Leveling Question
Yo. Hey. I'm brand new. I actually registered for the sole purpose of asking a question, since I couldn't find an answer to it anywhere else. Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the levelling cap at level 20 in KOTOR1? I love this game, but it's awfully frustrating to be roadblocked ten or fifteen hours before you even step foot on the Star Forge.
Anyway, if anyone can help, that'd be great. I'm still a complete noob at this modding thing, so hopefully, it's just editing the swkotor.ini file or something simple like that.
Look forward to hearing something from you guys.

No, it's impossible. Several people have attempted it, but it is impossible.

Seriously? I could've sworn I'd read something a few months ago about just adding the XP requirements for levels after 20. Guess I was mistaken. Bummer.

Someone tried it, again. And couldn't get it to work... again. I'm afraid that cap is there to stay.

If you could figure out how to decompile the .exe file into its sorce form you might be able to edit it but no one has done that if its even possible.

That's illegal, against the EULA, and also against the rules, as is discussion of it.

So...I looked into a save game editor (I think it's called KSE) that claims to be able to edit your level above the cap. If I read it right, that auto-adjusts your vitality and force points, but won't automatically grant you more attributes, skills, feats, or powers, but those can be edited eventually. I figure that if you can figure out at what experience intervals new levels would come, and what bonuses should come with them, you could theoretically use the save game editor to artificially give your characters those bonuses.
It's kind of the long way around, and it doesn't have the convenience of just removing a cap or extrapolating an algorithm, but wouldn't it serve the same purpose?
