Here are my scans from the Monkey2 Madness "cover" found in the LEC Archives Manual:
http://scummgames.net/m2madness.htm
You'll see they're not great quality, but it is what you asked for... and I'll take my hat off to you if you can use that to complete the "poster". On a related note, I will (when I get the opertunity) create a page with all of these covers/posters available for direct download - so long as Laserschwert can point me in the direction of available dfownloads for all of them (I've noticed some DL's are missing).

Thanks for sharing, could you possibly upload the version that has the original sky at that size?

The greyscale version is missing too much detail, I think

It's greyscale in the Archives Manual - and it doesn't have a lot of detail because it's printed on a PAGE of the manual (rather than on a glossy cover like the Monkey Island 1 CD-ROM Booklet).
On a related note, here are some photos of Actual MI1/2 posters (not derived from Box scans). The first MI1 one you all know about, but the second is the one LEC sent out to fans (I don't have one, and I curse at passing up my opportunity to get one).
http://scummgames.net/posters.htm
The Monkey Island 2 one is less cropped even than SPAFF's (actually, I'm fairly certain that it's a photo of the original painting).

It wasn't a dig at you, I was just making the point that I think it would be hard to get a decent image from it, unfortunately.
I'm not sure it's even worth trying to squeeze every bit of artwork back onto it, though. Cropping the top, for example, improves the look of the artwork (as it was intentionally blank for the logo to fit in).

Obviously you forgot about how it all started... over at the "ridiculously large cover scans"-thread... I've used your B&W-scan of the manual together with that photo of the painting to clean up your box-scan.

Sanguinehearts was kind enough to host them on his webspace too. I've added the link to the top of the opening post.

Actually, I have your old image files from back then. I don't remember uploading the manual cover, ahh still. The dark background on the MI2 was something I did, the original image is much brighter.

Yep, I got inspired by your coloring, so I used it for my version as well.

I love that frame...
I think it is and it is closer to the normal movie poster dimensions which would be awesome to have.

Got mine hung! (Thumbails, click to enlarge)
Since the dimensions are a bit different for Monkey Island 1, 3, and 4, I'll be getting those in 16x20 and putting the three of them together.
I've got tons of really high res video game related artwork but Laserschwert's stuff definitely made me jump for joy.
Does anyone have any 300-600dpi stuff from Shadow of the Colossus, Psychonauts, the Shin Megami Tensei series, or artwork by Yosh1taka Amano (Final Fantasy 1 thru 6) -- had to say Yosh1taka 'cause the forum censors Yo****aka
Also, I was wondering if I could make a request or two: (Thumbnails, click to enlarge--refresh the Castlevania one and it'll come up.)
And since I'm making a request, it's only fair that I give something back.
Here's the best of what I have in terms of HR Video Game imagery. This .rar (password is 'lucasarts' sans quotes) has a bunch of Metal Gear Solid artwork, some Brutal Legend key art, a bit of Final Fantasy stuff, some Nintendo stuff, a few images from Okami, and Street Fighter IV artwork of Ryu.
http://www.filefactory.com/file/ag79...ResVGStuff_rar
Keep up the fantastic work! There's still loads of wall space in my man cave!

Laserschwert, I'd still appreciate if you could upload the logoless MI1 one without the filters over it (but without the "clouds" in the sky), and if possible the MI2 one before recolourization. I have just finished retouching my scans for upload, which I'll post shortly...

I don't have that, I'm afraid. I did the colorization first, and then retouched everything at that color-scheme.

by the way once uploaded I'm going to rename them to a format along the lines of...
laserschwert_gamename_version.jpg
The real benefit to that is that when someone downloads them to some random folder and they're ordered by name (or file extension) all your files will appear together in the folder. I'll do the same with my own scans too...

I've uploaded my KIXX scan now to http://scummgames.net/box.htm ...
It's 600dpi (rather than 1200dpi) - and no, no detail has been lost in this process (I had to do it at this level to preserve the fine detail correctly).
Here's a comparison to show you just how much more detail is in the KIXX box:

yeah the brush strokes are more evident but I like the subdued contrast on the left one better. The right one looks like he is addicted to sun banks

Yeah, but I'm not in the mood to work on the MI1-posers again... I've just finished the logo-less ones. Someone else do it.

Laserschwert: How could I get you in the mood to try and extend that MI2 poster? If you don't want to do it, I could try my luck, but that would have to wait till July...still working on my diploma project here..

Of course they are. Laserschwert did a tremendous job with all of them.
It's just knowing that my beloved masterpiece exists in a taller format makes me mad.
Like watching a classic movie in Pan&Scan 1:1,78 when you know it should be viewed in 1:2,35
I'm planning on getting the MI2 poster for my new apartment and I really want to use a high class poster frame. So the original poster length is needed. As I said earlier, I might try to do it myself if I find the time. (between two moves and a new job)

So here is my first fiddling.
As you can see the original painting seems something akin to 94x60, not 80x60
And with the extended length it just feels more epic and pleasing to the eye.
Is there any way we can get that photo of the framed artwork in higher res?
And if I'm going to do it, I'll need your .PSD file Laserschwert, not the JPG.

I don't think there's a bigger version of the photo out there...
By the way, I've posted TIFFs of the MI-posters before upscaling right HERE, so, be my guest. (Although I've gotta say, without the MI2-logo to me the artwork looks much better composition-wise at 4:3, than it does with even more empty space in the frame.)

thanks! btw did you do the upscaling using normal Photoshop filters or something more advanced like those INSTANT HD filters?
EDIT: LOL it seems they deleted the file while I downloaded it. Can't get it anymore.
EDIT2: YUP seems to work again. Weird.

Actually while I agree the colours may be a little too saturated in the KIXX box, overall it makes the LEC one look very washed out.
I'm having a look at the moment as to what I can do with the textless versions supplied by Laserschwert (which to begin with used my scans) - especially in regards to the third tree in Monkey1 (which is difficult - or at least I'm finding difficult). I already repaired the shape of the skull:
which was relatively easy...

I know what I am going to do with these. I am going to throw the image on a Rasterbator (Dont know if I spelled that right) and just put them together. I love the sam and Maz one and the Indys. Thnx.
