I'm having trouble with my GF. I have played through to year 2 fine, until just after Manny picks up the briefcase with the souls (after the forklift) and there was some sort of cutscene, but it crashed and then my computer blue screened.
I rebooted and since then I have been able to launch the game ok, but as soon as I try and open either the save or load game option the game immeidiately crashes and alt-tabs me to a pop-up application window called Assert Handler which displays the message:
You got me. A search for that phrase turns up...this thread. OK. Fine.
When you say 'Nothing has worked', do you mean that when you try to get past that point you get the same thing again and again?
More importantly, perhaps, when you say 'Nothing has worked', have you tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling--using the Quick & Easy installer, preferably, and having copied your saved games to a safe place--or is that something you haven't yet tried?
First of all, try doing like MeddingMonk mentioned, and use the Q&E tool. Or else, you can try downloading a savegame, that is past the crashingpoint, and we can tell you what happens in the cutscene
