Cool, very nice.
Update on the Voodoo hideout: It's currently rendering and I still need to make some stills and maybe a movie. You'll definitely get it tomorrow on Sunday, dunno if I'm gonna make it tonight.
The Voodoo hideout perfectly illustrates what a good Monkey Island 2 desperately needs: Light & shadows, lots of them, moody and grotesque.
As you will see, a 3d approach to lighting and the exaggerated "cartoony" forms and textures of the original artworks are not mutually exclusive. They work together nicely. Enough teasing...back to mixing my Voodoo.

WOW! Once again you managed to make an old LeChuck's Revenge background looking so great! Amazing.
Your high resolution still has that old Monkey Island feel to it, I really like these 2D/3D renderings!
That lighting just gives it such a great atmosphere.

Holy S**T!
The job you've done on that is so good I'm tempted to plunge my life savings into coercing LEC into employing you as a lead on MI2:SE. Seriously good work there.

Amazing... I have no words.
If one person, in less than a week of work, and without disposing of the full quality of the original artwork is capable of reaching such degree of perfection, what couldn't LucasArts do with all their resources?
They must be blind if they don't take good note of your skills, you're REALLY talented and, as a fan, you know exactly what we fans want from a good remake (well, fans and anybody with eyes on their faces).

Oh crap, you just blew my mind - I know the images like the back of my hand but somehow I'm seeing them in a completely new way. Seriously good work there.
You should get one of these newfangled lucasforum awards that have started appearing.
You mean the way the sea stays steady as a rock and the buildings keep washing up and down? Yes I thought that was odd.

You don't have to be their employee, but maybe a paid (and well-paid ) collaborator. Or even your studio could be hired for a collaboration.
There are many possibilities, you don't have to leave Germany .

I can't say how amazed I am at this.
Unlike the SOMI:SE which was hit and miss at best, your approach takes everything about the game that was great and makes them better. THIS is the approach I would like to see for all MI games, not just an MI2 remake but all future games. Sorry to Tales of MI, but I just don't care for your art style.
THIS is Monkey Island.

Cool stuff Guy.brush, I really like the voodoo chair. I kind of prefer the original foreground drawings over the new 3D models, but then you wouldn't have been able to move the camera inside.
Any chance of making Wally's shop or is this your last one?

Don't we only have a colour test for Wally's? Might that mess it up?

Hah, I say if they are planning another special edition, they should farm out all of the backgrounds to you instead of the Singapore team. They should also supply you with every original background ever and then you can accidentally leak them to us.

Presumably the issue is the lack of original high-quality source material for SOMI - they only started using full colour scanned backgrounds in MI2

It'd definitely work with the special edition, though. It'd be really interesting to see how much better the SE could have looked with this technique, but 'tis up to Guy.brush!

Wow, this really takes the cake!
It's even better than the first one, and that one already blew me away!
I'm not kidding, you should apply for those jobs and show this to them.
They'll hire you without hesitation.
Oh yeah, don't let those "nice studio" guys fool you. They're money mad self absorbed soul-robbing people. They just want you for your looks!

Are you seriously saying you'd turn down an opportunity to live and work in San Francisco for a year? Your old job would be there for you when you got back... It's quite an opportunity! And they say it doesn't knock twice...

It would have certainly fixed any building perspective problems they may have had with a few of the backgrounds, governer's mansion especially.

It looks pretty good.
I just imagined Captain Kate, as she is based on her, looking more like Kate Capshaw.
I always imagined her under those pixels.

Well, it suits your skills, explains why you were eager to integrate your job with the Cry Engine, and explains why you don't want to get that plane to San Francisco!
So that was the "nice" studio...

hehe yeah. I started using Cryengine way before I started working there though. It's just a great engine. But don't take my word for it, i'm biased.
