I thought the same thing. I can smell you all the way here in The Netherlands!
Bound only by the paper thin wrapper of mortality, a soul here lies, struggling to be free, and so it will thanks to a bowl of bad gazpacho and a man named Calavera!

You were right to get pissy.
First Purple Tentacle posts "His" new poster. It wasn't until his double-posting did he mention that he didn't make it. But again, never did he link people to the larger version or give credit to the person who made it, which would be Javier Burgos.
The point of this thread is to create new, or large versions of LucasArts (or similar) posters. Posting a 200X300 pixel image really wouldn't look good made poster-size.

I got now Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge clean poster, without the title, now in my wall printed to 70x50cm and it looks great. Thanks for the scan.

He never claimed it was his own poster... he just posted a small picture of a cool Monkey Island poster someone made, where's the harm in that?
You seem to be aware of the fact that the things you're picking on are invalid (you made it seem like you thought he was claiming to have made the poster, but then made it clear that you didn't actually think that, and I'm sure you don't seriously think that he was intending for us to print the thumbnail off and put it on our walls). Don't create problems where there are none, it just creates unnecessary tension and bad feelings in the forum.

Where's the harm in not? I'm not at all saying that he shouldn't have written the artist's name under the image, but the fact that he didn't doesn't warrant all this moaning. Seriously, I've never seen so much uproar over something that barely qualifies as an event.

But filling this thread with eventless posts (including discussions about them, like you do right now) isn't really helping to keep the thread on track. And this thread should be about poster creation, reference material for them, techniques to make them and so forth... and I WOULD have understood if purple-tentacle had posted that poster with a question about it, or the idea to turn it into a big poster. But simply posting it without any idea behind it is technically spamming.
I don't want this thread to turn into a "post anything that's remotely related to LucasArts and posters"-thread. Let's be a little more productive.

I think he probably misunderstood the purpose of the thread.
Anyway, I do see what you mean. We could purge the thread - maybe create a seperate topic for all these crappy posts (or just delete them)

purple_tentacle: I can't speak for anyone else here, but I for one am getting pretty fed up by your crap. You never listen to any of the advice you are given and keep ranting on like a child.
You should apologize to Laserschwert.
And yes, stop that god darn double posting!

MadMattUK: I suggest you buy a mint copy and have it scanned then. They're probably only 40-80 bucks on ebay.:P
I have a box but it's a bit scuffed and has a sticker. Don't know if it would help much

You make a good point, i might message some of the sellers on ebay (btw i saw prices in excess of 200bucks) to see if they are willing to scan their box in for a buck or two.

Be careful with the ebay offers, I've seen a few that show the box art but in the fine print it says you only get the CD and jewel case.

i dont plan on buying the game, just gonna check if any of the sellers will be willing to scan in their box for free (or for a reasonably small fee).
I have the game already, acquired using more er.... 21st century means.

I hate this ******** so much! I just want to gut everyone on Ebay that advertises a game as new and sends you a loose CD!

Hey Laserschwert, any chance you could do a poster of this?
If so, would we have to email Bill for permission?

Best off asking him for a high-resolution version, or get Remi (who owns the SCUMM Bar) to ask. That looks too low-resolution to satisfactorily be turned into a poster.

Yeah, I don't think that image was painted big enough to print it at poster size. Plus, it's not really poster-themed...

Why would we want hi-res versions of those pictures? They're just from some hypothetical movie that may or may not have been in development at some point and may or may not have featured people you may or may not wish to refer to as "pirates". Nothing to do with any adventure games...

I've just watched EA's press-conference (it was a live stream from GamesCom), and Tim Schafer was there presenting "Brütal Legend".
And now I'm hoping that he's there all week, as I'll be there on Thursday... he could sign one of my posters! I'm way too excited now...

You should go one step further and cover his face in ink and then press a piece of paper on it so you get a print of his face. It's better than a signature and he'd be completely up for it.
At least ask him if it'd be okay... (carry a bottle of ink with you in case he says yes, which would be awesome and you'd be famous and he'd sell loads more games)

I've changed my mind about the posters, and now I've printed a few 4x6 inch cards (10x15 cm), with the artworks from "Day of the Tentacle" (the normal one and the SW-one), "Full Throttle", "Grim Fandango" and "Brütal Legend". It's a little more portable... Edit: I've found a smaller FT-poster, which I'll bring. Now here's hoping that he's still there AND has time.

AND doesn't mind getting ink on his face.
Or you could do a plaster cast of his hand in the sign of the devil. Yeah, do that.
