I have equal love for both - I have two cats and a dog, all of whom I love equally. Cats may be cleaner, but they're more independent than a dog. With dogs, it's a more mutual thing - I look after him, and he looks after me - he's always at the end of my bed at night, watching over me, and he's there when I wake up.
As for kittens being cuter than puppies, that's a load of bull - this is my dog when he was a rescue pup (forgive the fact that it's a christmas pic - he was the face of a food drive a few days before we picked him up):
Cats or Dogs, that is the question and the only answer iw dogs. By dogs I don’t mean those little posers that are really from the rodent family. No, I mean real dogs: Labradors, Beagles, Shetland Sheepdog, German Shepherds, Australian Cattle Dogs, Rottweilers and Akitas.
You have police dogs, fire dogs, search and rescue dogs, drug dogs, bomb sniffing dogs, guide dogs, herder dogs, dogs used for hunting, dogs used for racing…
I say dogs, my dog is ridiculously happy, I mean, he absolutley loves everyone and everything, it's hilarious! The only way he'd hurt anything would be by accident. Reason being, he is a huge dog, you wouldn't want him on your lap, oh, that and he drools, which is awesome Dogs are the best!
you very much If a tree would fall in the woods.....would the other trees laugh at it?

I love both; my best friend just got this puppy Golden Retriever who just loves me, and I have this cat who only shows her love for me by laying on my lap whenever I'm sitting (shes laying on me right now)
I only hate dogs and cats whenever they annoy me excessively. My friend's dog just plain follows me around and jumps on me. My cat likes to soften (read: pound) on the distinguishing mark of my sex when I'm laying down.
I vote cats - I find their arrogance and elitism inspiring.
I find it interesting to watch my 14-year-old cat going on his daily walk around his 'territory' - he goes exactly the same way all the time - he has managed to wear a path into the grass! Yes, I too have had my fair share of scratches from him (his favourite game was to hide at the bottom of the stairs and pounce out to attack your foot...), but now he just sits by the fire and wanders about.
I'm a dog lover . Dogs need more care than a cat but still like them more, they are more friendly than a cat.

I like both dogs and cats, and we might get a dog this summer if we build a fence around our back yard, but cats don't require quite as much care as dogs do. Change a litterbox once a week and you're good, no pooper scooper required. Plus, you can train a cat to do things just like you can dogs. I trained several of my cats to sit, stay, and 'give me five' and 'high five'.

dogs no doubt. they are nice friendly but they can kick your a$$ to if they need to plus if someone breaks into your house im not exactly sure they will be scared of your "guard-cat"

I used to have both, but you can only get real loyalty from a dog. Not to mention that, whenever I get home after a long trip, the party my dog promotes, jumping at the window and waving it's tail is just rewarding.

I have noted that our ancient feline has been incredibly loyal. He wanders off regularly for his walks, and has in the past been given food by others (he also refuses to wear a collar - claws them off), bu he has always returned to us. Even after we moved, within a couple of days he was back.
I know that's probably the exception rather than the general rule (as we have also had a cat that ran off), but it is still possible to get loyalty from a cat.

Not really, SW. My cat used to do that, and I suppose every other cat with freedom to come and go must do it as well. I think that being reaised there helps the animal to identify your place as "home", but that doesn't mean he's loyal. Granted, cats can be somewhat caring, even if in a selfish way (mine used to mew around me and rub his head and body on my legs in order to rest on my lap).
Back to the point, it's the place where it has guaranteed food, so he'll always come back.
