Angry X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter Multiplayer help... TCP/IP

Okay, so I'm trying to play this classic game with one of my friends and we cannot get it to connect at all. We've both set up port forwards for port ranges 2300-2400 and still can't connect to each other, regardless of who hosts. Can someone help please? I would love to play this game with friends and I'm not interested in downloading additional software or playing with other players through a server or anything like that. Is there a way to get this working or am I screwed?

I think port 6073 on the TCP side (the 2300-2400 range is actually UDP) may have needed to be forwarded, too, but I'm not sure.

I'll try that, thanks... unfortunately my buddy's offline now, so I guess I'll have to wait until we get another day off together to find out if it works.
