Large Update time:

I am still working on getting the walkmesh 100% for the landing area. We got excited though and moved on to the merchant area, which is the second area. The 3d work is pretty much done Here are a ton of pics, I will have to make 2 posts to show them all, apologies mods...

Area when you first enter the merchants quarters:

Door to landing area:

The center market buildings with skywalks. These buildings will be the hub of the area:

Another side of the central hub:

Walking towards an open cantina:

Inside an open shop/bar/starbucksishplace:

Inbetween the central hub:

Walking again to the open cantina:

Inside the open shop/bar/starbuckish place:

An alley between buildings, shady bidness goin on

Dear ****ing God. With a few other elites from the community, you could start your own game developing corporation.

This is n00bish sounding but....

Saddly, I don't know nothing of Maya. I messed about with Z-Brush, but, euh...yeah I suck

The doors seem a little out-of-place, IMO perhaps because they are deep grey in a sandy-looking town? However, definately looks awesome in all other ways!

Good eye, I plan to reskin the doors, as they will not be working doors, just eye candy.

@ drunk Q. Belgium beer will jack a man up I hope he translates tomorrow once he has sobered up I think he was complimenting me though

Thanks for the kind words fellas, it honestly gives me motivation. As Q has often said, this is a hobby, so finding motivation to redo things over and over is often hard.

And I use to be more into 3d modeling and animation with lightwave about 10 years ago on a video toaster, but now i just stick with web development since that is my career. I bought KOTOR a few years ago and loved it, found llucasforums and saw the work Q and others were doing in modding and decided to give it a try

The one thing I'd like to point out is the lighting. It doesn't feel like your outside (sunlit). Especially compared to the skybox texture. What's it look like in game?

Hmm how so?

In 3dsm i just have a simple skylight to make renders nicer. In game we use the settings in the area files. In your opinion did my in game shots for the landing bay look better?

I have not gotten the complete merchant area in game yet I will be doing that tomorrow, WITH hopefully a working walkmesh

I am having a few issues with the walkmesh for this area, grrr, so while I am waiting for Q to wake up and sober up I will post this pic.

I took the advice given and gave the door a new face

Dang, waking up was never this painfull >_<
The other side of a fun night out... my poor belly, ugh!

Anyway I fixed the walkmesh, I think >_>

And, yes, I wish for a bit more competition. I get the feeling Holowan has lost a bit of its "hardcore" modders... or I'm just inpatient with the new kids to show off their hidden talents... arghz, shouldn't be so cranky

Well, once I develop the patience needed for UVW Mapping.... then I'll have to re-learn how to use photoshop/GIMP for textures

Otherwise, that looks very, very, very nice! Makes me so very jealous, not only of the obvious free time (And the dedication to use it for this instead of slacking off ) but of the skill.....

Nice work you two Dis.

After having another look at the in game shots, Yes the lighting looks more appropriate. I figured it was the renders. I also didn't realize some of the skybox is pretty dark when not facing the sun. Sleyheron must be a smoggy place.

You did a faithfull job on what Bioware did SS!
Me and Dis took the easy road: inventing your own layout of maps is often easier then trying to piec together that once was made.

Besides, all your other 3D projects are marvellous! I hope you find the time again to mod. Nice of you to drop in
