Casting Call: Nirriven: Divided We Fall

The Land of Nirriven is in chaos. In the City of Stormrise, the Kyng lays dying from an unknown illness with no heir, and the debate over who should succeed him threatens to escalate into Civil War. This divisions threaten to escalate the deep-seated hostility between the elves and the dwarves into open war. The Umbrals recognise that there are greater forces at play, and that the current crisis in the mortal realm may even drive them to intervene.

Details on the setting:

Here are some "mental pictures" I have about the fantasy setting...

1. I picture a vast mountain range in the western part of our realm. The arrogant and reclusive Elves live on the surface, practicing arcane magick and rituals in relative peace, because the Humans and Dwarves are against them. Certainly, there are Human mages, but Elven mages are far more feared because a) they're so much better at magick than Humans and b) many are Inceptors. Below ground reside the Dwarves, who are living in a semi-perpetual state of "cold war" with the Elves. The Dwarves know that martial power alone cannot eradicate the Elves, and the Elves know that since none of them are Warriors, they can't eradicate the Dwarves. Thus, they have a hostile coexistence. The land's civil war will force them to take opposite sides.

2. In the middle and eastern parts of the realm, where the land is more flat, Humans are primarily concentrated, going about their Human business. They are wary of the Elves, but to most Humans, the Elves are about as remote as Iraqis and Afghans are to most Americans. The only time Humans ever meet Elves is if one race or the other takes a dangerous trek far to the west/east. Witness Perdante and her exile. She has fled to the mountains in the west. Humans have a much better relationship with the Dwarves, who export gems and minerals through their (few) merchant caravans who dare to go east.

3. The Umbrals exist on a much higher plane (we'd call it the ionosphere). Their primary mission is to act as agents of good/evil, or chaos/law. The only ways an Umbral can die is if a magic spell kills them in their ghostly form, or if they are turned into stone by a mage and then shattered somehow. They have no real malice toward any of the "solid" races, only attitudes ranging from indifference to disdain. Only a few Umbrals are like the angels or devils of myth, caring so much about the "solid" world that they dare to intervene.
4. Despite animosities between Humans and Elves, unions between the two races are not unheard of. However, their offspring are often scorned within both communities, and depending on where they are, half-elves will often attempt to pass themselves off as the more accepted race in the area.

Feel free to come up with your own landmarks, settlements, etc.

RACES: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Half-Elf, Umbral ("shadow", a ghostlike shapeshifter)

ARCHETYPES: Warrior, Rogue, Mage

HUMANS CAN BE: Warriors, Rogues, Mages

ELVES CAN BE: Rogues, Mages

DWARVES CAN BE: Warriors, Rogues

HALF-ELVES CAN BE: Warriors, Rogues, Mages (they share humans' versatility)

UMBRALS CAN BE: Rogues, Mages

EXAMPLES OF WARRIOR CLASSES: Berserker (RARRR!), Paragon (warrior who inspires allies and demoralizes foes), Reaver (a warrior who feeds upon foes' souls)

EXAMPLES OF ROGUE CLASSES: Assassin (BACKSTAB!!!), Scout (lays traps, reads tracks, marks waypoints), Distractor (draws enemies out and acts as a diversion so the main party can attack on the sly. Kind of like a decoy.)

EXAMPLES OF MAGE CLASSES: Healer (duh), Elementalist (casts spells related to fire, water, earth and air), Inceptor (the most feared of all mages, because Inceptors cast spells that control and influence the mind, like "blood magic".)

Character Sheet Base:
Show spoiler

Name: Ser (as in Sir) Jaymes Caran
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Archetype: Warrior
Class: Knight/Champion
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Appearance:

Weapon: A Crystalline Greatsword, discovered in the ruins of Lindaren, from a time of peaceful cooperation and coexistence between all races of Nirriven.
Backstory: Early in his his career, Jaymes Caran was sent by the Kyng to lead an expedition into the recently discovered ruins of Lindaren. The ruin was infested with Goblins and Orcs, but the group was able to clear it, and discover the truth about the ruin: When it stood, Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and Umbrals stood together as allies, until it fell, from Zealots serving the Creator. Upon his return, Jaymes was Knighted, named Commander of the newly formed Blue Knights, and third in command in the Kyng's Court.

As third in command to the Kyng, Ser Jaymes was obligated to support Faren Mageslayer in his succession to the Throne. However, the two of them never saw eye to eye, and once it became clear what a brute Faren was, Ser Jaymes, in an unprecedented move, withdrew his support. Though he had his own supporters in the Court, Faren quickly quelled the movement by banishing Ser Jaymes from the Court. While he was still a Knight, and able to move freely within the Kyngdom, he lacked any political power. Realising Faren has gone mad with power and is using it to further his own agendas, Ser Jaymes is determined to stop him, and reunify Nirriven.

Despite his disgrace in the Court, the Blue Knights remained loyal to Ser Jaymes and agreed to rebel against Faren, directly opposing Faren's newly formed Knights Opaque.

Name: Athra Half-Elven/Talravin
Race: Half-Elf
Gender: Female
Archetype: Rogue
Class: Ranger
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Appearance:

Weapon: A Dragonwood Longbow
Backstory: An outcast amongst both humans and elves, Athra makes her living in the vast forests and small villages between Stormrise and the Reaching Mountains. Secretly however, she is the daughter of Jenna Talravin and an Human man whose name she never learned. Jenna's pride prevents her from acknowledging Athra is her daughter, which Athra naturally finds insulting. On top of that, she believes her to be dangerous, but that she is still a better choice to succeed the Kyng than Faren Mageslayer.

Two characters we need:
A Human Warrior/Berserker--the one who was victorious against Perdante Argentys (Tysyacha's character) in their Duel of the Fates. This Berserker claims that since s/he is the Kyng's lieutenant and second-in-command, then by martial right s/he shall claim the throne since the dying Kyng has no heir. This Warrior is mistrustful of all types of mages except Healers, and wants to eradicate all other forms of magick from the realm. After all, claims this person, who should have the right to control the wind and waves, the earth and fire, and people's minds above all, except for the god(s) s/he believes in? Thus s/he is a crusader, too. Any who are not with him/her is his/her foe.

An Elven Inceptor, who was, oddly enough, brought over from the mountains in the West to teach the Human race magick. This Elf started out studying the schools of Healing and Elementalism, and taught Men to harness the power of restorative and primal magick. However, at the midpoint of the Elf's life, s/he became fascinated with the forbidden school of Inception. S/he took one out of every thousand humans to study this art, and thus there are so few Human Inceptors that they're almost nonexistent. This is how the Elves have kept their monopoly over Inception for so long. This Elf is not inherently evil, just "grey" and entirely pro-magic, and also a deist.

Name: Chiron Gethyro
Race: Umbral
Gender: Male
Archetype: Mage
Class: Elementalist
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Appearance:

Backstory: An incredibly rare kind of Umbral, Chiron is one of the few who would intervene in the solid world. What makes him unique is that he does not entirely care if the solids he comes into contact are good or evil, but if they are interesting. He finds the variety of solid races to be fascinating and enjoys spending time watching them. One day he decided to not just to venture into the solid world but to actually stay there. He decided the race who prove themselves to be the most worthy would be what he would shapeshift as. He encountered the elves on his first visit and was impressed by their magical abilities. He then sought out the dwarves after learning of the uneasiness between the two races. He once again found himself in awe at the dwarves' might. His final encounter was with the humans, who proved to be the jack of all trades as he called them. Seeing that each race was equally amusing to him he decided to take an appearance entirely unique to him(based strongly off of his ghost form but more "fleshy" as he calls it). Now he travels around looking for new and interesting solids to meet.

NAME: Perdante Argentys, formerly known as the Silver Paragon
RACE: Human
GENDER: Female
ARCHETYPE: Warrior
CLASS: Former Paragon, and now just plain boring Fighter (to be trained...)
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Neutral, formerly Lawful Good
WEAPONS: Dagger and longsword, known as "Ychec" and "Macht"

BACKSTORY: Perdante was once known as Gagnante Argentys, or the Silver Paragon--one of the most renowned warriors in the eastern part of Nirriven, where Humans primarily reside. Not only was she skilled in battle, but as a Paragon, she knew how to inspire her allies to perform great feats of courage and her foes to quake in fear. Seeking to become the Kyng's lieutenant and second-in-command, Gagnante entered a Duel of the Fates in the palace's vast Crucible arena. The prize for victory? Proximity and an advisory role to the Kyng himself. The penalty for defeat? Bearing the Brand of the Vanquished for all eternity and being sent into exile. The Kyng, loving battle above all else, deemed losing unacceptable. Only a champion would ever fight at his side. Thus, the [Human Warrior/Berserker] won, and seeks to claim the throne. However, the [Elven Inceptor] is definitely getting in his/her way!

In the dark forest outskirts of the Reaching Mountains in the West, Perdante serves out her lifelong sentence, subsisting on whatever game she can hunt. She hopes to find refuge with the Dwarves or the Elves, but will either race accept her--an exile and vanquished Paragon who has been cast down from the heights? Since she lost the Duel of the Fates, she has lost her powers...

Will she be able to redeem herself as civil war looms imminent in Nirriven?

Name: Jenna Talravin
Race: Elf
Gender: Female
Archetype: Mage
Class: Inceptor
Alignment: Neutral but leaning towards good
Weapon/Accessory: Staff with intricate and detailed carvings on it, possibly a long sword but no one ever bothered to ask
Appearance: Tall and willowy as well as athletic with light brown to blonde hair that falls down the length of her back; reddish brown eyes that are unusual for an Elf. Clothing is mostly robes that seem to swirl as she walks but move quickly out of the way should she be caught in a fight

Backstory: An Elven Inceptor, who was, oddly enough, brought over from the mountains in the West to teach the Human race magick. Jenna started out studying the schools of Healing and Elementalism, and taught Men to harness the power of restorative and primal magick. In the course of her teachings, she was able to discover an old method of healing that utilized the Elemental aspect of magick and secretly began practicing the art working towards a workable level. Along the way to perfecting her technique, she discovered that the basic elements wielded in this magick required something more. She continued to teach Humans the primal forms of magick but was reserved in the more powerful forms. It was not an issue of capability but more of an issue of trust for some of the pupils she had showed a thirst for knowledge and power that was alarming. A few times had her utilizing her staff to amplify her powers in order to correct mistakes that would have been costly.

At the midpoint of her life, she became fascinated with the forbidden school of Inception. The ability to have power over the mind was a lure that few could resist. However the lure for her was one as a means of knowledge. She studied and mastered the principles of Inception and became well aware the vast power an Inceptor had over others. She saw it when she used it to calm the minds of beasts and when her masters toyed with the minds of people. Recognizing the power of Inception, Jenna adopted the notion that if power was kept in one group's hand for too long, it corrupts. She had seen it with fellow Inceptors who abused their power in order to have things done their way. While never one to get involved in disputes, Jenna took a moral high ground on this. As a means of balancing out the scale, she took one out of every thousand humans to study this art, and thus there are so few Human Inceptors that they're almost nonexistent. Some would say that it is a monopoly of the art but Jenna was highly selective in who she taught. She looked for individuals that showed not only talent promise but the ability to exercise some moral judgement.

Jenna is not inherently evil, just "grey" and entirely pro-magic, giving off more of a cynic view of the world and has a tendency to see things in a larger picture. She could always be counted upon to make a quirky reply to things said, often having the effect of relieving tension. She wanders much throughout the lands occupied by humans but lives in a house overlooking a magickal river where she practices magick and also a deist. As a courtesy for her teaching human mages, she was taught how to wield a sword even though she is skilled in the art of staff fighting by a grateful student. In return, she taught that student Elemental magick to complement his Inception power.

Something else developed between the two. As a result Athra was born. Due to the fact that society prevented the close attachment, Jenna made the difficult choice in abandoning Athra to live the existence of a half Elf but not without leaving a mark of protection on her. It could be said that pride prevented the acknowledgement of her daughter given Jenna's nature to be cynical of all things yet it was a mask that hid her true feelings. She never stopped hoping that maybe Athra would seek her out even if only to shout condemnation at her.

Hope that works.

Very much so! Now we need the Warrior/Berserker who will oppose your character.

EDIT: Here's a YouTube video of what I thought your Elven Inceptor looked like:

Name: Alaire Sechtaine
Race: Half-Elf
Gender: Female
Archetype: Warrior
Class: Reaver
Alignment: chaotic/neutral used to be chaotic/evil
Appearance:

Weapon: Scythe and two twin scimitars.
Backstory: Alaire grew up in an elven village, despised by all of it's inhabitants due to the fact that her mother was human. Her village was raided by humans and by a chance encounter she was saved by a human warrior of great fame. She was taken to a human village where she traded the hate of her fellow elves, to the hate of the humans, she was often looked down upon, bullied and humiliated. But when the time came for her choice as part of the army, she chose to become a Reaver like her savior. She wanted to be able to destroy those who destroyed her. And so as part of her final test as a Reaver, she went back to the village that she was taken from to find it rebuilt. Some of the villagers recognized her only too late as she slaughtered every single man, woman and child single handedly, taking their souls to increase her power.

In time she only found it more difficult to quiet the voices of the souls she had taken, not even all the ale or wine could make her visions and regrets fade away. And so she left her unit, deserted her fellow Reavers and went out into the world as mercenary for hire but she made it clear she would not take a life unless completely necessary. Of course, being a Reaver who depended on souls for her power, she became rather weak but her ability with weapons were second to none and she can hold her own in a fight pretty easily.

Name: Jaeuth Gercrowe
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Archetype: Mage
Class: Former Elementalist, now Arcane Warrior
Alignment: Formerly True Neutral, now Lawful Neutral
Weapon/Accessory: An Arcane Spear capable of channeling magic like a Mage's staff, yet allowing for full contact battle. Most everything else he has are his clothes (washed weekly...he's tidier than most.), and the pouches he has that carry his personal stuff (money, magical ingredients, small scrolls, not-so-magical ingredients, a midsized book written in the long dead dialect of the Ancient Arcanes', and some other stuff that will pop into my head - that he should have - later, etc.), oh, and let's try not to forget to mention his fists (combined with a little magic) count as weapons too.
Appearance: Monk-like

Backstory: A man who has long dwelt in the frigid north, he's grown up attached to the both secluded, and nomadic lifestyle of many of the people that live as far up north as he did/has. He practiced magic, an ability rare in the northern folk (Practice of magic is rare, I should specify; latent/inherently magical people are not - to the contrary, there's a higher concentration of them in the north.), as they have no formal ways of teaching. With this handicap, as well as the fact that he had no teacher, nor any real knowledge of what magic was or what it could do beyond the stories his people told for generations, and a lack of any channeling device (a mage's staff, basically) for his beginning skills, he used what little he knew, and all he had, to forge his skills.

With the elements as his only palpable substance he put martial talent to the practice of magic, and after years he had perfected his own self-styled use of magic; many who would hear the story of his practices later (usually through him telling them) would say he had reenacted the creation of elemental magic (or at least it's use). Many mages who saw his magic in use would say he had taken the now defined use of Elementalism, and taken it back to it's roots to such an accurate (and more pure) mark, many older, wizened mages questioned their forms of magic for what they might be, quite a few feared what they came to conclude.

But this was not the most significant thing that had occurred to Jaeuth in his life, indeed the acknowledgment as a natural, if not pure, user of magic was something that made him smile, and gave him a sense of satisfaction for all the hard work and many years he'd put in to becoming a Mage, but it was not the most significant. Many of the things that happened in his life that were of more importance were those things often done in the dark, in privacy, in secrecy from the world. One such thing, if not the most important, was his discovery by a woman who also lived in the north, but unlike him she was an elf, and unlike him she dwelt in the frozen reaches that are so far north, not even his people dare go there, even for gathering food (as they follow some migrating animals), even if it (the food) goes there, and the temptation is strong.

This elven woman found him while he was traveling north to meet up with his tribe/people, she caught up to him from behind, as if she were simply a traveler looking to find someone to walk with, but in the end their conversation headed in a direction that made Jaeuth realize he had been more than just happened upon, but sought out, the woman seeming to know a great deal about him, she told him of her knowledge of his very primal skill in Elementalism, and told him of his inherent martial talent, which he used in his practice of the magical art(s). She thought this, combined with his (at the time) more Pure Neutral nature gave him a quality that was rare, and desirable for teaching. She took him to the far northern reaches, into the lands that his people didn't enter, and she told him secrets, taught him ancient languages, and gave him a new last name (not all that important, but it explains his more civilized last name). When he finally left a few years later, he emerged with new knowledge, like for one, that the woman was in fact not elven, but an Umbral, one who'd long dwelt in the north in solid form, keeping ancient traditions alive, teaching only select few individuals that embodied what resembled the Arcane people of old, and their practices; putting down any elves who saw fit to think that they deserved to monopolize on the Arcane arts that they found in these few individuals, or (to the more extreme side) even eliminate the few who had the abilities (not that those individuals couldn't care for themselves, she simply saw it more fit, if not easier to quell the issues herself, lest she sit around and watch her precious few pupils shrink in numbers until they united too late to do anything to save themselves.).

With his new abilities as an Arcane Warrior, and a well deserved conduit for his magical abilities (not that he needs it), he set out with a task that he felt was strange for one so reclusive, and selectively picky with her choices (btw: they had no romantic moments between them, his at-the-time Pure Neutral nature driving him to only focus on one thing, his new practice of magic as an Arcane Warrior.). He began teaching Magic to those in the north, provided with more current and up-to-date supplies/knowledge of the different magic arts, he set up a foundation by selectively (quite picky too) choosing only a few people in the northern realm to teach, providing each with a solid base of knowledge, as well as supplies (but no conduits, hm, I wonder?), he taught them collectively, then separately, and then left them to fend for themselves. With the supplies and knowledge provided, they progressed in their abilities faster than he had ever, and with a few more visits from him to provide advice and knowledge, they began teaching others, and with time magical mosques began cropping up from these original few.

To this day there are still only a few of these mosques (one for each specific art/practice of magic excluding the Arcane arts, such as Mage-Warrior arts, and Blood Magic. Only the Healing arts, and Elemental arts have multiple mosques - two mosques each art - one for the practicality of it, seeing as the Healing mosques double as small medical centers; one for the sake of honoring Jaeuth, who passed himself off as his original Elementalist self to his students while teaching them. The original students of Jaeuth agreeing to use the second Elemental mosque to try and honor, and emulate, their master's more pure style of Elemental magic, this mosque being the most coveted one to get into - besides the Inception mosque, which has a very small student base, but is still very coveted to get into, especially by younger elves from the south.) but they are the most coveted teaching institutes of magic any group of humans has ever created, but are also very secluded, these institutes allowing very few southerners to join on the basis of their priorities, self-serving mages (which are very often southern, seeing as the nature of the northern people is a more external concern towards the well being of their people, not the advancement of their own wills and desires, and it's that quality that gives most northerners an almost palpably humble air that very strongly distinguishes them from southerners. Not only southerners, but elves too, the mosques having no prejudice towards race or gender, but still find most elves that wish to practice magic at the mosques to be very pompous and snide, if not condescending, only applying to get in to see how their own magical teaching institutes compare - often times to see how less capable they are, so they can tell their elven mage brethren for a good laugh.) are often times excluded, lest their self-serving is actually for a good cause (then technically it would be less self-serving.).

These mosques having taken on the famous name of the Hoarfost Mosques, taking on the original last name of Jaeuth, who, just like his practice of magic, passed off his old last name as to who/what he was, not giving away to his students what he really was, nor who he now called himself, allowing him to move into obscurity, a thing that the Umbral woman had planned from the beginning. Now he patrols the cold steppes of the southern borders of the northern realm (which I forgot to mention is not apart of the Kyngdom, only a sort of 'free-land', although the northern peoples will claim 'allegiance' with the Kyngdom, seeing as it's only real importance are the teaching mosques, which are a few secluded buildings in the frigid, snowy land, spaced so far apart, and with so few established external buildings, they don't really count for anything to the Kyngdom, even with all their renown. Though during the rising civil war the peoples of the north can/will very quickly withdraw any sense of 'allegiance' seeing as a civil war is what the people of the north would call a personal matter, and something that they do not desire to waste the precious few lives that live in the north to the petty political affairs of an internally turmoiled nation.), somewhere to the west near the mountainous reaches of the elves and dwarves, gathering whispered news from his Umbral teacher that problems may arise between them, and he should be there to see that it does not spread into the north, and be contracted by the mosques.

It's a bit much, but I think it fleshes out one somewhat unimportant area of the world, which should give the more important areas some much needed substance... ...I've been playing too much Dragon Age.

If nobody wants to take him, I will, and I'm making him a Dwarf instead of a Human, because so far there are no Dwarves in the story and they're cool! :P

NAME: Faren Mageslayer
RACE: Dwarf
GENDER: Male
ARCHETYPE: Warrior
CLASS: Berserker
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic "Good" (err, he THINKS he's doing the right thing...)
WEAPON: "Palach", a giant two-handed executioner's axe
APPEARANCE: Will come later/see below

BACKSTORY: Faren, a Dwarven Berserker, has always lived for the thrill of battle. He has also always hated mages--except for Healers, especially the captured Elven slaves who are the only ones who can properly tend to his wounds! He views all other forms of magic, especially Inception, to be abominations against mortalkind and against the god he reveres, his Creator.

Even though he has lived an isolated life deep beneath the surface of the Reaching Mountains, never even having seen a Human until his twenty-first year, Faren could not resist that Human crier's call: a summons to a Duel of the Fates in order to become the lieutenant of the Kyng of Nirriven himself! Gathering up "Palach", his faithful headsman's axe, Faren made the arduous journey to the east on foot--a remarkable feat, even for one of his kind. After all that traveling, he expected to win the grand Duel--which he did. His final opponent, however, who lost to him, was a beautiful WOMAN, of all people!

Women are forbidden to take up arms underground, except if they are of high birth and have been trained by the best male soldiers. Triumphant and gloating over his victory against Perdante Argentys, he himself painted the Brand of the Vanquished upon her face as she knelt in humble submission. This made him desire a further prize: the vanquished herself, but she managed to flee the Crucible arena before he could get his hands (and loins!) on her.

Having been the Kyng's lieutenant, Faren knows that the throne is his by right of martial law, but a sinful Elven Inceptor seeks to challenge him and his god. The Berserker knows that he needs the help of many to reach his goal of uniting Nirriven under his monotheistic and militaristic banner. For now, the realm lurches toward civil war. Will the Mageslayer remain triumphant?

I can erase it if you'd like, but I was just inspired to create!
It looks good with the basic structure. I will try to work on a sketch that looks more like the character I had in mind and try to post.

Name: Thannis Scion
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Archetype: Warrior/Mage
Class: Dark Knight (Former Paladin)
Alignment: Lawful Evil (formally Lawful Good)
Weapon/Equipment: Corrupted Holy Paladin Sword and Armour.
Appearance: Will come later... (When I am not at work)

Backstory:

Thannis was born to poor family in the city of Stormrise, where he had a harsh upbringing on the streets. He was refused the chance to join the army as a recruit because of his family's lack of money or influence, despite of his natural prowess as a fighter with a strong sense of Honour.

With bright eyes and an empty sack he left his family on his fourteenth birthday to join a group of holy warriors heading towards their training ground in the Reaching Mountains, the journey was hard pushing him to his limit and costing his group a few of their lives.

The training was even more difficult and he would remain there for six years, the holy warriors helped to awaken his latent healing and abilities and sculpt him into a tool of justice and decency. On his twentieth birthday he was awarded the rank of Paladin and given his blade and armour.

He left the training ground of the Paladins to protect the local villages from bandits and other foul beings that were plaguing the area, after protecting the villages for many months he decided to see his parents before returning to the order.

Returning to his home he found the shell of a house that was once his home, he talked to an old man that was a friend of the family he was informed that his family was murdered in a brutal attack by a lower city gang five years ago.

Upon returning to the order he discovered that the grounds were completely destroyed by a monster/demon that preyed on the goodness in peoples hearts.

Not only had he lost his only family but his kinsmen aswell, staring death in the face at the hands of the demon he made the hardest choice of his life to fight evil he would become evil itself, renouncing everything he stood for he gave into his anger corrupting his armour and appearance he used his own life essence to attack the demon (Darkside skill).

Since then he has travelled alone protecting a twisted version of the orders code and vowing that he will not give mercy to those who oppose his justice.

Though his soul may not be beyond redemption as occasionally he will show compassion, and heal using his Paladin skills though this weakens him greatly.

"Savior, conqueror, hero, villain. You are all things, Revan… and yet you are nothing. In the end, you belong to neither the light nor the darkness. You will forever stand alone."

Some other details:

Titles
Kyng - King (Queen is the same as in the real world)
Ser - Sir/Dame (gender-neutral)
Lorrd - Lord/Lady (gender-neutral)
Ard/Ardess - Earl (presides over an Arden)
Barin/Bariness - Baron/Baroness (presides over a Barinor)
The Blue Knights
Founded after the unearthing of Lindaren, the Blue Knights seek to uphold the civilised ideals of Lindaren in an uncivilised world. Though they prefer the peaceful, diplomatic solution, they are masters of the blade, maintaining a clear head at all times, giving them the upper hand against even the most frenzied berserker. They act not in the service of any god, but insteadin the service of the people of Nirriven, on the principles of logic and reason. Recognising magic to not be as black and white as Faren Mageslayer believes, the Blue Knights agreed follow their leader, Ser Jaymes Caran, in direct opposition to the Knights Opaque. While the Knights Opaque claim to be "Holy Warriors", the Blue Knights describe themselves as "Civilised Warriors", and while the Knights Opaque are primarily devout believers, the Blue Knights are composed of moderate believers, agnostics, atheists (including Ser Jaymes himself), and deists.

Small note of information btw: my character will not show up and meet the group so immediately (which seems to be the cliche of things), he's over near the foot of the mountains that everyone's heading to (somewhere slightly north), so he'll meet them (by them I mean anyone who gets there first, be it Alkonium's character, or Tysy's - and her little group.) there, or they'll stumble upon him, either way someone will get to him eventually.

Just wanted that to be known (so that you peeps can know why I'm not posting yet).

Well, you could have him targeted by the Knights Opaque, only for the Blue Knights, including Ser Jaymes, to intervene.

Well, I wasn't exactly looking for any suggestions as to how I start posting, or as to how my character enters the RP, I was simply informing everyone as to my delayed posting, and the reasoning behind it (and the fact that I would have my character waiting at the foot of the mountains, etc.).

But if you feel having my character becoming targeted/attacked gives excuse for Ser Jaymes (and the Blue Knights) being near the mountains, then fine by me. If you need a real reason for him being there (and intervening) I could make up some crock about the Knights Opaque turning their attention north to the mosques, since them attacking the elves (mages that is) in their land would be the stupidest thing for them to do, and Jaeuth could be standing in their way (since he was sent to the southwestern borders for the exact reason of keeping the mosques safe), and then Knightly Blue intervention, etc. Blah blah blah.

With the Knights Opaque's attention diverted from the north (temporarily), things could proceed from there. Sound good, or did I get a bit too into it?

Ok, never mind, though I just figured the Knights Opaque would come after Jaeuth eventually.

Well they would if they ever figured out he was/is a mage. But Arcane Warriors aren't too common, so they would have no real clue he was a mage until they found him using combat-magic(k), and the only way he'd use it is if they threatened the north, since he's protecting it's borders. Bit complicated, but it makes sense I guess. *shrugs*

If the idea wasn't all too good then I'll just have Jaeuth meet whomever gets to the foot of the mountains first, be it Ser Jaymes and the Blue Knights, or Perdante and the gang.

Really, really sorry for this double post (rarely ever do it), but now that the RP is going in a direction that was not what was supposed/assumed (by myself at least), I think I'll need that suggestion for entering the RP now.....!

>_<;;

Um, I was honestly expecting the Knights Opaque to last a bit longer myself. Maybe the main group seeks him out, I don't know. Maybe Tysy can come up with something.

Maybe the Four (the replacements for the now-dead Knights Opaque) can "sense" him or something, or maybe he wants to go straight for Faren? Hmm. He may be protecting the north, but there's really nothing up there at the moment, at least for now.

I'll go with the sensing thingy. You're the one who controls them (even if they are NPC's) Tysy, so you just do something with them (some 'sensy' kinda thingy) and I'll have Jaeuth go southeast (his master will tell him there's more pressing matters over that way that need his attention, or something), and we'll, uuuuuhhh, figure it out from there I guess.
-_-;

Another character who'll be playing a semi-important part

Name: Eagan Ivar
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Archetype: Warrior
Class: Paragon
Alignment: Lawful Good
Appearance:

Title: Ard of Thunderkeep
Backstory:
Like Faren Mageslayer, he believes in the Creator, but at the same time, he does not believe the Creator would approve of brutally hunting down and killing mages, and sees Faren as a sadistic brute, and a disgrace to his religion. Recognising that there is room for belief in the Creator in the secular society the Blue Knights strive for, he is one of their strongest supports, with many from his Arden, Thunderkeep, joining their ranks, as well as troops from Thunderkeep aiding them in secret since their rebellion began.
