wish for a single player game; however, I'm not going to be surprised by a multiplayer one.

For me it's incredibly hard to see KotOR as boring. Even the second game... well, except for Nar Shaddaa and it's waves of uninteresting NPCs.

I can get Visas, Handmaiden, Mira, and HK to talk with me for a long time. Hanharr--he just goes in a circle. The thing that redeems Atton out of the 'needs to be thrown in the garbage' oblivion is that his backstory was interesting.
And he'd play pazaak with me in the middle of a battle...y'know, let my Force points recharge...
Kreia--no comment.

As far as I'm concerned, this isn't a bash KotOR II thread.
I'll be glad when this announcement has finally been said. All this pointless banter about how empty K2 is, and how fulfilling K1 was.
In terms of a KotOR MMO, well, if the announcement turns out to be the MMO, I'll laugh and say I told you all so. If the announcement brings other news, I'll, errrm, calmly walk on, lol.

You mean a good RPG or one that lets you have sex with a hot blue alien?
Still, I'd be OK with an MMO if it's well done, but I think it'll really take away a lot of what was great about the other Kotor games, ie: some semblance of an actual story.
"So if you go to Washington, it's buildings clean and nice. Bring a pack of matches...and we'll burn the White House twice!"

It would be the one thing that is severely lacking in a good percentage of the MMO's out there. I would really like to see an MMO that has a very good and long lasting story. It would also be nice if you didn't have to spend days grinding womprats to gain a level haha...

If by tomorrow you mean Tuesday, then yes. October 21st.
Might be a little later in the day, but the gaming sites should have some stuff up pretty quickly considering the magnitude of the "Secret" Bioware has been holding from us.
Although, I've gotta say, I wouldn't be surprised at all if this turned out to be KOTOR3. Now, I've got 0% hope that it is K3 (As I gave up on a K3 upon finishing TSL the first time), but all this secrecy and withholding of information almost makes it out to be the opposite of what we expect.
But, in the end, its an idea that is pretty pointless to grab onto. We know its Star Wars related. We already know the Engine that it is using is an MMO engine. We know that EA and some disgruntled Bioware employees have let it slip.
The question that is on my mind and will be on your minds tomorrow is:
Will it be any good?

'IF' it's an MMO (All Evidence points there) and it makes a whole new game of it using the great styles, vehicles, planets, and feel, established and continued by the great K1+K2... AWESOME!..
If they try to complete the trilogy with, it ie. finish Revan/Exile's Story, re-hash the Mando wars and step on the comics then NO!!
Like Galaxies, when you fit it into too tight of a box or steer too near to established time lines you cant really make your own game of it without coming across a gang of crazed canon-whores

I hope they end the trilogy with it...
A single player component with an MMO multiplayer perhaps?
Because there is no canon end to Revan's and Exile's story. I think the keepers of canon would like an end of some sort.
Anyways, I can't help but feel this is Kotor comic-related....call me stupid, but that dark-ish statue in a secret room...the way the comics are heading, with all the dark side, the lack unveiling the next story arc (they only show an in-between arc in which a buiseness deal goes wrong).
I hope for some Zayne, Revan and Exile action to finish this as epic as possible.

I'm still holding out hope for a KOTOR/Full Throttle Crossover FPS/Adventure Game hybrid.
It'd be called something like this: Star Wars: Full Throttle II - Ripburger's Revenge.
"There is something going on in time and space, and beyond time and space, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty." -Winston Churchill
"For of all sad words of tongue or pen, The saddest are these: 'It might have been!'" -John Whittier
"Apathy is death." -Kreia
