Help with a model shadows

Hello, i have a problem with a model, wich have shadow a little bit, TOO DARK, or it appears normal or it appears completely black, or it appears half black and half normal.C an anybody help me?

Was it a model that you edited? I've had the same problem while making some armored robes. It seems to be that if you start out with any skin besides the model's default skin that this happens. Well, to me anyway.

What type of model, and do you have any pictures?

I can't get a decent picture, wathever i do it's always too dark... °°
But it's a rifle model from a K2 mod, that i ported in K1.

When i'm just under a light the rifle appears correctly, but when i'm not juste under the light it become completely black.

sounds like a self illumination problem. I don't know enough to give you an answer, but if you know the word to look for (also "selfillum" or "selfillumcolor"), there is always the handy search tool
