If you don't mind older graphics you could try LucasArt's back catalogue of excellent adventure games like Day of the Tentacle and Sam N Max. A more recent one is Bone which you have to buy online. It's kinda short but you only pay US$20 or so. There;s also Anhk (sp?) which is coming out soon or is already out. It's a fun adventure set in Egypt.

Definitely Broken Sword! They're really funny and colourful and still have interesting and exciting plots. You can get the first two for a really cheap price here.

Give them a try, you'll love them.

Or, if you want some free games, and don't mind if the games aren't too polished and professional, you could try some amateur adventure games:

James' post reminded me of Flight of the Amazon Queen. It's an older but really funny game that has been released as freeware. It's sort of like a mixture between Indiana Jones and Monkey Island. You need to download SCUMMVM to play it, but that's not an obstacle.

Go and play!

right now i'm playing Keepsake, a rather childish game, but it's cute and VERY pretty as it was made 2006. great for harry potter fans.

as for the cow love, what game is this again? is it literally called "little big adventure"?

curse of monkey island is my tip.
the spacequest series are hilarious but also really frustrating. like headexplosionfrustrating.

it's supposed to smell like a wallmart forcefield generating unit, but we could only do 16 different odors in EGA, so it smells a lot like the timepod!

"Moment of Silence" a futuristic look at oppression and the "big brother" concept...deep story with a chilling conclusion...look into it, I loved it!
